Could UDON noodles be better in Laksa?
Could UDON noodles be better in Laksa?
LAKSUDON from Jenggood Jom Makan
Over the years, the traditional Laksa has gone through many variations such as Tom Yum Laksa and Assam Laksa. However, the noodles used in those dishes somewhat remain the same for most part. But Jenggood Jom Makan took a different approach and instead, change the regular laksa noodles into udon noodles.
To be clear, they made their own laksa recipe from…

The MOST Rarest Indonesian Street Food in Singapore is Found!
The MOST Rarest Indonesian Street Food in Singapore is Found!
MIE AYAM from Planet Bakso
Beef ball noodles have always been a staple street food in Indonesia. You can find them on street carts or even at well-established restaurants. However, there is one street dish that has yet to be made mainstream in Singapore and that is MIE AYAM. The first encounter I had with this dish was at a Tok Tok Indonesian Soup Houseoutlet at Paya Lebar Square. Other than…

Is there a way to spoil something great? Introducing the Honey Chicken Rice
Is there a way to spoil something great? Introducing the Honey Chicken Rice
HONEY CHICKEN RICE from Tenderfresh
As far as I can remember, Tenderfresh has always been serving their Roasted Chicken in 2-ways, mainly either as a whole chicken or with flavoured rice. And when they serve it with rice, customers are able to choose from 2 wings or 1/4 Chicken (Roasted leg) or 1/2 Chicken. Only until recently have I found out that they also serve it “cutlet” style where they…

Would you ever eat a Crispy Noodle Hor Fun? FYI, it does exists!
Would you ever eat a Crispy Noodle Hor Fun? FYI, it does exists!
Ipoh Hor Fun from Yassin Kampung
Sometimes I noticed that the Kway Teow noodles I get with Hor Fun have been sauteed in their iron wok to give it a little “chao tar” flavour. But this was the first time I ever seen anyone literally deep fry the noodles! The result is a very cracker-like strips of noodles.

Beef Hor Fun exists?
Beef Hor Fun exists?
Beef Hor Fun from Yassin Kampung
Only until recently that I realise there might just be more than 1 type of Hor Fun in Singapore. Backtrack a little, one of my favourite Halal Chinese dishes is Hor Fun. Usually (in the past), the only Hor Fun that you would get is those that includes seafood like squid and prawns. But as years gone by, they started to have Chicken Hor Fun as potentially a lot…

Crispiest Chicken Cutlet found at the most Unexpected Place!
Crispiest Chicken Cutlet found at the most Unexpected Place!
LEMON CHICKEN RICE from Tenderfresh Express
Back then, we only had 2 options – the regular hainanese chicken rice and the roasted chicken rice. However, as the years gone by, the idea of fusing 2 or more cuisines together become mainstream and produces dishes like the LEMON CHICKEN RICE. Instead of using the traditional steamed or roasted chicken, this dish uses a fried, boneless cutlet of…

Could this be the most worth it "Chicken Rice"?
Could this be the most worth it “Chicken Rice”?
WHOLE ROASTED LEG with FLAVOURED RICE from Tenderfresh Express
In early 2000s, Tenderfresh food stalls only existed at neighbourhood hawker centres, while showing off their roasted chicken and chicken wings on turnover grills. Nowadays, you can find their Express outlets at nearly every mall in Singapore. And yet, they have never changed their recipe for both their Fried Spring Chicken and…

Can you stuff beef in beef? - BAKSO DAGING
Can you stuff beef in beef? – BAKSO DAGING
BAKSO DAGING from PLANET BAKSO
BAKSO DAGING is a kind of a weird beef ball. Instead of stuffing the beef ball with other types of meats, the creators at Planet Bakso decided to fill up the cavity with minced beef. This makes it the beefiest beef ball in Singapore and probably, the world. As usual, they serve it along with noodles (Flat Yellow, Bee Hoon or both), bean sprouts, fried shallots,…
