Shameless Plug Week - ‘long fic’ day

My favourite of my (not very many) long fics is ‘Mending Wall,’ a QPR coldwave neighbours AU in which Len and Mick were in juvie together, went their separate ways, then meet again years later when they find out they’re neighbours. But is Len keeping secrets that could get in the way of their new happiness? (Co-written with @bold-sartorial-statement )

Behrad’s observance is really kicking in now, because he puts it together pretty easily. “You want to go check out what’s up with her,” he guesses, snapping his fingers. Then he shrugs, “Sure, why not?”

Zari semi-forces Behrad to take her to Gotham ‘21 and learns a thing or two about him. (And about Mary Hamilton.)

“Hey!” Zari says, flicking against Behrad’s ear. “Wake up, you lazy dummy!” Her voice is getting louder as she smacks against her brother’s side.

It feels like ages until he even stirs. Smacking his lips, he cracks an eye open. “Yallah, Z, somethin’ burning?”

“You know, I do admire that this would be your reaction if there was something aflame–” Zari starts, leaning back now that she’s got his attention.

“Hey, living with Mick teaches you to appreciate the little flames,” Behrad answers with a shrug. He gives a heavy yawn as he sits up straighter. “So, what’s going on?”

Zari puts a hand up to her nose. “Ugh, for you that would be a toothbrush to start with,” she says. “And then you gotta teach me how to use one of those jumpships.”

Behrad blinks, completely oblivious to the health tip she’d just bestowed onto him. “A jumpship– wait, you don’t know how to use a jumpship?”

Flarrowverse Shipyard Shameless Plug Week!

Over at the @flarrowverse-shipyard we've got a week event to promote our old fanworks. Here's my entry for 'short fics' day...

This poor neglected fic is not the highest on my 'hits' list - probably because it's a rarepair. It's whumpy and angsty and hurt/comfort-y. Featuring speedster Iris whose powers are running out of control, and the only person she trusts to slow her down.

Summary: When Iris can't slow down, there's only one thing she can trust to be the opposite of speed.

When his smooth timbre filters over the comms, Iris realizes it’s the only voice she’s wanted to hear, for the last harrowing day and a half. That calm, confident drawl - the voice of a man who’d take on the world and never countenance losing. Right now, she needs someone who’ll bet the world on her. And when it comes to Iris, he’s always been willing to risk it all.

“Hi, Snart,” she croaks. “Did you miss me?”

There's a smile in his voice when he side-steps that question. “Powers running out of control, I hear.”

Laughing hurts, but hearing one of Snart’s terrible puns is worth the pain.

That's all they thought they needed to know about each other.

But we all know found families don't stay that way, don't we?

Life was rarely fair. Len learned this the first time his father went to prison. Again the first time he was struck. Again when he went to juvie over and over. Again when he went into the system with his baby sister.

But it could be better.

He learned that when light shined on him with the opportunity the Stein family presented him.

He stopped being Leonard Snart and became Leonard Stein. For himself, for his sister, for a better life. Even if it meant leaving others behind and denying parts of himself to fit into this brighter world.

Then Lisa got sick.

And the company he had dedicated nearly half of his life to was ready to let her die.

If Leonard Stein can't work the system to save his sister in an unfair world, maybe Leonard Snart can break it.

But for that he'll need a team.

He'll need leverage.

Pt 1 @coldflashevents

These moodboard sets and drabbles are the gifts I pinch hit for @mock-arts <3 I chose your awesome idea for a thief/leverage au!

The world is rarely fair.

Barry Allen learned this at the age of ten when his mother was murdered in front of him and his father was framed for it.

The lesson was further enforced when the system opposed him becoming a part of the West family.

He relearned it through many foster homes, both good and bad. He learned it when the only way to survive and get what he needed was to steal it.

He had a knack for it, he quickly worked out. He was fast and smart. Especially with art and tech. After getting emancipated, he managed to put himself through college by painting forgeries.

Unfairness hit him again when his contact rolled on him and others, made him the fall guy, and he was picked up by Joe West. Again.

Now he's walking out of prison; expecting nothing, no one, and having to start over on his own. Again.

Instead there's a man waiting for him with an offer.

The world is rarely fair.

But maybe he can steal it a little better.
