“Sometimes you think of bravery in the stereotypical way, maybe in the superhero way of fighting bad guys or jumping from buildings, and I think some of the bravest things to do are the simplest, like honesty. You know? Like for me, Valkyrie, in the movie for example, is not brave because she can fight people bigger than herself. I think she’s brave when she decides to acknowledge the things in her past that really hurt her. When she decides to confront them, you know? That, to me, those are the bravest moments of hers.” - Tessa Thompson (x)
Would Uncle Iroh’s Prison Training Actually Work in Real Life?
I’ve already made a workout program for The Dragon Of the West but today, we are really going to analyze Uncle Iroh’s Prisoner Training from when he was locked up in Book 3 of Avatar the Last Airbender.
Today we look at his diet, his workouts and if it would be truly possible to get his results in real life with such low quality food and equipment.
We really need to normalise exercising and eating well for reasons other than losing weight or building huge amounts of muscle. I’ve started going to the gym recently to relieve stress and help me sleep but despite the fact that I fit into shirts and skirts in size small, I’ve been asked if I’m trying to lose weight numerous times.
Here’s a list of non-aesthetic reasons to exercise:
My grandfather doesn’t use the word “calories” when talking about food…he uses the word “value” instead. I was eating fruit for lunch and he said “if you’re going for a run later you need something more valuable”. I sat there for a while just thinking about the way he said that. Change out a negative word with a positive one and you’ll see start seeing positive change.
