What does 'couper la parole' means in French? Its basically when a person interrupts you before you have been able to finish your sentence. It is considered very rude so dont be surprised if some insults you. They are really hard on social norms and formality when it comes to speaking. Are you guilty of 'couper la parole'. Let me know in the comments. . . . . . . . . #foreignlanguages #foreignlanguage #languagelearning #languages #languagelover #frenchlanguage #languagelover #languagelovers #languagecourse #frenchblogger #instafrench #languagestudy #frenchaddict #french #polyglot #polyglots #languageteacher #languageschool #duolingo #assimil #anki #fluent #fluenz #memrise #italki #rossetastone #imafrenchie #languagegoals #livinglanguages #learnforeignlanguages (at Kissimmee, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAfww4JFFzx/?igshid=jhjxo3lyxsad

How important are listening skills in French?🤔 If you'd ask me the most important skill you need to learn any language, I, without a shadow of a doubt would say listening. It seems weird to people that I place so much emphasis on listening especially at the beginning stages of learning French but hear me out. What do babies do for a year? They just listen!!!!! Now, I'm not saying that you have to listen for a year to be able to learn French, not at all. However. listening is indeed the most underrated skill and yet the most important one. If I needed to assign a percentage to skills in French it would go like this: 40% listening 30% speaking 20% Writing 10% grammar and vocab You should be spending the majority of your time listening and speaking and sprinkling in writing, grammar and vocab. All of them are important skills in French but if you want to learn fast, your best bet is to focus on listening and speaking. Again with the baby analogy but it's so true that it bears repeating. Babies are absorbing everything they see and listen to for a year, then they start to babble a couple of words and they don't care if they are mispronouncing them. They want to finally speak. They are eager to speak! When they finally start 'writing' it's just not legible and you won't see a toddler complaining about forgetting to put the gender and number on a noun right? Then my advice to you is to listen as much as you can, speak as much as you possibly can and forget about mispronouncing words or not writing perfectly. Who cares? Probably just you... . . . . . . . . #foreignlanguages #foreignlanguage #languagelearning #languages #languagelover #frenchlanguage #languagelover #languagelovers #languagecourse #frenchblogger #instafrench #languagestudy #frenchaddict #french #polyglot #polyglots #languageteacher #languageschool #duolingo #assimil #anki #fluent #fluenz #memrise #italki #rossetastone #imafrenchie #languagegoals #livinglanguages #learnforeignlanguages https://www.instagram.com/p/CAfwNFulPNh/?igshid=ngkgncgks2g1

If you want to learn French you definitely have to know that it is a process and along the way, there will be a few bumps and moments where you just want to quit. When that happens remind yourself of the things that you are willing to let go to have what you want to have. For me, it sounds like this: I'm willing to let go of my introvert nature and put myself out there to have the life of my dreams. What does letting go sounds to you? What are you willing to let go of to have the life of your dream? Comment down below. - - - - - - #foreignlanguages #foreignlanguage #languagelearning #languages #languagelover #frenchlanguage #languagelover #languagelovers #languagecourse #frenchblogger #instafrench #languagestudy #frenchaddict #french #polyglot #polyglots #languageteacher #languageschool #duolingo #assimil #anki #fluent #fluenz #memrise #italki #rossetastone #imafrenchie #languagegoals #livinglanguages #learnforeignlanguages (at Kissimmee, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAfwHBel114/?igshid=68ergwnl3cob

What to Do When People Interrupt You with Texts, Emails, and DM's If you let emails, DM's, and other notifications constantly interrupt you, then you'll never be able to truly focus on your work. Period - A quick tip to start the day right is to leave your phone in your room until at least 10 am if you work from home. If you don't, maybe you still check your phone each time you see a notification or a text. Put it on airplane mode when you need to truly focus on the task at hand. People underestimate uninterrupted time but boy, have I've been dealing with this issue lately with my son studying from home. He is 10 years old so you might think he would survive without the word mom for at least 5 minutes. Wrong! So I set my expectations: -When you see my cube timer running, I am working. Do not interrupt me unless it's an emergency. - All kids in the world think that the most insignificant thing is an emergency, therefore, I ask my son to write whatever he needs me to help him with, put it on my desk, and continue working on other stuff until my timer goes off. -When my timer goes off I do pay attention and solve whatever issue he might be having, after I work uninterrupted for 30 minutes. Rinse and repeat. -Another thing that helps is to try to maintain a routine even now that we are quarantined. We are not waking up at the usual time but even though we wake up later we do the same things as before, in the same order. All progress happens in a series of small stretches outside of your comfort zone so hold on to those small stretches and make the best of them. You will see progress but only if you are consistent. - Do you have any tips for people that work from home? (at Kissimmee, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CADaBfoli0U/?igshid=1xxwtbbzfdnsc

Many years together yet it feels like it was yesterday that I lost you. 27 years together, 10 years apart, not a single day in my life that I dont remember you. In good times I remember how the house was always filled with kids, not your own, kids from the neighborhood because they were drawn to your beautiful energy. In difficult times, I remember how much life threw at you and yet you were always a kind, selfless, forgiving soul. I miss all the times I wish you were here. I terribly miss the fact that you were not here to know your first and only grandchild. Yet, I thank God for each second of those 27 years that you were with me. I couldnt have asked for a better mom. You would listen to me for hours and yet you listen some more. You were always there for me, always. Whether to pick me up from my first job at 3 am or to drop me off to college at 7 am when I didn't have a car. You were more than a mom to me. You were my best friend. I miss our long talks and that's why I always look for your guidance in my decisions even if you are no longer here. As I prayed this morning in front of your ashes all I could think about was how much I miss you but also how much you gave me, out of pure unconditional love. As I finish my prayer I remembered that I am a strong woman because you raise me and there's no better gift than that. You may be gone physically but you taught me to be resilient, to be forgiving, to not dwell in biterness for things beyond your control. That will never leave me. That is your legacy to me, to my son and to generations to come. If I had to describe you in one sentence it would be like this: A positive strong woman who taught me how to be strong, independent yet gentle and forgiving. Happy Mother's Day. Love you to the moon and back. #mothersday #happymothersday #mothers (at Kissimmee, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAA7uo9lena/?igshid=1um51b6z7iid9

This is probably the most important lesson I've learned about how to effectively manage my time. Batching my work. Simple When you see my calendar you might see that I'm focused two days in a row on working on my master's degree thesis. Then you'll see that I followed that with two days of recording or one day of catching up on small tasks. The thing is your brain doesn't like the constant multitasking we subject on it every time we change from one task to another. I promise you that you will accomplish way more if you plan your goals ahead of time and batch your days. This is what my student batching looks like: Monday- Discussion Forums Tuesday- Reading Wednesday- Work on Research Thursday- Work on Research Friday- Reading Saturday- Catch Up Day Sunday- Relax and Plan Next Week You see that I don't have many tasks in a day and frankly I don't even need to because on occasion if I forgot to do something I may need to go back and reread something and that is ok. The point is that my focus is only on one thing per day and 3 goals for the week. How do you plan your days? What system do you use? - - - - - #frenchbyfrenchie #french #france #paris #ais #english #learnfrench #frenchgirl #frenchie #francais #frenchlanguage #speakfrench #frenchwords #frenchvocabulary #learningfrench #delf #frenchclass #languefran #ilovefrench #francais #apprendrelefran #language #frenchteacher #studyfrench #languagelearning #apprendrefrancais #frenchlesson #frenchcourse #francophile #parlerfran #studyblog https://www.instagram.com/p/B_-Ld88lcZz/?igshid=1nss8la1x5ztl
