I'm a girl who was lucky enough to find a girlfriend who loves me. My friends call me lesbian. You can call me Dorothy. Currently struggling with an eating disorder, but that's okay. I try and stay positive. I love to talk to people, so if you happen to want to message me....

…I almost killed myself
I put on my sunglasses, to hide my swollen eyes, over my tears. I cried all my makeup off. Went inside to have a milkshake. I don’t know why. I wanted something to drink as I figured out what I would do. I got a soda and a milkshake. Medium. The cashier looked at me and with a line around the corner of the counter he rushed away from the counter “Hold on “ he yelled to a coworker.
I filled my soda and went back and saw him looking all over. I go up and he gets close and says “I made it a large”.
That was seriously enough for me not to do it. His kindness. Someone went out of their way and as I went back in my car to cry I realized I could muster through a few other days. A few more weeks. Then I came down from that panicky high of anxiety, depression, and pain. I finished my shake. And it was enough time to let me feel better. I… I’m alive. I’ll make it through.
Try and be nice today. Tomorrow. Something as much as a smile. It helped so much.
Thank you man at McDonalds.
The milkshake saved my life

Handling An Intervention
So I have some DM’s about hiding your ED when confronted about it. Let’s break it down.
Don’t Freak Out. Seriously. It’s easy to want to scream and yell because how dare someone accuse you, an obviously healthy individual, of starving/purging? Truth is, you are doing those things and you know it. They’re catching on, too. Freaking out is going to make you look 100% guilty to them. Don’t cause a scene because I can promise they’re going to tell everyone else about how you obviously have an ED judging by your reaction to the confrontation.
Be calm. This ties into #1; take a deep breath and tell them you appreciate the concern and it means a lot that they’re worried about you. Smile and brush it off, apologise for worrying them in the first place.
Anticipate a “test”. They might offer you food; maybe even one you’re extremely afraid of, like sweets. Just eat it. I know you don’t want to and your ED will be LIVID. Just eat it, and don’t run to the bathroom. It’s unplanned, not in your calories, and it’s very hard to just eat it. In the long run, this will not do you harm. Likelyhood they’ll be off your back for now, seeing as you ate a “bad food”, and you can fall right back into your initial plan of things. Eat the food and move on.
Be prepared. As you lose weight consistently, and especially if you’re doing it fast, people will begin to notice. Be ready for an intervention at any time. Be ready for eyes to be on you, and prepare accordingly for any tests and trials.
In tie with #4; download TWO calorie counting apps; one where you enter food you aren’t really eating, and your intake. Or, do what I did; enter the calories in the app, write them in the notes app on your phone, delete them off the app, and enter in food you aren’t actually eating. I started this starving game under 18 and living with parents. Of course they noticed the dramatic weight loss and one of them saw me counting calories via app. I showed them on the app over the course of several days that I was eating enough and just explained I lost weight because I was eating less than I normally did. This got them to mellow out.
Understand you cannot hide this forever. If you find yourself in an intervention where they have definitive and inarguable proof you have an ED, don’t flounder and try and talk your way out of it. ESPECIALLY if you aren’t an adult yet, and can be forced into treatment. Eventually you might look like skin and bones. Your cheeks will be puffy from purging. You’ll pass out. You’ll be caught over-exercising or bent over a toilet. So on, so forth. Acknowledge that now. All you can do is push back when this happens, and I promise, it will happen, and maybe already has even if you don’t think so. If you’re forced/persuaded into treatment, don’t make it for nothing. Try to recover. You’ll understand how sick you were.
That’s it. Remember I am not ever going to call myself some professional anorexic, a coach, or anything; just someone who’s been around the block a few times and I know how it works from my perspective.

Real Live Trans Adults
After Leelah Alcorn’s suicide, Oakland-based comedian Red Durkin started the hashtag #RealLiveTransAdult (top image above) to show transgender people afraid of coming out that there is hope and an abundance of possibilities.
Hundreds went online to share their stories (above). This is no longer news, but these tweets are so powerful and the message so important, I’ll share them anyway.

A good thread on whether “queer” is a slur and if it should be used or not.
