I chose this week to remove my PlayStation from the TV and use an old PC monitor instead, this creating a little gaming corner just for me, and freeing up the TV for every one else. However my PlayStation 4 has very loud fans, so maybe it's time to have a dusting, inside and out. I've not given her a clean for years so it was pretty nasty inside. So now I'm all set up and happy. Next is finding a gaming chair!

Elite Dangerous on PS4
At. Bloody. Last.
Years after its Kickstarter campaign and PC release, Elite Dangerous is finally headed to PS4 and PS4 Pro in 2017. I’m officially excited and, I admit, slightly moist at the thought.
Penciled in for a Q2 2017 release (April - June) and to include all current DLC to date, this will be both a pretty complete package, and a rather daunting prospect at the same time. It’s quite possible its sheer size, scale and complexity could put players off.
No matter, more trade runs, and less pirate attacks for me then.
Elite’s upcoming release is amazing news for console (PS4) players since that other space sim ‘No Mans Sky’ (or NMS) was such a let down. Elite was the original open universe sandbox game, and is already everything the ‘tech demo’ that is NMS wasnt. You need only to boot up the PC version to experience the incredible things you can do in Elite. It’s sheer diversity alone helps Elite Dangerous maintain its crown as the greatest ever(!) Space Game.
Featuring a true to scale Galaxy full of  stars, planets and space stations, and allowing the player to earn a living by mining, trading and combat, Elite truly allows the player to make his or her own adventure.
Elite also has a dynamic system for government allowing players to influence the balance of power in the universe (think Russia and hacking) as well as having various factions to align yourself with, providing you a cause to fight for.
And it doesn’t stop there.  Elite Dangerous is being expanded upon all the time. In fact, just this month the developers (Frontier ) reintroduced an old alien threat in the form of the Thargoids. An Alien species that hasn’t been seen since the 8-bit era. This made the mainstream news, even on the BBC, and it’s not many games can say that.
Elite Dangerous is, to me at least, the very best example of a game you could lose yourself in.  I’m a sucker for a good MMO and have lost many years of my life playing games such as World of Warcraft, Star Wars Galaxies and Jumpgate. If PSVR support ever gets added to this Playstation 4 version I’m afraid I might actually lose more many more.
Ready for launch Commander.

#Sunburn FTW. Sometimes I forget I have to be sensible with hot weather. Other times I just think 'Sod it I'm on holiday'. Yesterday was one of those days.

Popping over to Mexico for a week. Thanks to the power of the Internet and social media you'll never know I'm gone.

On the train, listening to people around me talking utter bollocks about things they obviously know nothing about. And that's just the staff!
