I feel like I have to announce this at some point so here goes for anybody still invested

But basically for folks still reading Fire in his Eyes, the next 2 chapters shall be the final chapters until further notice.

Sorry...

...so what happened?

Couple of things,

1.) Lesser interest on DSMP lore makes it hard for me to motivate myself into actually finishing it., which is understandable.

2.) Me being burned by the fanbase itself too much to the point where it makes me uncomfortable being around the community much now.

3.) General busyness cause college.

And 4.) With my pace and my motivation, I just don't see it feasibly finishing in the near future

So what's the plan?

I will be finishing "he was lost; he was Taken" but I shall be extending the final chapter to be a sorta epilogue, as a little farewell for now for the series.

For now being the key phrase here.

See, I plan on leaving it in a pretty definitive cliffhanger which may leave me open to at least being able to get back to it when I get my writing, time, and motivation all sorted back. Because I really have a ton of ideas I wish to be able to share at one point, but I am hesitant for it to be completely cancelled so...

Think of it as a good place to end but a good place to come back to at some point.

So yeah.

I am not gonna cancel this, ever probably, and maybe one day I'll be able to fully share my entire ideas, but until then...

Fire in His Eyes shall lay dormant.

Hey, sorry for just disappearing for a while.

Long story short, been taking a break on DSMP and MCYT for a while due to personal reasons, mostly me feeling like I don't fit in with the fanbase anymore.

So what of my fic? Well, it's safe to say it is put on Hiatus for a bit. I plan on moving it closer to the ending I have in mind while at it so while the fic stays sorta in limbo for a bit, I am at least planning its near conclusion.

Honestly, I just don't wish to leave people hanging.

So until I finally feel motivated and when I feel comfortable around his this community enough again, I'll be chilling. I'm finishing my Arc 2 fic and then running the final arcs into a blender that is the final act.

How to Write Dialogue for (most) Dream SMP Characters

A few months ago, I remembered seeing a lot of posts giving advice on how to write dialogue for DSMP Characters. And while those posts contained numerous helpful pointers, overall, they fall just short of capturing what it means to write in a character’s Voice.

Unique character Voices, while tricky to get right, are usually achieved by giving each character a distinct set of words to say, in a manner that distinguishes them from the rest of the cast. 

With this in mind, I’ve spent the past few days combing through almost Thirty Hours of VOD footage to collect nearly all of the unique words, phrases, and speaking habits of every major and minor character on the Dream SMP (involved in 2+ story arcs.)

Before Reading:

Sentence-Starters are single words or phrases which begin a sentence. (ie. “Y’know, maybe you should try something different.”) 

Sentence Paddings are reoccurring words added to the middle of sentences. (ie. “It’s like he just can’t cry.”) 

Sentence Endings are single words or phrases which end a sentence. (ie. “There’s no need to fight, I hope.”)

All three of these types can be combined with one another to create more natural-sounding sentences. For instance, if a character has the two Sentence-Starters “Okay” and “So,” they can be used like this; “Okay, so, I’m a bit worried.”

(Note: When certain traits or phrases aren’t obvious with how they should be applied to dialogue, an (ie.) will be added below to illustrate them.)

General Traits:

Repeats himself for emphasis. Sometimes these repetitions will add additional information. More often, this repetition is focused around a specific word with the circumstance of the sentence being changed each time.

ie. “I’m living in an eternal limbo again. I’ve been through limbo, I’m out of limbo, and socially, I’m still in this limbo.”

Highly eloquent in language, bordering on poetic.

Highly introspective; significantly less so after Eret’s betrayal and onward.

Occasionally makes literary analogies and references, sometimes breaking the Fourth Wall to do so.

Curses semi-frequently. Wilbur is the only known character to use the word “cunt,” although rare.

Common Go-To Swears - Fuck, Shit, Prick, Bastard, Hell, Ass (Including all variations and combinations.)

Tends to hum when he thinks to himself.

Stutters most often when offended, shocked, or surprised.

Generally addresses characters semi-formally, often by title or role.

Often slips into long-form monologues when self-reflecting.

Usually defaults to being the head of a conversation; introducing, managing, and elaborating on topics throughout, especially when speaking to three or more people.

Circumstantial Phrases:

You and I, we’re ━ (To connect positively with someone.)

ie. “You and I, we’re used to seeing the good in people.”

I wanna pick your brain / Can I pick your brain? (To ask about someone else.)

Don’t say that, I’ll cry (Affectionate banter, only to Tommy.)

I’m afraid ━ (When hopeless or delivering bad news.)

ie. “I’m afraid there’s no getting out of this now.”

There’s no reason to ━ / There’s no reason for ━ / There’s no need for ━  (When being threatened or breaking up a fight.)

ie. “There’s no need for violence, gentlemen.”

Fic Update again

I'm still alive, I swear. Chapter 1 of the first Arc 2 fic is coming hopefully this month. Finals are still going so I'm gonna take a while. For now, have a preview:

It was a peaceful day. The bees are buzzing, Edward is vibrating, the turtles are turtling, and he just finished dealing with his moaning zombified villagers he keeps in his basement, not something coming off creepy at all, nope. 

The day was going great! Albeit, he did find it hard to wake up this morning for some reason. Was it because of the incessant chattering of the rather unsettled voices today? What even is bothering them? Grunting and barely able to focus enough to understand the variety of things the voices had been yelling these past few hours, he ignored them, glancing down from the villagers to his communicator. 

Dream whispered to you: you may wanna be ready

He corks a brow. That's definitely not coming off ominously, not from Dream, Mr I-must-stick-to-the-shadows kinda guy. His mind wanders off, back to their last encounter on that mountain, a woodland map they both can barely read given to him. Definitely not ominous indeed. 

But before he can reply-

Dream whispers to you: your old friend is in bad shape

"Heh?!" He heard himself yell.

I've been having burnout of MCYT's community and content in general so for the sake of my health I'm putting it on a short hold. I'll probably be working on chapters on the background but for now, I wish to take a break.
