Hi everyone, today I'm making a post for Ola @ola987! She is a mathematics teacher in Gaza who has had her life upheaved by the genocide, and simultaneous scholasticide, in which schools, universities, teachers and other educational and cultural infrastructure in Gaza has been destroyed. She is in need of your critical support so that she and her family may be able to rebuild and recover. She has currently raised $77,547 out of her $85k goal, so we're 91% of the way there!
Please continue to support; the ceasefire is not the end and eyes and hearts should still be on Gaza and Palestine!!
If you can, please match my $5 donation! Anything helps, especially now as she needs the funds to care for her family and to continue her education! Let's get her to her funding goal!

I’m not surprised about the Children Of Blood and Bone casting decisions. I kinda figured they were going to switch Amari’s and Inan’s storylines because heavens forbid a dark skin Black girl be humanized on screen and have her problems be taken seriously. The colorism Amari faces in the books is pretty blatant and given that she is a princess in a kingdom with a horrible colorist caste system, her skin color brings a lot of scorn and speculation. Inan on the other hand is lighter and because of this is often carrying out the will of his father King Saran. He understands and weaponizes his lightness to maintain the rigid caste system and does a lot of harm because of it. He was also slated to be the next king and carry on this harmful legacy. Amari being the one to potentially topple that and rewrite history gave much needed depth to the story. But no they couldn’t give that storyline to a young dark skinned Black girl. Hollywood is too misogynistic and colorist to believe in the beauty of that story. Amari being a princess is definitely another reason they made her light skinned. Iykyk. Also, like wtf is the story going to be now. There is literally no story now. I’m not even joking when I say the entire plot is gone because of the decisions they made. I guess we are up for another Percy Jackson circa 2010. Where elements of the plot were there but none of it made sense because they didn’t even attempt to understand what made the story resonant in the first place. Of course the west just has to maintain its narrative around colorism and wasn’t about to even give an inch. Let’s not forget the role Hollywood plays in maintaining it.

Help Sahar's family in these difficult days @reem-reem-1
Hello friends, Sahar's family needs to reach their temporary goal of $10,000. They're now at $5,759.
This money will be used to make improvements to their tent, which at the moment, cannot withstand the rain and wind.
The money will also be used to protect their children from malnutrition in light of the famine that's spreading in Gaza.
They have 10 children, including two infants, who lack food, water and medicine.
With the approaching opening of the Rafah crossing and the occupier allowing travel soon, she may be able to get her family out.
Your support now is very important to get them out. Let's try to get them to their goal.
They urgently need our help. Any amount can help.
Please share this post to help spread their campaign.

Help my children please don't skip 🙏
Hello guys, I am Rana from Gaza, a university professor with a master's degree in statistics and a mother of 4 children. We lost our home due to the war, and my workplace, the Islamic University, was destroyed, as was my husband's workplace, and we became homeless and jobless. My husband and I are trying to provide a decent life for our children. Please help us. Any donation you make will help us rebuild our lives 😭🙏

A new suffering and displacement 😔🚨
Hello everyone from khan younis city in the south of Gaza Strip , now its 3:10 am the temperature is 10c it's very cold especially inside the tent ⛺ we don't know what to do, even we are afraid to light up a fire because of reconnaissance aircraft exactly (Quadcopter). We live in Mawasi Al Qarara next to the sea so the weather here is so cold.
Hope we can back to our place soon and the war end.
Anyone can help, donate to us we need to buy some necessities as :
—some Fabrics and blankets to make the tent warmer from the inside .
—nylon cover sheets to protect the tent from rains.
—Some pieces of warm clothes for our baby .
TBH : we spent all our money which we saved during the last displacement (No.13) especially the transportation was very expensive. In addition to that the prices of food are crazy, a 25 kg bag of flour costs $200.

I’ve decided to go back to school at 26. I left college at 22 and haven’t been back since but I’m going back. I’m very proud of myself because at 23 I was homeless, 24 I was going from place to place, 25 I was settled but undergoing a lot of financial difficulties, and at 26 I’ll be moving forward. So here’s to 26 and the start of something new.

Help me save my child and my family before it is too late.🙏🙏🍉💔🇵🇸

My family and I are facing unimaginable hardship due to the ongoing war in Gaza. We have lost our home, my career, and our sense of safety. Now, we are living in a small tent, trying to survive each day amidst the chaos and destruction. My house was once a symbol of safety and hope, and now I can only sit in the tent with my wife and children. I've just finished building our house, and it's a place where I finally feel safe. But in the blink of an eye, the ongoing war destroyed everything. The sounds of explosions filled the air, and I ran away with nothing but the clothes we were wearing. Now, where our memories and dreams once lived, all that remains is destruction and ruin.

Making this my pinned post!
Tumblr media
In the midst of the simple life that was filled with happiness and tranquility in our home, I, Rewaa, worked as a teacher, and my husband Shadi was a hairdresser. We lived in our warm home with our five children: Tala, Layan, Hala, Mohammed, and Haya. We dreamed of a bright future for our children, especially our daughter Tala, who was in her final year of high school, filled with ideas and ambitions for a promising university future.
Then the war came and stole everything from us. We lost our home, our jobs, and our children's dreams of completing their education. Our lives became full of fear and despair. We were forced to move and live in a tent, lacking the most basic components of life.
Life in the tent is harsh, and we live in constant fear. We desperately want to escape this hell, but we don't have enough money to do so. We need $7,000 for each member of our seven-member family to leave here and reach a safe place.
We are asking for your help to save our lives and the lives of our children so that they can live a dignified life like other children around the world. Your donation can open the door of hope for us and give our children a chance to build a new future far from the horrors of war. Your assistance means the world to us; it is the difference between life and death.
Please, donate whatever you can and be the reason a family striving to live in peace and safety is saved. Thank you for your generosity and humanity.
With hope and gratitude,
Rewaa and Shady

I don’t want to be defeatist but after seeing the return of ableist slurs, language, and behaviors within “leftist” and “liberal” spaces. Along with the lack of masking and other covid precautions…I’m starting to really get nervous about the outcomes of any sort of revolution. I’m sorry to say it, but some American leftists and liberals are just…..performative (I’m being nice with the some because so many of them don’t take covid precautions.) They don’t mask, don’t listen to disabled people, and have a huge problem with speaking over disabled people. They just read theory and often times barely put any of it into practice beyond words. Well a loud sect of them (the ones who want to be Twitter celebs and write scholarly articles for prestigious universities) do that, but there’s a good few that’s not screaming “JUST READ” at people and actually idk helping….. Like what’s the point of all that reading and you are refusing to stop the spread of a deadly virus which needs YOUR body as host to do so. You can’t say you represent a progressive lane of thought that is anti colonist and then don’t comprehend or care about what disabled folks have to say. Your just blowing shit out your ass and praying it don’t stink. BUT IT DO! Y’all are funky as FUCK! It’s like how you going to succeed at a revolution without the people who gave it its name? Remember!!!!! Harriet Tubman was disabled!!!! Her disability is not something that can be ignored in the context of her legacy. So for you to sit on your high horse and believe that you can have your revolution without being in community with disabled people is arrogant at best. YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE!
