welcome to the jrwi fic recs blog! are you searching for a specific genre of fic set in one of the jrwi campaigns but can't find it easily? have you written a fic you're real proud of and want to spread your enthusiasm? or do you just like lists and a sense of community in the fic writing space?

well, you've come to the right place

an explanation of how this blog works lies beneath the cut

this blog was inspired by @former-jrwi-fic-recs. please go browse their blog and send love their way

who runs this blog?

as of now, this blog is run solely by bee @wings-of-flying. i use she/ey/zey pronouns

how do i engage with this blog?

there are two major ways this blog works. you can either submit a link to a fic using either submissions or the ask box using this format:

title, author (embedded link)

short description plus any content warnings

or, you can send an ask requesting for a fic/a list of fics which fit the vibe you're searching for

what sort of fics will be recommended?

any campaign can be covered in these recommendations, however help may be needed when it comes to campaigns i haven't read fics for. in the case that i can't think of any recommendations, the request will be opened up to the community, who can respond in replies or reblogs

nsfw fics are allowed. gore and smut is welcomed. this is not the place to yuck anyone's yum, and i will remain unbiased with recommendations to the best of my ability

what happens if no one sends in requests/recommendations?

in the unfortunate event where this happens i'll start by sharing my own recommendations and see what we can do from there

are there any rules?

yes. i will not tolerate any negativity or criticism here, unless it's directed at me or the way i run the blog and is constructive. this is a place to share our favourite fics and spread positivity, don't ruin the vibe

also, this isn't a rule per se but if you read a fic recommended here, i would love for you to comment on it. as a writer myself, comments mean the world. they don't have to be elaborate. even something as simple as a heart emoji or a keysmash is so lovely to receive

how do i search this blog with tumblr's shitty search system?

i will be using tags for each campaign, following the style of #jrwi riptide or #jrwi bitb so if you're searching by campaign, search the corresponding tag via this blog, then click the correct tag on the first post that pops up and all with that tag should be displayed

other tags i will be using will vary based on the vibes of the fic

for submissions the tag will be #jfr submission and for asks #jfr asks

this list of tags may be expanded in the future but for now that will suffice

Get You Off My Mind

Chip is lost in the Backrooms. There are no night skies or stars, no good food or ships, no laughter, no parties, no family… nothing. At every turn, there is a new, anomalous danger, and Chip has to rethink every survival skill he’s ever had. Gillion is lost in the Backrooms. Everything is strange hallways and empty stomachs and wishful thinking and wandering. Wandering endlessly. Until he’s saved by the Major Explorer Group, a team of thousands, maybe even millions, who aspire to help people get out of this hellish place, and they finally give him a purpose. Tragedy then strikes time and time again, as it always does in the Backrooms, leaving Gillion and Chip to wonder if they'll ever make it out.

Dear Lunadeyis,

I’ve got… a problem. This (kinda hot?) Spider-Pirate-Lady stole my heart. I don’t mean that in the typical Chip sense though. This time, it’s literal. Anyway, she turned me into bones, Spooky, scary, skeleton style. My best friend, Gillion, he’s a Paladin of yours, and he’s really upset about all of this. I’m also sad about all this, but Gill… he’s your Chosen One, or whatever. Cheer him up, please? Maybe an easy quest to slay a small, evil dragon to save a very morally perfect princess?

Well, if you can help or not, send good vibes his way. He’s not even saying “What the scallop!” anymore.

Whatever happens, I pray to you, that we can find a way to just roll with it.

“Your little friend’s got a hit placed on him by the most powerful man in Allport.” The man tightens his grip, crushing Chip’s lithe wrists under the palms of his hands. “Musta’ done something real stupid to get Captain Price after your head.”

Captain Price.

Chip’s breath catches inside his throat.

It’s not that he’s surprised, not really. There’s always been a part of Chip — deep in his ribcage — which knew this was coming. Of course his freedom was temporary, a brief interjection in some kind of never ending nightmare. Chip’s not ready, though — he’ll never be ready, not when his organs are dust and his crew is nothing more than a fable — so it can’t be true.

He won’t let it be true.
