The DC/Marvel Crossover server is proud to present our summer Pool Noodle Party! Celebrating the rarest crossover pairs, both platonic and romantic. Courtesy of this post about ships that are too small to count as ships:

For our purposes, a “pool noodle” is a relationship tag that comes up with less than 30 hits on Ao3. Platonic (&) relationships count! Any and all crossover pairings with under 30 existing fics are welcome.

We have six themes. Each theme will have a week for posting creations and a week for celebrating — giving feedback and leaving comments. We’ll share everything that was created the previous week and try to spread the love, but also post rec lists of our favorite older fics that fit the theme.

For anybody who's interested in creating fanworks for existing fic, we'll be posting a list (soon) of fics whose authors have given permission for podfic, moodboards, art, and playlists inspired by their work!

Themes are relatively loose, so your ship might fit multiple themes — that’s fine! Entirely up to you when you post.

Check out the prompt lists! Keep in mind that fics do not have to fit a particular prompt, only the general theme for the week they're posted. These are just for inspiration.

A no-labour event where you promo and share your pre-existing fanworks!

Perhaps a fanwork of yours went unnoticed when it was posted? Or you're just proud of it and want to give it more attention! Not a creator? Feel free to rec someone else's fanworks!

This is a chill event designed to spread some love and encourage people to engage with works and raise everybody's stats. So if you promo a work, you should actively like, reblog and share another work! Increasing engagement is the key.

To take part join us in the server!

Creators are also absolutely welcome to create something specifically for the event if they so choose.

Nitro boosters of the server will also have priority/increased promotion and have their Arrowverse works shared on the blog.

Sharing commission info is also welcome during submissions!

Participants are strongly encouraged to get involved in feedback week and not only creation week! The unfortunate truth of the pool noodle is that it can feel like a very lonely way to float; crossovers are more likely to slip through the cracks of Ao3 searches, and they frequently don’t get the love they deserve. The best way to encourage more of them is to comment and let writers know that there’s an audience out there.

Prompt lists will also include a list of fics within the theme whose writers are open to podfic, art, etc, in case you’d like to do an “inspired by” work.

Join us for DC Make It Poly Week from 14th July to 20th July, to celebrate polyamorous ships in the DC Fandom. We're exploring a new format this year — stay tuned for an update in April!

WHAT: A fanworks bingo celebrating Jewish (and Jew-ish) characters across any and all fandoms. Write fanfiction and/or create graphics (moodboards, edits, vids, whatever you like) to fill prompts on this overall bingo card. During the 8 nights of Hanukkah, submit your fills to the AO3 collection and/or post them on Tumblr to be reblogged and added to the Bingo Masterpost.

WHY: Jewish characters and Jewish fans are often overlooked or erased during the Winter Holiday Season in favor of “Secret Santa” exchanges, Christmas-themed fics, and the idea that ~Hanukkah is Jewish Christmas~ (which spoiler for all fics in this bingo: it’s not). This panfandom Bingo challenge is to celebrate Hanukkah on its own terms and give Jewish characters and fans a place to breathe. :)
