i think something so lovely about love/beauty deities is that they don’t actually force you to change into anything specific. they always encourage you in ways to accentuate you as you are.
like working with freyja, i didnt get a nose job. she just made me love my nose and how it has a bump in it just like my mama does.
freyja didn’t make me start frying my hair to make it appear a certain way. she nudged me to buy products to accentuate their natural texture.
freyja didn’t make me start wearing more makeup. i just started liking what i looked like in the mirror—acne, dark circles and all.
and if i did wear makeup, she was right there making sure it came out perfect for my face, not for anyone else’s.
freyja didn’t “magic” away my current body shape. she made me not worry if im bloated some days or about the light marks on my hips.
there was nothing “imperfect” in her eyes. she wanted me to see that.
beauty and love deities have been misrepresented as deities of conventional beauty when in reality, they are mirrors to show how beautiful you’ve been all along.

Friendly reminder that you can do things for your gods ✨ just because ✨
For example, today I made up my altar for Freyja because I missed her and wanted to feel closer to her. No rituals, no prayers, no intentions, ✨ just because ✨

Not to sound like a fuckin hippie but please for the love of god start noticing and appreciating the natural world around you. You don’t have to go hike the entire Appalachian trail or anything and I get that not everyone has access to the outdoors for various reasons, but just fucking … look around you when you’re outside. Notice the sky and the sun and the birds and creatures. Start caring about them. I’m begging you.

I've been taking the past few months to dig into reading as I prepare to write my own norse-based fantasy novel. I have so many exciting concepts that I just have to figure out how to wrap into a coherent story. I'm hoping that as I get further into the process I can start sharing the progress with you all 💕

Today is about changes, about deep breaths and allowing yourself to see the dark unknown that we keep hidden within ourselves. It's about exploring the things we so rarely bring to light but that still are a part of us. These things are not bad, they are not evil. They are misunderstood, ugly , raw, emotional, human. It's time to explore why you hide these thoughts and emotions.
Today where I live we get to experience a total solar eclipse and a new moon. I've been feeling the build up of this energy for a while. It's been ugly and raw. I've been depressed, moody, and not fully present for almost a month. It has sucked. But I keep reminding myself that these feelings are valid, and they are being purged. That by trying to push them down, I am only lengthening the problem instead of working on a solution. So I have taken this time to reflect, to work on things that bring me joy, to allow myself to feel what I feel and not put pressure on myself to be someone I am currently not.
And on this fateful eclipse day, I feel lighter and ready to move forward into this new era.

worship evolves with time. yes, the people who worshipped the gods back in the day had specific offerings to be given. but what is stopping you from giving modern offerings? things around your house? offerings shouldn't have to cost you a fortune. your deities aren't holding you at gunpoint to only receive what you can't easily get. they are a means of showing your love in your day-to-day. so yes!! give your deities candy bars! show them a silly little doodle of them in the corner of your notebook!! make a spotify playlist and play it for them!! dedicate a journal to them!! make a pinterest board and fill it with pins that remind you of them!! the important aspect of these offerings is that you are thinking about your deities. thinking about them and feeling love and devotion to them is a means of offering! you are devoting your energy in these acts!!

To those of you who worship obscure divinities: there are no rule that bind you except your own. Go worship that obscure deity. Go invent that festival from scratch. Go make that offering even if it’s unusual. Go write that prayer even if you’re the only one who gets it. Go play around with your freedom as a practitioner and explore! Even in a spiritual context, creativity is a gift.

I started painting again for the first time in 5 years since highschool and college gave me major traditional art anxiety and I'm really sad that I went so long being so scared. Like I'm not great by any means, but I'm not nearly as bad as I thought either and it feels really good to be able to hold a finished product and be able to say "I did that"
