late addition to hourly comics day~! i had a surprisingly full saturday since it fell during chinese new year! happy february and happy year of the snake! 🐍✨ (hourly breakdown below)

2-2AM ✦ finishing up my tasks and watching arcane! 9AM ✦ i love bed… 10AM ✦ i love singing in the shower 11AM ✦ listening to a kwame ture speech for BHM! 1PM ✦ waiting on transit when the temp drops mid-day ☠️ 2PM ✦ i have this curse where i plan to try skating again, and then for some reason or another i don't! will i ever get to learn? T_T 3PM ✦ caro tells me about being a reformed wolf girl and howling during a wolf docu at the theatre as a kid 4PM ✦ for some reason i can't stop having shojo friendship confessionals (and randomly we're a black cat and akita inu now… NOT a furry, but i think we share something on a deep level) 5PM ✦ the river trails are so nice! 6PM ✦ MCR bedroom shrine ?! 7PM ✦ CNY dinner with my mom's side! my cousin said i was ADHD core! (what does this mean?) 8PM ✦ the complicated but enchanting lives of roblox tiktok teens… 10PM ✦ kilig and emo moments w kbb 11PM ✦ winding down and starting my #hourlies! 2AM ✦ ����️... new skip and loafer chappy in bed!

my 2024 art summary~!! (´｡• ᵕ •｡`) ♡

i almost didn't make these this year because i mostly worked on my CupCAKE comic and then immediately jumped into other gigs! but i had such a fun year filled with seeing many friends and eating lots of yummy food! i travelled to the US for the first time (Chicago) as well as went overseas to the UK (also for the first time!) - a year of many struggles but many wonderful things as well. i also hope for a free Palestine in 2025 and for the USA and canada to stop sponsoring invasion, war, and genocide.

i'm really grateful for a wonderful year filled with friendship & love and work! i hope you will cheer me on in 2025 too 🤠🫶 (please no wizard's curse...)

Hi friends, I'm participating in the Last Minute Gifts campaign in supporting the Al Manasra family's evacuation and life saving medical aid for the mother. Organized by @ezrazone and @pollyguo!

We have one week to help this family evacuate and many artists have decided to pool their skills to offer you sweet holiday gifts to support the fundraiser! Within 48 hours of this campaign, we've boosted donations to reach the 15k needed for this week and will continue until we can meet the larger goal to cover their survival detailed in Ezra's post here! - This is what collective power can do! I'm offering 5 commission slots for min $50 (1 of my commission spots is already claimed!), or a digital comics bundle of some recent and most loved work for $25! This is the only way to read my newest comic outside of my city since CUPW is till on strike. THIS WEEK ONLY! Until December 14!

I also want to highlight my friends @yellghoul and @hanolliver who are incredible artists accepting commissions as well as @dadfathers/@lnmei's hilarious and totally accurate office workers comic, 'CLUMP'. 15k has been raised on chuffed!! Have we hit the goal for the evacuation this week?

Yes!!!!! We are in the critical phase of the fundraiser now that evacuation is actually tenable, and the donations that come in now will decide whether or not people check out once they mistakenly believe the family no longer needs support. Our full target is still $40,000 to pay for Manal's life-saving hysterectomy in New Cairo (the reason for her emergency evacuation!) and for the treatment of Mohamed's wounds and Sarah's illness. As of today, though, December 10th 2024 -- by some small miracle -- we have indeed hit our short-term goal and Mohamed is now able to register himself and his two remaining children to join their mother Manal when she is transported to Egypt. This is a tremendous relief and Mohamed shares his gratitude with everyone who has made this possible. Please check out the FAQ I have set up for more details of the Al Manasra family's situation and how this UN-mediated medical evacuation is possible. I am hesitant to count any of our chickens until the family is 1) actually completely registered, since these donations only reach Mohamed $3,500 at a time and 2) actually evacuated! and then 3) that Manal receives the treatment she needs once they safely make it to Egypt. Both the hospital director and the recent delegation from Jordan has agreed that Manal evacuation must happen in the coming days, although we are prevented from sharing a concrete date because the occupation controls Kerem Shalom, and everyone should know by now how the occupation behaves. The irony of this Palestinian family being forced to pay for private hospital services while American taxpayer money funds single-payer healthcare for Israeli citizens as well as the bombs dropped on Gaza cannot be understated. Manal would not be put at the top of the emergency evacuation list unless there was a high likelihood agreed upon by doctors that she can make a full recovery in Egypt. This remains the family's lifeline. Please remember that the last minute holiday gifts market is still open through the 14th! Happy summer time (it's summer for me!), I hope the nice weather is treating you well 💖

3 things I want to share: Operation Olive Branch 🕊️ is a spreadsheet with vetted GoFundMe's for Palestinians, as well as some for those in DRC and Sudan. I also want to add that many of these fundraisers meet their goals through small donations not large sums from the wealthy. If this isn't evidence of our collective power and care while many of us also experience economic struggle, then idk what is!

Crips for eSims for Gaza ♿ which is actually co-coordinated by a friend!!! It pools money together for purchasing eSims for Palestinians in the Gaza strip. All the images, news, live updates, and fundraisers we see are through the use of eSims and there is always an urgent need for them!

and a Fundraising tip: Get a group of friends or one of the communities you are a part of to pick a GoFundMe from Operation Olive Branch or one of the many asks going around tumblr and campaign for them. Sometimes you can get in touch and receive updates from the family too. My friend who co-coordinates the above^^ is campaigning for someone named Hamza and we found out he's a huge football fan (for Spain lol). You can do things like run book drive and used book sale/bake sale, sell some crafts, even take fic or drawing requests if it's online friends, or even post like crazy!! Collective effort does way more! You can also try to find any local Palestinians trying to fundraise for their families or family friends!

A couple weeks ago, I led a zine making workshop/Palestinian solidarity event for my local Asian racial solidarity group. I gave a primer on zines and DIY as well as the political roots of DIY publishing, and some tutorials. The theme was reconnecting to resistance in an open learning circle since the Asian continent has a long and wide breadth history of resistance. We provided zine making supplies and I brought both some Palestinian zines and a curated collection of examples from my personal zine library! It was also potluck style.

It was kind of interesting leading this workshop! I don't consider myself to be an expert on revolutionary histories, there's a lot of theory and info to catch up on, but I read a lot of PFLP and Palestinian resistance writing when I was in my undergrad because I was able to meet Joe Sacco who was the cartoonist who published Footnotes in Gaza and Palestine (around 2017?). I also designed some posters for his Toronto visit in partnership with the TPFF. Most significantly, I read Strategy for the Liberation of Palestine by the PFLP - it is both a historical document and a live program that lays out the fundamentals of Palestinian liberation as well as localized analysis (160~ pages). There were Asian people in attendance originating from all over the continent and of varying faiths but no one was familiar with historic Palestinian resistance, only with the current narrative about israhelli occupation - so of course I was happy to to talk about Ghassan Kanafani, Leila Khaled, and the PFLP and the historic 3rd world solidarity movements across Asia!

Most people weren't familiar with zines either, so I was also very sparkly-eyed in info dumping about zines to the room! One of the participants brought musakhan rolls which are a traditional Palestinian dish... they were SO yummy... I did have more than I should have... and they included the recipe as one of the zine pages!!! There were also many Filipinos present resulting in me going home with a lot of leftover turon (it helped me survive my ongoing depressive episode in April lol)

Overall it was so nice having conversations with others regardless of where they were at in their politicization journey. There is always more to learn, and more time to spend with one another...and we can all grow together too 🫶🏼 politicization can be very personal and I think as long as we can develop principles, sense for collective, and maintain revolutionary imagination - we can survive together!

My 2023 Summary of Art! I had many wonderful experiences and opportunities. I feel so grateful that despite everything, it was a decent year for me. I feel like I am starting to feel a bit more comfortable and confident with my art to the point that experimenting feels organic to me? Thank you for joining me in another year of making art!🌷✨🌿
