Fuck me running, percy just completely disassociating after cassandra's betrayal was a fucking great moment.

The man fucking breaks down

The whole point he was doing this was for revenge for his family. They were the ones Orthax used to motivate Percy forward. Twisting his grief and anguish over what happened into fuel.

But then he found out he had a sister. He has someone to fight for, someone to protect. He has a reason to hope for a better future, to come out the other-side whole and himself. Before he was doing this for the memory of his family, to avenge those he lost, but now? He's doing it for Cassandra. So, of course he drops it all the moment she calls him.

Several times, she is able to get through the him, convince him to stop in his rampages. He, until Anders briefly takes her out of the picture, is willing to negotiate with him for to keep her safe, with one his List - a man he was very ready to kill not two minutes before.

He's entirely willing to turn around and drop his gun for her.

And then she betrays him.

His newfound reason to fight and check names off the list is now one of the very same list.

But Percy isn't angry. He's upset and fucking heartbroken by this. He shuts the fuck down and just:

Kneels there, unresponsive.

And Orthax tries to motivate him. He tries to slip back in there as he usually does. In the shot when Scanlan is calling them all onto the hand, Percy's glasses are tinted. Orthax is there.

But Percy doesn't budge. Before when Orthax had shown up, Percy had been fucking pissed. He'd been upset and angry, so Orthax had been able to use that, to push him past the state of fear and horror that had overcome him before.

It's worth noting that the last time Percy had reacted like this was to Archie's death:

However in that moment it had been Percy calling on Orthax, who simply wasn't interested as Armon or whatever the fuck he was called wasn't the list.

And this time is very much the same, one side of the bargin is trying to use the other to act. However, instead of it being Orthax who is refusing to provide the push, it's Percy giving no fuel.

He's not angry with Cass. He's fucking devastated. Orthax can't wield that like he can use his rage. Percy's anger is a weapon, he can use it, but his fear and devastation? It's something Percy has to push past. He needs Orthax to help him over come it, using the fire of his wrath to do so.

So what happens when his grief and fear his more overpowering than his anger? When the fuel has turned to dust and smoke?

He gives up. He's done.

And later in the Zigeraut, Orthax needs to take even further control to get Percy to do what he wants, as shown in how the smoke now almost completely encapsulates his face - forcing the mask on where Percy had previously put it on himself:

Throughout the fight, Percy tries to fight Orthax. He tries to reign him in, to wait or not fight. So Orthax is forced to take more control. Where before the possession was simply either the glasses or the eyes, or Percy voluntarily putting on the mask, now Orthax is forming the mask on his face. He's forcing Percy to do this, forming the mask around his face.

And later, he reaches the point where has to use Percy's family against him. Manipulating him, having him fight his friends by making him think he's fighting those on his List. Gone are the days of Percy wielding Orthax to do his bidding, now it's Orthax using Percy.

TLDR: Throughout most of the arc, Percy and Orthax work in tandem. They work together to push forward, the fuel and the force. But the moment one of them isn't there? The other needs to pick up the slack. At Archie's death, Percy tried to use Orthax - who wasn't budging - but wasn't strong enough to force him to help. But at Cass' betray, Percy is the one unresponsive. And Orthax is able to force him to continue, able to push him forward, even without Percy's consent, creating the fuel himself when the man refuses to give k willingly

Also, something something Perc'ahlia, something something, Vex being the one to snap Percy out of his state and continuing to try and break through the smoke

TLOVM Headcanon

Percy de Rolo is totally a mama’s boy and you can’t tell me otherwise.

I never fully noticed it until now but have you ever noticed how in the third movie Tad and Sara are always physically touching each when they are together?

My theory;

The second movie they do physically touch each other

For Sara she missed Tad.

For Tad when Sara was kidnapper he was worried and when he got her back he has more physically contact with her.

And then the the moment when Sara turned to gold devastated him. And when He broke the spell he was overjoyed.

So after the events of the second movie it must have triggered some kind of PTSD from both Tad and Sara and ever since that event they always end up physically touching each other either by face or by the arm as a means of coping or reflex.

I’m still thinking about this

This has been bugging me from the first time.

From what I understand anything that comes into physicals contact with the person who’s wearing that King Midas collar will automatically turn them into gold like what happened to Midas daughter.

Even when Rackham is still holding his cane that he turned into gold and used it the hit Sara and she starts turning into gold but it takes a while for the transformation to happen since he was using an object to turn her.

And yet here Tad is physically coming in contact with Rackham he doesn’t turn to gold right then and their like everything els we see touch Rackham or when he shoots the magic at something.

In an scrapped animatic the roles were reversed where Sara saved Tad from getting turned into gold and when Sara came into contact with Tiffany who’s wearing the collar you can see that the magic affected her. 

So how did it not affect Tad here unless they change the rules on how this works.

Tad did succeed in knocking the collar off the fist time but it’s a short lived victory.

Maybe when Rackham put on that collar back on the power hasn’t fully charged so there’s a small window to when Tad can grab him before the magic fully activates that could explained why Tad didn’t get affected.

Sorry I can’t help but think about this, it a real head scratcher.

Kipo is mixed!!!!! She’s half Korea and half black! And you know part mega mute but still! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a mixed main character ever! As someone who’s a hapa this honestly means a lot to me!
