post-presentation update, 15.04 TUE

i finished it about 10 minutes before class 😭 a feat for me because i was panicking right before, but i calmed down once i walked in !! bonus !!

i did bomb the structure of my discussion questions, but they took a better direction on their own with how my peers and tutor took them on. they weren’t bad? i guess? they were more an afterthought since i was more worried about actually making my slides up.

i did depend on my transcript a LOT so i’ll be sending it to my lecturer as a photo (seeing as its hand written)

ultimately, a little nervy because i felt like i didn’t do all that great, but okay because it is over !!!

also note: crazy tht this reblog got hit for mature content, but not the original post i made??? probably the cover of my euripides play collection that has a half naked maenad on it thats being flagged

reading on the bus, 11.04 FRI

currently reading ‘1984’ because i’ve been meanign to for months, and its on my reading list for one of my lit classes. catching the bus back home after a morning in my 20th century lit class, and its just a good way to wind down.

tabbing the book just in case i do it for my research assignment (which i probably will do).

sorry i’ve been gone so long, or at least i’ve felt i have been gone. mid semester slump and i’ve just been super tired. hopefully i’ll feel better soon. it’s been a bit much is all.

“Charles Sorley never had time to become an author with a public personality” (125)

from James Kirschke’s article titled “A Very Different Kind of Life”: Charles Hamilton Sorley from The Midwest Quaterly, 2008

I never like studying poetry from the First World War because phrases like this come along. I’ve been meaning to read more of the work of Sorley while I’ve been working on this assignment (it’s a short task; select one poem from the period), but this caught me because of the poem I am focusing on; ‘Such, Such is Death’. I’m not going to delve into it because I suggest reading it, it’s a good poem, and from the excerpts I’ve read in the research I’ve done, others a just as good. From how I read it and further reading, the overarching idea is that death leaves life incomplete, and it is because you are, ultimately dead, and nothing can be done about it.

assignment work, 19.03 WED

Happy wednesday!! My assignment is due this Friday so I’m getting ahead on the mini-study to write it. It’s only a short response, but I feel I need something to work off??

Anyways, the essay is basically on a keyword or phrase that contributes to American writing and America itself. It’s the importance of the keyword/phrase, its meaning, and then its themes in the American context.

Also peep the iced tea — it’s lemon and earl grey !!

Not much to say since I just started this lecture, but its interesting so far!

Everything leads back to Homer if you try hard enough in Greek Tragedy is the premise at the moment (the lecture is on The Orestia).

hi welcome back! it’s been a few months, but i’m back at uni. first week down!

today i’m just catching up on the lectures i started during the week and didn’t finish. at the moment it’s a english lit lecture. the page in the photo is on the end of the 20th century. this weeks lecture served mostly as a premable to the literary works themselves, as a historical context.

there are some gaps my lecturer missed (in my opinion) so i’m filling them in myself, with what knowledge i have. if it becomes relevant, it does. of it doesn’t, then it doesn’t.

anywho, it’s a warmer day today, so i’ve got a cold beer and the fan on. i hope everyone has a nice day today, and we’ll catch up soon!!

and this is the final assignment for this class and the year!! and im nearly done!! its been a mess writing this one if im honest. ive finished other paragraphs before even finishing the first properly 😭 however its done the trick because its getting to the end of it!!

i’ll post photos of some of the notes later though because i worked on them, and i’m a little proud of how i’m connecting things!! i’m so happy my research skills have gotten better because i was fighting for my life earlier this year 😭
