Random Fic Idea

Superhero fic. The hero IRL is married to a loving wife, marriage is healthy, and has been for years now. They find out before their anniversary that the villain they've been fighting for so long is their wife.

Yeah, vanilla idea, but I'm not done. Shortly before then to celebrate their anniversary, they decided they were ready to have a kid, but the wife was infertile, so they decided to adopt a teen from the foster system (totally not because the hero is still in that "saviour" mindset lol).

The teen has been through some shit because of their time in the foster system and bouncing around homes, so one night they somehow get in with the wrong group, and end up doign part time night shifts for the villain as a minion around their "secret base" which is just a building by the harbour.

How awkward...

Pandemonium is Starving.

People usually view Pandemonium as some "rahhH!!!! play my minigames!!!!! i love hunting expendables!!! door 30!!!!" for so long, you genuinely forget there is likely an explanation for why he is so different to other anglers.

Pandemonium is perpetually rotting flesh holding itself together through the consumption of living flesh, which is unlike the Anglers which literally eat your brain neurons and leave your corpse behind. Pandemonium works different to anglers, opting to literally HUNT players as soon as they enter it's line of sight. Now this can be chalked up to it's normal hunting style, you'd want to stay on your target when you hunt them, however no other angler variant does that. Even if you get in the locker at the last moment, Anglers don't follow you in. This is where the theory comes in: Pandemonium is starving in the campaign. They are desperate, they are on the brink of death,, and their next chance at a meal just entered it's line of sight. It bangs on the locker, not because it's a cruel monster toying with you, but because it genuinely needs to kill you. If it fails, it could mean an indeterminate amount of time before the next meal, if it can even find one in time.

Ofc this could all be wrong, but it's nice to think that, even down in the depths of this facility, the monsters are trying to survive as much as you are.

I've still got a lot of re-working and moving to do. The plan is to move my workshops to the right side of the map, as they become bigger when they evolve and would save space. (for those out of the loop, i cant just expand whenever. I need to earn expansions.)

The goals for the next chapter are to move all workshops to the right side to leave room for upgraded manufactories and culture/event buildings. Im also prioritising which paths to keep and remove based on how paved they are lol.

Alright, so hear me out

So in Rainworld, Scavengers are neutral towards slugcats most of the time, right? In the real world, Humans are the scavenger equivalent, except our view towards cats are different. We literally love the fluffy bastards, we pet them, scratch them, love them, even if said cats are bigger than us and growl. Humans. Fucking. LOVE. Cats.

Now what if that was applied to Scavengers too? Imagine a scavenger seeing a slugpup and just going "OHHH GOOGY GOOGY GOO, WOOK AT YOU! SO CUTE AND FWUFFY YES OHOHOHOH", or even at a scav toll. Imagine being a slugcat trying to pass by, and half the toll is just patting you on the head. Hell imagine being a scav, and you come across stray slugcats. Literal. Heaven.

Now i hear you, 'What about Artificer??', and all i have to remind you all is that people irl fawn over Bundy, Dahmer, Harris and Klebold, etc. Not hard to think some scavs like Arti the same way.

The Planets - so far

Here are all the drawings of the redone planets i have. below is a comprehensive description of each of them in order shown

Erdundu - Shattered Planet Once a propserous world, now a desolate husk when it's four moons were shattered, forming a ring around the dark moon and scouring it's surface of all life. Most surface water bodies are mixed with guts and gore, making it partially blood.

Keyterra (Formerly Kytra, Ky'tra and Kytrah) - Rocky Plateaus A world covered in water, this blue marble's only land is jagged cliffs. tall plateaus and deep-cut chasms. This place isn't the most inviting, but the summers are warm.

Korama (formerly Yuull) & Lahaduna (Formerly Cathra) - Brothers in Arms Korama is a planet completely subjugated by it's harsh snowstorms and frozen prairies. It had massive ice oceans several kilometers deep, and is contrasted by it's blazing hot moon, Lahaduna (from the Arabic: 'la 'ahad huna' translating to 'Nobody is here'). Lahaduna is almost entirely coated by sandy dunes, with only a few mountain ranges breaking through this eternally arid blanket.

Kortressi (formerly Mortymer, Scimitarnyss)- Where People Go To Disappear A Gas Minor within the same system as Wunderland, Kortressi features a planetary ring that almost wraps around it's equator. However, it is incomplete and under construction. It's sheer size means it is the perfect pirate/smuggler hub. Where people go to disappear. Yes it looks like Jool, shut up.

Nolanmar - Warm and... Crusty. A peaceful world encompassing mostly plains, savannas, and vast sandy deserts that keep the planet warm all year long. A few encounters with... unpleasant groups... have shattered the moon, and left a giant crater on the planet's surface that cracked it's crust. Hopefully that wasn't too damaging...

Nur Hugl (formerly Xyantooine) - Peaceful Prairies A planet covered mostly in grasslands inspired by the fields of Dantooine, hence it's old name. It's actually pretty decent to vacation or retire to. It's massive oceans though? Eugh... no. Stalleturme (formerly Aufenstahl) - IN THE CITEEEYYYYYY A world with most of it's land covered in vast metropoli and buildings. The natural lands that still remain fight for their greenery, fight for the farms, they will die to protect their land. Basically half Coruscant.
