No.

You can’t run your fingers through my hair…

But you can grab it and grip it.

You can’t easily damage,

tear it,

or rip it.

It’s warm and it’s thick—

(soft enough to lay in).

It’s mesmerizing

and tantalizing

tempting you to play in.

It’s better when it’s clean—

with no smell or sweat.

It’s easier to work in

when it’s slippery and wet.

I keep it covered sometimes.

sometimes I let it breathe.

I cut it low sometimes;

sometimes I let it be.

My hair…

I like to braid it.

Finger it and penetrate it.

Look at it in the mirror daily

Whip it back and forth and shake it.

Black hair.

My hair.

My crown and my glory.

A preeminent part

of my personal story.

It’s a personal gift;

from the Most High above.

And the Most High

gave the most supply

to the most adored

and most loved.
