His shadows trailed around her skirts, through the ends of her curls. The darker he grew, the lighter she became. As if the contrast was essential. As if, in sharing together what each they lacked, they became infinite.

It was ruined hearts and broken, jagged pieces of soul made flesh.

It was him.

It was her.

It was choice.

And Elain and Azriel were burning with it, two lost, dying stars, blazing through the great night sky.

Seeing this story come to life in such a timeless, evocative way has left me forever changed, and I'm so happy to share this stunning piece with you all.

When I think about the essence of Elain and Azriel, I always remember the Yin-Yang philosophy: The duality of the universe, different but complementary, that working together can create harmony, balance. There is no meaning for light without darkness and for darkness without light.

In this way, just like "Elain stepped out of a shadow", Azriel's shadows can be "lightened into sunshine."

We where saving this for a special occasion and what’s more special than one of our birthdays! Today’s (Morgans) special day!

The inspiration behind this scene is a mix of this two quotes that happened during Azriel’s POV. We wanted something that expressed comfort and intimacy. See how many you can find within the art!

Beyond the windows, darkness had indeed fallen. The longest night of the year. I found Elain studying it, beautiful in her amethyst-colored gown. I made to move toward her, but someone beat me to it.

The shadowsinger was clad in a black jacket and pants similar to Rhysand’s—the fabric immaculately tailored and built to fit his wings. He still wore his Siphons atop either hand, and shadows trailed his footsteps, curling like swirled embers, but there was little sign of the warrior otherwise. Especially as he gently said to my sister, “Happy Solstice.”

Elain turned from the snow falling in the darkness beyond and smiled slightly. “I’ve never participated in one of these.”

When I read this, I couldn’t help but imagine Azriel being the one to find Elain after a mishap with a rosebush and using it as an opportunity to share a stolen, tender moment of caring for her as he has throughout the series.

It would be so poetic for Azriel to be the one to care for and bandage the wounds on Elain’s hands, considering the scars he carries on his hands from his own painful past. @oli_diart is the angel who brought this idea to life for me! I am just in awe of her talent, her attention to detail, and her ability to capture expressions.❤️❤️

And thank you so much to the lovelies running the @elriel-month and for making this event possible! So happy that I can contribute to this beautiful month! 🥰

One of my absolute favorite artists to work with will always be the ever amazing @luxury_banshee, who not only gave this piece her all, but I am more than proud and grateful to call my beloved friend. When the prompts were announced, we couldn’t wait to begin and to work on something beautiful and special together, so here it is! We have Elain and Azriel sharing an intimate moment in an enchanted garden, with their true mating bond finally snapping into place. I couldn’t be more pleased and in love with how this piece turned out. The Elain-Archeron-lover brainrot is so real because I heard the Met Gala theme this year is ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’ and the dress code is ‘Garden of Time’ and my brain instantly went Omg Elain coded.
