I do wanna address what's happening right now outside of the building. There are ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order. Trump is using military forces to stop a protest — and I want y'all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us. What type of government is that? People are being swept up and torn from their families. I feel it's my responsibility, as an artist, to use this moment to speak up for all oppressed people, For Black people, for Latino people, for trans people, for the people in Gaza. We all deserve to live in hope and not in fear. I hope that we stand together, my brothers and my sisters, against hate and we protest against it.

周冠宇 / zhou guanyu pronunciation + name order  so ive been meaning to make this after some discourse and its been sitting in my drafts but here u go bc some were interested ! i am chinese and ill try my best to explain pronunciation so in mandarin chinese we have four tones

as you can see in the pic, the first tone is flat, the second tone goes up, the third goes down then up, and the fourth goes down. in his name there are only three!! zhōu guàn yǔ has the first tone, the second tone, then the third tone. the first tone is flat, so the vowel sounds are even. zhou is NOT pronounced like the english “joe”. “zh” is similar to the j sound in english, but sort of mixed with the “ch” sound in change. the vowels are pronounced very differently because of the first tone - meaning keep your voice flat!! guàn is similar as it also has the first tone in some cases - however natural emphasis on the “an” sound when saying a name. keep it flat as well yǔ is a little trickier - its the third tone. this means that when saying the character your voice goes down then up. however, since its the last character in his name, its said as a “low” tone. meaning less emphasis on the up part !! i added a recent clip if you want to hear how he says his own name but you can find more in his other interviews!! name order in china the name order is (last name) (first name) ! this is why guanyu has said he prefers to be called zhou guanyu in that order when referred to in full. BUT. we still call eachother by our first name only too!! just like anywhere else! so its absolutely fine to just say guanyu too! a good note that its odd to refer to everyone by their first names (e.g charles, lewis) but only ever refer to guanyu as zhou. also ! he has a nickname of 小周 (xiao zhou) literally meaning small zhou which is cute as well  if anyone has smth to add please lmk!

It has been almost 20 months since the genocide in Gaza started, and more than 14 months since a GFM was started so that Ibrahim @aburakhiaibrahim and his family of 28 members can have means to survive during this genocide and to hopefully join his sister and other relatives who are currently residing in Canada.

The application has already been approved, but the amount of money they would need to cross to border when it opens and to survive while being constantly in danger of bombardment is extremely high, with the exorbitant cost of crossing to Egypt and the prices food and other basic needs, especially for 28 people.
