Northeast Basement Part 1 Analysis!
art credit to @/linkeduniverse!
So Warriors chose Wild as his dungeon partner because he thought he had experience, but he didn't ask to confirm. just a few pages in, we have our first miscommunication.
Although his new sword from Four is impressive and a massive improvement over whatever he was wielding before, I can't imagine it does all the work for him. Wild absolutely has some great sword skills, and I think he kind of downplays that a little here.
however this is a compliment towards four also! and after the events around sunset part 7 or so, this is a great step for their relationship
Wild's right, it's not like he has no experience at all. 120 shrines is quite a lot, and although they are different from dungeons in the previous games, he probably knows enough to not make this dungeon a complete disaster for his group. And even if he didn't...
(from this post)
by any chance does Wind have access to his pendant thing? I haven't played Wind Waker yet, but if so that would be great, since Warriors and Time (being the two main leaders of the chain) could talk to each other and help them figure stuff out.
I've already seen the totk references mentioned by other people so I'm not going to go too much into it, but it made me laugh ;D I guess my next question would be, how will Warriors react to Wild's solutions to the dungeon's puzzles? The former prefers to make plans, the latter just does whatever works. They will really need to talk to each other and develop a general idea of how they're going to approach this.

DISASTER DUOOOOOOOOOOOO
LESGOOOO
okay LU analysis time!!!

skjdfkgksdlfjgsdjfghjdk JOJO THIS MAN. THIS MAN. WHY IS HE SO AMAZING.

so firstly, Warriors asks if Twilight has trained Wild with a sword. he asks this because i think Wild has probably told him that Twilight was with him during his adventure. or he hasn’t told him and Wars just knows that Twilight and Wild are close, so it would be plausible that Twilight had trained him with a sword.
none of this matters though, because Wild responds with that only his training to be a knight trained him with a sword.
he then talks about the blade that Four made for him. Four is a smith, it makes sense why the blade is made well. he probably learned from Melari or someone. or his grandfather, right?
AND JOJO EVEN SNUCK IN THE BEST LIL JOKE
so Warriors asks where Wild thinks he’ll be in five years. totk. and Wild responds with “hopefully not dead, i’ll be surprised if i have all my limbs!”
wild buddy. i have some bad news for you…

yeah ummmmmmmmm poor wild ig
Wars then asks where he wants to be in 5 years and Wild has a small existential crisis.
also can i just say that i love this duooo they’re so underrated.

the enemy we see here is called a Spark. i’ve matched it to the one from the ART of the Link’s Awakening remake. not the actual game. interesting…. (the ones in the actual game are much more yellow than green.)
sparks are, again, a downfall timeline enemy, which basically confirms that we are in fact in the downfall timeline. again, like the moblin from the last update, these are from Link’s Awakening which was a dream. sooooo our boys are in a dream?? i think it’s possible but unlikely.
something i found interesting about their placement is that they’re on the ceiling. why would they be on the ceiling if the disaster duo isn’t going up there? i feel like maybee there could be an item that allows them to walk on walls or gravity flip or something like that. the pathblades and water on the floor support this idea. although, if this was technically a 2D dungeon, that idea wouldn’t really work… hmm… interesting thought tho

pathblade. Wild almost gets his toes cut off. pretty typical i’d say. i’ve matched the pathblade to the one from A Link Between Worlds. not a perfect match, but it’ll do. it’s also kinda similar to the one from Phantom Hourglass, but based on what we already know about our boys’ surroundings, and that Phantom Hourglass is in the Adult Timeline, this doesn’t seem likely. so, albw it is.

and finally, Wild pulls out the sheikah slate. there’s two options for runes he could be considering using.
1. stasis to freeze the pathblade while they cross the water. there are multiple pathblades tho and Wild can use stasis on only 1 thing at a time so… idk
2. cryonis to make an ice bridge across the water. if this was the “intended solution” to the puzzle (like i feel like this is a thing that the devs would do to us in a loz game) then it would make A WHOLE LOT more sense why the sparks are on the ceiling; cryonis makes raised ice cubes so then while Wars and Wild cross, they’d have to dodge the sparks. hmm that makes sense lolll
we received a lot with this update!! very fun!! yet still, questions are being posed!! i’m excited to see what comes next; thank you JoJo!!

Written for @cheshire-cait-sidhe for the 2025 Legend of Link Fic Fight!
Prompt was “The Hero of the Minish knows fairies are real, obviously. But the idea of a jolly red man who visits every house in the kingdom in one night is just ridiculous. (Link does not believe in Santa Claus)”
Summary: “Really,” said Hyrule. “For someone who always talks about the Minish, I’m surprised you don’t believe in Santa.” -- Four does not believe in Santa Claus.
The chain’s second winter together wasn’t anything unusual. They had a tree this time, although it was a little lopsided from all the kinstone pieces Four had strung on one side. A Triforce balanced at the top. Sky was carving something out of wood and tossing the scraps into the campfire, being careful to not get any in Wild’s pot of hot cocoa. Legend was telling stories to the group.
“... and with all the snow piled up on the side, I could jump in through the chimney. I didn’t realize there was a woman inside. She mistook me for Santa Claus!” Legend laughed.
“I don’t get it,” said Four. “There’s no way she actually thought you were Santa.” He shrugged. “I don’t see why not. A man entering through a chimney wearing a hat and tunic sounds pretty similar to Santa to me.”
“But Santa’s not real,” Four said, looking back at the tree.
“You don’t believe in Santa?”
The smithy shook his head. “Nope. You do?”
“Really,” said Hyrule. “For someone who always talks about the Minish, I’m surprised you don’t believe in Santa.”
“Don’t believe in fairies either?” Legend added jokingly.
“What?! I never said that. We all know that fairies are real.” Four held up a pink one in a bottle. “We’ve seen them for ourselves. And the Minish — my entire first adventure revolved around them! But it’s just not possible for one person to visit every house in Hyrule in one night.”
Legend stared at him. “You seem like the type of person to try and explain magic away with logic.”
“You’re right.” Four took a deep breath. “Here we go. There’s 8 towns and 15 stables in the champion’s Hyrule, right?”
“Right…” Wild said, squinting at Four.
“So let’s say there’s 25 people in each town and 10 in each stable. That’s 350 people. And Santa only delivers presents at night, when it’s dark outside and most people are in bed. That’s only 8 hours. Most of that time is spent traveling, since it would take a while to make it between settlements. Now he has about 4 hours to deliver presents, and I’m being generous.” Warriors raised an eyebrow. “You’re really getting into this.”
“Just wait! When you do the math, he would have less than 45 seconds per person! Who can deliver presents that fast?”
“Something like a Loftwing would be quite fast,” said Sky. “And doesn’t Santa have helpers? Oh, like the Minish, maybe?”
Four rolled his eyes. “The Minish can’t override math, no matter how magical they are.”
The camp quieted as Wild passed cups of hot chocolate around. Four thought that was the end of the argument. It was ridiculous, he thought, that someone their age could still believe in something so unreasonable. Maybe he could forgive the sailor a little, but 13-almost-14 was still far too old.
Wind suddenly sat up. “But then who ate the cookies we left out last year?”
On the other side of the tree, Wild’s cheeks turned bright red, and he curled up in an attempt to become as small as a minish.

Characters: Purah, Impa Words: 652
Summary: It was about as regular of a day as it could have been at the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab, at least until Purah decided to pull herself and Impa through a portal.
It was about as regular of a day as it could have been at the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab. The ancient flame at the entrance burned brightly, fueling whatever equipment Purah needed for her latest invention. Inside, the young engineer squinted at the notes on the table and pushed her glasses up.
“Interesting,” she muttered, walking to the chalkboard in the front of the room. “If I’ve done everything correctly, all I need is one more ancient core, and then this little Guardian should be up and running again!”
Impa placed a bag on the table. “I have one right here.”
“Perfect!” Purah said, slipping it in and pressing a button. “Watch this!”
The tiny Guardian whirred to life. It looked around for a few seconds and materialized a blue portal into the air.
“Huh. That wasn’t exactly supposed to happen.” She grabbed Impa’s arm. “Well, it can’t hurt to explore a litt–”
“Purah, NO–!”
--
The two of them landed hard. Dust flew up in the air. Lava bubbled next to them.
Impa wiped her hand over her forehead. “Where are we?”
“What?” Purah said, snapping another picture on the Sheikah Slate. “Portal led to a cave. Based on the environment, likely in the Eldin region. Time period unknown.”
“Purah, listen! What’s going on here? There’s like a thousand Stalkoblins!” She pointed to a horde of monsters just a few hundred feet away from them. In the distance, a warrior wearing a green tunic and a blue scarf cut through the crowd, pointing to other soldiers and ordering them around. “That one’s looking at us.”
Another figure sprinted over to them, their blade and armor clanking as they ran. “What are you two doing? Are you from here?”
“Uh, no, it’s a long–” Purah started.
The woman, probably a bit older than Impa, stepped in front of her. “No time for stories. Either help or get out of the way.”
Impa stared at the crest on the woman’s face and chest. “Another Sheikah,” she said, turning to Purah. “We should probably help.”
“Hold this area,” the woman barked to Purah. “You over there, come with me.”
Impa followed the Sheikah back outside. Purah stayed in the cave, talking to the blue-scarfed warrior.
“Ever heard of the Hateno region?” she asked, her slate out and ready to take notes.
The blue fairy at his side jingled. “No,” it said. “These are the Eldin Caves. You’re not from here?”
“Probably not.” Purah took a picture of the man. “How about Guardians? You know what those are?”
They shook his head.
“Hmm,” Purah said to herself. “Eldin Caves. At least 10,000 years in the past.”
“In the past?” the fairy said. “Are you a time traveler or something?”
“I guess. Not on purpose, though. What’s your name?”
“I’m Proxi! This guy’s Link.”
“I… know a Link, too,” Purah said, taking another look at the man. His tunic pattern, although not the same as the Link she knew, seemed similar enough. And the sword and shield he carried was proof that he at least had some kind of training as a knight. “I see. And the Sheikah who just dragged my assistant away?”
“Impa.”
Purah’s eyebrows furrowed up. “Huh? That’s strange…”
--
Impa trailed behind the other Sheikah, watching as she effortlessly twirled and jumped to clear out the waves of enemies. “You again!” they shouted. “What’s your name? Help me guard this Bombchu.”
“I’m Impa,” she said, running over.
The other Impa blinked. “You’re serious.”
“I don’t know what’s going on here, but yes.” “We’ll talk later. Just do as you’re told.”
“Got it.”
The older Impa ran off towards the other side of the battlefield, leaving the younger one staring in awe and resisting every urge to keep following her. She turned back towards the Bombchu. Figuring things out could wait a little longer, she figured. Right now, she had a job to do.It was about as regular of a day as it could be at the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab. Written for @fantomodrako for the 2025 Legend of Link Fic Fight! Prompt was “If Link (LU Legend) has a rabbit form, then what does his rabbit-themed Lorulean counterpart turn into? Link and Ravio end up transformed somehow.”
Characters: Link / LU Legend, Ravio Words: 545
Summary: Link held up his hand. “Okay, then. I bet a purple rupee that you’ll become a purple bunny.”
“It’s a deal,” Ravio said, snatching the rupee and pocketing it in his bag before Link could react. -- Link challenges Ravio to find out what he becomes when transformed.
Link held his tunic in one hand and his satchel in the other. “You’re going to have to get off my bed.”
Ravio was sprawled out on the sheets with a pile of rupees grouped by color in front of him. “Hmm?” he said, holding up a rupee before stuffing it away. “I’m organizing.”
Link sighed. “It’s getting late, Ravio. Off.”
“Why?” He flopped backward with a grin. “Because you need to burrow up like the little bunny you are?”
“Oh yeah? If I’m a bunny, what are you?” Link said, smirking.
Ravio blinked. “Uhh… I don’t actually know.” He sat up straighter. “Lorule isn’t the Dark World. I’ve never seen what I would become.”
Link paused for a moment and began to put his tunic back on. “I have an idea. Let’s go find out.”
“And what exactly is this idea, Mr. Hero?” Ravio asked, standing up. “How are you going to transform me anyway? The Dark World’s the Sacred Realm now, right?”
Link nodded. “The corruption is gone, but some of the magic still remains. I didn’t realize that either, until Zelda and I made our wish in the Sacred Realm after my journey.”
“And she saw your fluffy pink fur?” Ravio smiled.
“Don’t remind me,” he said, playfully smacking his friend on the back.
“I don’t know…”
Link held up his hand. “Okay, then. I bet a purple rupee that you’ll become a purple bunny.”
“It’s a deal,” Ravio said, snatching the rupee and pocketing it in his bag before Link could react.
“Hey!”
“I’ll give it back if you’re right. But only if you promise to transform too.”
Link reached into his pouch, took out his moon pearl, and placed it on the table. “Fine. Come with me.”
Kakariko Village was only a few minutes from Link’s home. Link led Ravio along the path, the former taking a moment to look at the bird statue spinning in the wind as he walked by it. They reached a spot near a fence, and Link slipped on his power bracelets and lifted the rock blocking their path. He pointed at the swirling blue portal it revealed. “There it is.”
Ravio squinted and peered in. “You first.”
“Coward,” Link said, stepping forward. The light of the portal swallowed him, and his shadow became fluffy with big ears and a tail.
“Ha!” Ravio laughed after he jumped in too. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen your bunny form before. You’re even cuter than I thought.”
Link just stared at him. “What… are you?”
--
“So what did he turn into?” Wind asked after Legend told the story to them one night, although he had left out any details about his own transformation.
Legend shrugged. “That’s the thing. I have no idea. He had yellow eyes, this blue, heart-shaped face, four legs, a tail, and some antlers. All I know is that he wasn’t quite a bunny.”
“Sounds like a Blupee,” said Wild.
“A what?”
“A Blupee. I hit one once, and it dropped like a hundred rupees.”
Legend’s face twisted, thinking back to Ravio’s rupee-patterned belt, his slightly overpriced item renting service, and the way he hoarded every single rupee he found even if it was only a single green one. He laughed. “It suits him.”

Written for @druidbottles for the 2025 Legend of Link Fic Fight! Prompt was “While in the Lanayru Desert, an odd encounter with a timeshift stone shows Link his predecessor, Hylia's Chosen Hero”
Characters: Link (Skyward Sword) Words: 500
Summary: Link is lost in the Lanayru Desert when he encounters Hylia’s Chosen Hero through a timeshift stone.
Link stared into the distance and frowned. He had been wandering through the Lanayru Desert for hours. Sand slipped into his boots and scratched his legs and his tunic clung to his back. His last bottle of water was almost empty, he was out of deku seeds, and his wooden shield was badly damaged. The map he held could have been a blank sheet of paper and it wouldn’t have made much of a difference. He sighed. “Fi, any advice?”
“My readings indicate that Zelda has passed through here. As previously stated, this area is highly dangerous. I suggest reuniting with her quickly to determine the motivations behind her actions at Eldin Province.”
“Thanks, but you’ve already told me that,” he muttered, taking another look at the land. He thought he saw a puddle of water, but it was gone after he took another step.
In front of him was a timeshift stone that he was sure he’d hit already. Nothing but a sign that he was going in circles. Link activated it anyway, even if it just meant he could see something other than yellow sand for a moment.
Grass sprouted across the ground in a circle, and Link walked in and sat down. A cool breeze washed over the area. At the very edge of his time-shifted zone, someone stood in front of him.
Just another mirage, Link thought. Don’t get your hopes up.
He blinked, but the figure stayed. He looked similar to Link, although his tunic was a little darker, but most notably he had a long red scarf draped around his neck.
“Hello?” Link called out. “Anyone there?”
The man turned slightly, but not quite enough for Link to see his face, and began to walk away. He disappeared into the desert as he stepped out of the time bubble
“Hey! Don’t go!”
Link got to his feet and began to follow him. They walked through quicksand, jumped across broken bridges, and hopped in minecarts with such confidence that Link didn’t even question what he was doing or why. He just continued to turn on timeshift stones and run along so he could keep up.
By the time the man finally slowed to a stop, Link didn’t know how long it had been. His feet ached and his throat burned, and for a second he regretted his decision. But then he looked up.
Link gasped. A bird statue and a door stood in front of him. Although it was well worn by the elements, the robot design on it was clear. It wasn’t the entrance to the Lanayru Mining Facility, but it was a sign that he was close. Link opened his map again and immediately spotted his location. He’d found his way. He would be able to do the rest on his own.
“Thank you,” Link said, reaching towards the statue to return to the sky and gather more supplies. He stopped. “Wait. Who even are you?”
He turned around. The man was gone.

Link
Written for @ships-lover for the 2025 Legend of Link Fic Fight! Prompt contains TotK spoilers and is below the cut.
Words: 756
Summary: Link's adventure is over, but Zelda still isn't the same. (contains spoilers for Tears of the Kingdom)
Prompt was “Flora keeps aspects of her dragon form after the events of TotK. Wild would look at her as she passes and sadly smile, other times he would go onto her dragon form and sit and talk believing she could hear him.”
Link had a gut feeling about the Light Dragon’s true form long before finding all of her tears. It was obvious that there was only one way to restore the Master Sword, and knowing Zelda’s personality, she would have done anything for the world of Hyrule. Besides, her long pointed ears, iridescent eyes, and fluffy blond hair were unmistakably hers.
For those reasons, it shouldn’t have been a surprise to him when he found the last tear on Rist Peninsula. But when the Light Dragon flew away, leaving behind only a patch of silent princesses, Link’s thoughts began to spiral like the shape of the land he was standing on.
He didn’t dare to step on any of the flowers as he rushed to the nearest Skyview Tower.
Link’s first attempt to pull the Master Sword was a failure. With only a little more stamina than he had started with, Zelda sent him flying, and he was saved only by a pool of water on the surface. He returned a week later, having traded some of his health to the horned statue in Lookout Landing.
Zelda opened her mouth, roared, and slowed to a gentle glide through the air. Link’s hands shook as he placed his hands on the blade’s hilt.
The damage it had sustained beneath Hyrule Castle was fully repaired. It was covered in a coating of golden light, which disintegrated as he held it skyward.
Link closed his eyes. Being the wielder of the legendary blade was supposed to be a triumphant moment, a moment that proved one’s worth as a hero. He was proud to be the chosen one the very first time he pulled the sword from its pedestal, and the feeling returned all the same when he recovered his strength after his slumber in the Shrine of Resurrection a few years ago.
Now it served as a painful reminder that he had lost one of the few people who remembered him from before the Calamity.
Part of him held onto hope that maybe, just maybe Mineru was wrong. That Zelda’s transformation wasn’t permanent, and that there was somehow a way to reverse it. But that thought too was shattered when he looked around, after the sages had awakened and Ganondorf was gone, and saw Zelda still up there roaming the skies.
Link didn’t look up again for a while after that.
—
He started with small steps, first visiting the house he bought in Hateno Village. It now belonged to Zelda. He recalled pictures of his cooking, Magda’s flowers, and her golden horse hanging on the wall.
He didn’t go inside, not this time at least. Instead, he sat by the cooking pot outside of the home, just staring at the building which felt lifeless without her.
After that he began to visit more often. On some days, he would trim the grass and bottle any fairies he found to place near her bed. On others he brought a broom and swept the floors.
One evening, as he was tying up a bundle of silent princesses to place outside her door, he felt an updraft of air.
He looked up. High above, the Light Dragon’s body shimmered, its blue spikes glowing in the moonlight. Link watched her pass and gave a small wave.
The next day, he exchanged his paraglider fabric for a design used by the Hyrulean royal family. He made fruitcake -- her favorite food -- and packed it safely in his pouch. When he was finally ready, he launched himself into the sky from the Lookout Landing tower.
The updrafts began again as Link drew closer to Zelda. She flew slowly, as if she already knew he was coming. When he landed on her back between two spikes, she didn’t flinch.
“Hi, Zelda,” Link said, his voice barely audible in the wind. He set the fruitcake beside him. “I don’t know if you can hear me, but I brought this for you. Your favorite.”
No response. He continued anyway, hoping she could hear him.
“You’ve been watching over the world, haven’t you? I went to the Spring of Wisdom a few weeks ago. It’s still in good shape. Impa talks about you, too. She’s the one who helped me find you here. We all miss you.”
He closed his eyes again, then stood up and leapt off. He didn’t expect a goodbye, but as he glided, he thought Zelda’s updraft was a little stronger than usual.
Link couldn’t help but smile just a little. “I’ll be back tomorrow. Same time.”

I imagine that Time in this fic would have to deal with being underestimated in a similar way to how Wind usually has this problem. you did a great job showing that here! also, very interesting concept in the way that Time is different from young Link post-MM. young link isn't that much older than he looks (just more experienced), but here Time is still his adult self.
Older than I look
For: @ok-pop-1 Characters featured: Twilight and Time CW: None Summary: Twilight and Time meet at very different stages in their lives, in different bodies.
“Now I’m not usually one to question fate and the goddess,” Twilight drawls, eyes narrowed. “But ain’t you a lil young to go adventuring?”
Time looks up at the broad hero, the crows feet around his eyes, the laugh lines around his mouth, the steady way he handles his horse. “I’m older than I look.” He mutters. Shenanigans with time always trip him up. It’s odd to be back in his tiny child’s body, stubby bare legs, no muscle tone, barely enough strength to lift the master sword, never mind wield it.
Twilight considers him for a long moment. Time watches him back. “I reckon you’re right there.” He allows, nodding. “Something round the eyes. You’re an old soul.”
Time chuckles wryly. It sounds wispy and soft in his child’s voice. “Kid, you don’t know the half of it.”

Written for @druidbottles for the 2025 Legend of Link Fic Fight! Prompt was “The colours collaborate with Wild to pull a prank on the rest of the chain”
Characters: Wild, Four (and his colors) Words: 651
Summary: Four leaned on the table. “I have an idea,” he said, a smile spreading across his face. “What if we made some oatmeal raisin cookies too, but said they were chocolate chip?” -- The colors collaborate with Wild to pull a prank on the rest of the chain, but it doesn’t go exactly as planned.
It was getting late, and Wild was preparing dinner as usual. The others were outside foraging for tomorrow’s meals. Wind rummaged through mushroom patches (and was careful to look out for any Minish homes, as Four had told him), Time picked apples from the trees, Hyrule carefully removed a slice of honeycomb from a beehive, and Twilight used his superior wolf senses to find hearty truffles. Those were quite the delicacy, according to Wild. So much that Twilight had to resist the urge to take a bite of one.
Back at camp, the warm smell of pumpkin and meat filled the air. Four walked into the kitchen holding some green beans. “Need help?”
“Dinner’s done,” Wild said, holding up a meat-stuffed pumpkin. “Now I’m making dessert.”
“Chocolate chip?” said Four, peering over Wild’s shoulder.
“Of course.”
Four leaned on the table. “I have an idea,” he said, a smile spreading across his face. “What if we made some oatmeal raisin cookies too, but said they were chocolate chip?”
“Lie about my cooking?” Wild blinked, and for a moment Four was about to take back his idea until the champion said, “That’s a great idea. I don’t know if I can finish all the oatmeal ones when we’re done, though.”
“That’s okay! I’ll take them!” the Red part of him said. “If nobody else wants them, I’ll eat them all!”
That’s too many sweets for one person, Red, Vio thought. Not one person! Wild will have some too, we all know that Hyrule eats anything.
Two people, three people, whatever. Still too much. Although I do agree with the plan.
“There’s no time to make two batches either,” Wild continued.
Four reached his hand towards his sword. “I’ll split up. We’ll each take one half of the kitchen, and you can help us all.”
--
Red and Vio got stuck with the “fake” cookies, as Blue called them. He and Green mixed chocolate chips into the batter. Wild ran around, measuring Tabantha wheat flour and goat butter, stopping Blue from sneaking chocolate into his mouth, and teaching the colors how cookie-making actually worked.
“Aren’t you supposed to use an oven?” Green asked when Wild told him to throw the dough into the cooking pot. “I don’t think this will work.”
“An…oven?” said Wild.
“You know,” Blue replied. “The thing you bake stuff in so it doesn’t get all soggy in cooking pot water.”
“Never heard of it.”
Vio rolled his eyes but tossed in his batter anyway, hoping for the best.
--
The cookies looked and tasted amazing, much to Four’s surprise. They were soft, golden, and chewy, almost exactly like the ones he ate in Hyrule Town. Wild put the chocolate chip ones in his pouch and left the others near the pot.
--
By the time the chain had finished dinner, Wild was finally ready to present his masterpiece. “I made dessert!” he said, holding out the plate. “Chocolate chip cookies.”
Twilight squinted. “You mean oatmeal raisin?”
Wild and Four froze. “Huh?”
“Those aren’t any chocolate chip cookies,” the rancher said with a laugh. “I could smell them all the way from the forest.”
“Ooh, you made oatmeal raisin cookies?” Legend said, reaching across the table. “I’ll take one!”
“Same,” said Warriors. “They’re underrated.”
Well, that didn’t go as planned, Red thought.
Green shook his head. Not at all.
Wild smiled. “Okay, okay, here’s what we actually made.” He reached into his pouch and pulled out the chocolate chip ones.
Wind’s eyes lit up. “Wow! You made both?! This is great!”
“I had help,” Wild said, elbowing Four. “Two batches. Surpriiiise ruined,” he laughed.
Soon, all nine heroes were crowding around the fire, passing both trays around. Wild leaned back with his arms behind his head, watching as Warriors and Legend argued over who should get the last one until Sky chopped it in half.
They’d try again tomorrow, Four and Wild agreed.

Written for @amayis-bigtower for the 2025 Legend of Link Fic Fight! Prompt was “It's okay, you're not alone anymore" Characters: Wild and Hyrule Words: 443
Summary: Hyrule struggles with loneliness from his past. Wild comforts him.
The camp was quiet except for the crackling fire, rustling leaves, and Hyrule and Wild’s footsteps. Hyrule had found a spot against a tree, leaning back slightly and staring into the distance. A fairy danced around him.
Wild spotted him while stuffing a bundle of wood into his pouch. He wiped his hands on his trousers and settled next to Hyrule. Wild shifted. “Do you always stay up this late?”
Hyrule flinched, glancing up to see Wild’s blue tunic and then looking away just as quickly. He shrugged. “I’m used to it.”
“I see. I just wanted to ask if you’re alright. I know it hasn’t been that long, but you haven’t been talking much lately.”
Hyrule’s breathing sped up. He blinked, surprised by the concern in Wild’s voice. “I- I’ve never had to.”
“I get it. It took me a while to find my place too, when I first woke up. But you eventually get used to it.”
Hyrule clenched his jaw. “Don’t say it like that.”
“Like what?”
“Like you actually understand.”
Wild’s shoulders dropped. “I know we’re not the same. I just thought I could relate.”
“Well, you can’t.” He raised his voice. “You had people! I’ve heard the way you talk about them.”
Hyrule slammed his fist on a nearby rock. The sound cut through the night like a sword. His voice cracked. “They were waiting for you to finish what you started. The Champions, their successors, an old woman — Impa — who helped you piece together your past, even Princess Zelda herself! You know what I would have done just to have a stable where I could sleep without keeping one eye open?!”
He took a sharp breath in.
“My first time, they gave me a sword. Warned me about the dangers of going alone, but left me alone anyway. I had to learn everything myself. And then I did it again, with stronger monsters but still no help. And now I’m supposed to sit here, with people I barely know, and pretend to be normal?”
They sat in silence again for a while. Even the sounds of the forest seemed to stop.
Wild’s voice lowered. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it like that. You’re right. No one should expect that from you.”
Hyrule’s gaze drifted back towards the campfire.
“But the Shadow,” Wild continued. “From what we know so far, none of us can handle it by ourselves.”
Hyrule’s nod was almost imperceptible.
Wild just gave a small smile, the same kind of smile he gave after cooking a hearty meal or passing someone a potion they needed but didn't ask for. “It’s okay. You’re not alone anymore.”
