i started an internship this quarter that has me researching a lot of things i’ve never really thought i would learn about. it’s got me working a lot, too. simultaneously, i’m finishing up my degree as well as continuing on in the research apprenticeship program i started working in last quarter… the workload is genuinely endless. can’t believe it’s all almost over.

Monday August 19th

More library study this afternoon. My final exam is in two days, so I’m planning on putting in a full day of studying both today and tomorrow. It’s actually nice to spend time immersed in studying. Especially when other things in my life are up in the air.

I’m hoping to be moving soon. However that’s always a lot to deal with, even at its’ easiest. So filling my mind with Greek History instead of moving concerns is a nice break.

It’s finally getting cool here. It was sweater temperature out this afternoon. I didn’t bring one, because I assumed it would be warmer, and thus missed out on a cardigan opportunity. Alas. This means it’ll be cooler more often now, though, which I welcome with open arms. This summer was too hot for me.

Not much to say since I just started this lecture, but its interesting so far!

Everything leads back to Homer if you try hard enough in Greek Tragedy is the premise at the moment (the lecture is on The Orestia).

“kids spend too much time on their devices” well what else are they supposed to do? there’s no corner shops with pinball machines in them on every corner anymore. there’s no malls or stores in small towns for teens to hang out in without being suspected of shoplifting or kicked out for loitering. sidewalks are too broken for them to ride their bikes and there’s no bike lane in the street to make it safe for them. i just don’t understand where they expect these kids to go when they keep taking places away from them. and yes having no safe public places for them is what leads a lot of teens into addiction if they end up at a place where people aren’t truly looking out for them.

03.07.25 // mid-day cram session in the library…

just finished a speaking exam for my korean language class and immediately found a pod in the library to begin preparing my final assignments for my elementary education/mentoring class. i’ve got a lot to do, since finals week is in just a bit over a week, and it’s a little overwhelming; but there’s no more time to procrastinate, so i’ve chosen to just lock in and chip away at my work, little by little, no matter how i’m feeling.

i like these pods - located in the tunnels of the basement in my university’s library - because the small space and lack of outside distraction keeps me focused on what i’m working on. i’ll stay on the grind here just long enough that i finish something, and don’t end up late to my next lecture.

i’ve been so checked out as of late holy shit 😭

just been super tired and caught a cold, and who lnew it’d throw me out completely!!!

anyways, went to the library today, got HEAPS done. i actually used timers on my phone to time my research and breaks, which was super productive !!! the app also blocks social medias and games on my phone, so i couldnt really open anything on there either…

ive found studying in public spaces really makes me work because i feel like im being held responsible because im not in my private space??? i know no one really cares what other people are doing, but its the feeling of being out and sitting with people who can see me working, but worse, see me DISTRACTED.

anyways, super productive day. my essay due tonight, so im smashing out the rest of the writing after i post this, using the same timer method.
