Absolutely hilarious that Xiran Jay Zhou had to put a disclaimer at the start of her book to emphasise that these are characters, this is fiction, sure it might be drawing from history and historical figures but that doesn't make it historical fiction, these are ideas the characters are expressing and that doesn't mean that the author is advocating for those ideas.
