My Daughter Cries When She Drinks Water, Because It Hurts Her Stomach

Have you ever seen a child cry because of water?

Not because it’s missing. But because her body is too weak to digest it.

My 4-year-old daughter, Masa, is slowly fading. Not from injury. Not from war wounds. But from malnutrition.

Her little body can’t handle the contaminated water we’re forced to drink. Her belly is always empty. Her bones are showing. Even the smallest sip causes pain.

And she’s not alone.

🩺 Our baby Wateen is sick constantly. 🩺 Our eldest, Sham, lost weight so quickly her cheeks collapsed. 🩺 Their mother, Samar, sacrifices every bite of food for them.

This isn’t a life. This is a slow death.

We haven’t had electricity or clean water since October 2023. We’ve been displaced 11 times. We live in a tent that rots in the heat and leaks in the cold. Bread is a luxury. Milk is a dream.

But there is hope, a narrow window to evacuate legally and safely.
