Tentative, cautious, curious, alive.. these are the things that come to mind as I draw small birds. I love their obvious vulnerability; as I believe it’s something us humans try to hide and doesn’t serve us well to do so. The ability to fly, to escape, to use their wings for freedom and necessity is also something I admire about birds. It is who they are, it’s their natural ability to fly. It is a perfect companion to their vulnerability. This makes me wonder; as a human, how am I vulnerable? How am I free? I just sold this precious beauty. It’s name is ‘Rest’. I love this picture. It is a reminder for me to ‘rest’. In our business of going from one thing to another, this concept of pausing and taking a moment to recalibrate is often overlooked. #Halloween has become a #family #celebration that I love and look forward to every year. In the past I had been fearful of participating but when my children were so keen to get involved, I got right into looking at its origins, it’s meaning and different ways people all over the world celebrate similar things. So, I decided to embrace it, making it my own. This is a day (a season actually) that I take, to reflect on death, fear, life, and the afterlife.. Halloween opens up a gateway to asking questions, thinking deeply, making light of, and sharing joy and fun in community with others. I hope you enjoy the pics.
