Me, finished sketching a pose: :)
Me, realizing it looks way too similar to my last pose I sketched: :(
Me, remembering that it’s okay because I’m learning how to build and choose poses and that practice is how I’ll get good: :)

Finished a painting today! It took three days to make and I’d say im pretty proud of the results. It’s supposed to be a picture of a mountain range at sunset with a reflection in water that’s like a portal to another world but I guess it just turned into a night and day situation. Personally the β€œnight” side is my favorite but making everything look somewhat symmetrical was hard :/

I know I already posted this but today I experimented with the glass showing from the windows and took this photo✨
Tumblr media
I had to photoshop it cuz the light wouldn’t fit in the jar but I love how it looks! I have to find some super small lights so I can keep them lit for real. I also might be able to do this on Mason Jar 2.0 if I actually make the windows see-through!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I made another one! Though I’m not as pleased with the result of it, I still like it. I finally got some mason jars and I’m gonna try to make a giant one, though the lid piece won’t be 100% polymer clay like the mini ones. Maybe an aluminum core or paper mache?

Day 5 of creating a giant mushroom house out of a mason jar!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today I painted the base a couple times and fully baked everything to begin assembly. The stairs were glued on and I dry brushed green paint to give it an old look (also I was too lazy to add 3D but that’s not the point shhh). I also dry brushed some dark grey over the stones on the chimney and doorway for more depth and I DID add actual moss to the chimney as well to hide some of the wires that were poking out. Maybe I’ll find another way to make and attach chimneys to the β€œroofs” of my future creations cuz it’s really hard to do that.
.
.
.
I’ll post some professional photos tomorrow but for now heres the final product!! Im so proud of this and I have another jar I could do the same way with some more experimenting

Day 4 of creating a giant mushroom house out of a mason jar!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today I added moss to the bottom piece and baked it for the third and final time. I also crafted the stairs and baked them too. I marked the spots on the bottom where i would place them but later Im gonna paint over the piece with a couple coats of paint. I also added two windows to the mushroom head and started placing dots all over. It was scary placing them on the windows since they were hollow. By tomorrow I should finish the entire thing and I’ll take some fancy photos~

Day 3 of creating a giant mushroom house out of a mason jar!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today I finished smoothing out the mushroom head and make it more triangular after deciding I didn’t like the sloped head oops. I think I’m going to attach some windows on the head later on but for now I put two windows and a door on the bottom piece. I forgot to put mΓΆss on before baking it so I’ll do that and bake it for a third time. I think I’ll start working on the stairs for the house tomorrow

Day 2 of creating a giant mushroom house out of a mason jar!!!
Hand reveal just for y’all ;)(actually I was taking it out of the oven and couldn’t wait to take a photo on my desk oopsie πŸ₯΄)
Anyways, as you can see the base is much wider than the top and I had to used a bunch of different colored clay (I’ll be painting over it later) and I made some grooves in it for some texture using clay tools. This is right after the oven so I sanded it once I got back to my desk. Helpful tip for anyone who sculpts (if anyone actually reads these): use an old (unused, preferably) toothbrush to brush out any left over dust from crevices in your piece so it’s much cleaner. After I finished mixing all my orange and red clay into a giant lump, I began sculpting the lid/mushroom cap. Very wrinkly and mishap here but I’ll fix it tomorrow
Tumblr media
(Dumb sandpaper rant)I never realized how important sanding can be to a piece until this project, because without sanding it, some of the lines has excess clay along the grooves and it felt pretty sharp and uncomfortable to hold but sanding it down really softens the price and gets rid of that extra clay so you have a refined looking piece. the scratches were very visible on mine (not sure how to fix that I may look it up later) but it doesn’t matter since it’ll get a couple coats of paint later.

Day 1 of creating a giant mushroom house out of a mason jar!!!
I made the executive decision to continue making the shroom houses but on a larger scale. I quickly and messily drew up some ideas and things have been going pretty well. I’ll update later tomorrow but basically I’m hoping to make 99% of this with polymer clay and other durable materials because I Lowkey want to be able to put this in my front yard surrounded by flowers.
Tumblr media
I started out first by covering the entire glass jar with one layer of clay. I realized this wasn’t going to be enough, so I put on about 2 more layers on the bottom for a wider base and more mushroom-y silhouette. I’ll update later tomorrow but this is it for now!!!

Not a drawing but I made this mushroom home out of a tiny glass jar today and it is functional, the windows are see through and it’s pretty light weight. For next time I think I’ll make the base of the stem a bit wider and work on painting the spots more cleanly. Im really proud of how it turned out and maybe I’ll post others once I sculpt again. I included photos of the jar, the β€œbefore and after”, and the jar with the lid off. Do me a solid and do not claim this piece as your own, however if you want to make something like this yourself, you are 100% allowed to; its not my original idea and the original creator said was okay <3 I do hope to post more sculptures because I like doing more than just 2D art.

I did a slightly quick sketch of another character I’m gonna draw for one week and then forget about featuring the e girl from a while ago with no accurate anatomy:) I mean none of it’s accurate but they look nice so Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―
I also included solo shots of the two main sketches I wasn’t too worried about having a close up of the faces it’s just reference for me ツ
