A new album have been released on Asbestos Digit.

"The Modern World" is a song collection representing the hypothetical scenario of entrapment in a permanent fog where every perspective vanishes as a consequence of the atavistic human instinct towards extinction which eludes any possibility of a better future. A caustic hypothesis, but also close to reality; a stream of consciousness on today's dystopias fought by the saving force of music.

"In the first album that Fabio Battistetti publishes in the Asbestos Digit roster, a thousand suggestions take over from the first listen: the Wergo-style computer music of the Eighties, a hardcore version of the chiptune music that was all the rage in videogames thirty years ago, the cold restlessness of certain hypnagogic electronics and the anxiety of bewilderment that anthropocene man pretends not to feel. A necessary wide-eyed electronic hallucination". - Andrea Prevignano (nov. 2023) The songs were composed through improvisation sessions by Fabio Battistetti between 2021 and 2022.

L'acqua non improvvisa

Sabato 22 Luglio, avrò un doppio appuntamento dal vivo alla Conca di By, Ollomont (Ao) in un posto stupendo a 2000 metri. Al mattino dalle 9,30 faremo una passeggiata sonora lungo i torrenti ed i rus, poi si pranza tutti insieme a casa Farinet ed alle 15 concerto improvvisato con l'acqua.

Welcome to Brezza!

Today some new music produced by me is released, under the name of Brezza and the first release is a digital EP titled Dialogue Mapping, you can listen and buy it on Bandcamp.

Dialogue mapping is the first (breeze) of a series of recordings performed in 2021 and assembled during 2022. All compositions are by Fabio Battistetti; recorded on small room in the hills of Lessinia.

Brezza is a musical project by Fabio Battistetti (formerly known as Eniac) with an electro-acoustic setting and inspired by the breath of the wind in the open sky. It started as a live improvisation project in 2018 and now in the same way he begins to arrange together the improvised recordings, placing individual improvisations in dialogue according to the blowing of the breeze, sometimes light and sometimes intense.

Spring, Breeze!

The spring has arrived and now the Breeze blows in every direction and spreads the smell of the first flowers as well as the last snowflakes. The spring will also bring the first recorded tracks for Brezza (Brezze), one of mine musical project born as a live improvisation in 2018 and which in the last 2 years has taken shape by assembling improvisations of single instruments. I'll publish Brezza's recordings on different format (ep & albums) along next months here on Bandcamp. And over the year there will be a couple of new musical projects and I'll be back on playing live music (from the summer).

Moorlands and natural areas in a state of neglect fascinate me. These are, apparently places without history, but potential because they give space to the imagination for the possibilities they could offer. Gèrbido is a place to wait, think and create, starting from the observation of what is or is not there.

L'anno scorso, durante il lockdown e nel mio primo periodo di acclimatamento tra i colli, sono stato coinvolto a contribuire ad ITALIAN PHONOMAP con dei suoni del luogo in cui mi trovavo.

A Genova durante Electropark Festival è stato presentato (13 Giugno 2021), come installazione sonora, tutta la raccolta di luoghi e suoni. Con un bellissimo sito, è anche fruibile dalla rete.

Musica per la Danza

Few years ago, I took dance lessons and after a while my teacher started calling me Fred Astaire, after looking at my movements. Fred was the man of tip tap, paired with Ginger Rogers, his real name was Frederick Austerlitz, and I love how it sounds the words, Frederick Austerlitz. He made a lot of sound along his career with the voice and especially with feet, and I’m attracted by the noises related to dance’ movements. Fred Astaire’s epithet came back to me, when I started composing these songs: my flawed steps, but at the same time I felt free and inspired to have discovered a new and unexplored function of my body. These songs, ideally, represent my dancing.

Musica per la Danza, is my new album, out on Acustronica.

Composed, recorded and mixed with some technologies by a human being between 2019 – 2020.

Frederick Austerlitz

Ad un certo punto, qualche anno fa, ho iniziato a danzare e chi conduceva le lezioni (a cui prendevo parte) mi definì come Fred Astaire, nel vedere i miei movimenti. Quello del tip tap, in coppia con Ginger Rogers, il suo vero nome era Frederick Austerlitz, un nome che per me, suona bene. Di suono, lui ne ha prodotto tanto, con la voce e soprattutto con i piedi, ballando il tip tap.

L’epiteto di Fred Astaire mi è tornato in mente quando ho iniziato a comporre questi brani: la i miei passi spesso imperfetti, ma che mi facevano sentire libero ed ispirato nell’aver scoperto una nuova ed inesplorata funzione del mio corpo. Queste tracce, sono idealmente, il mio danzare.

Ad inizio maggio, esce, su Acustronica, un mio nuovo album, Musica per la danza.

Tina. Storie dalla Grande Estinzione

E’ uscito in questi giorni (27 ottobre 2020), il romanzo collettivo dell'Antropocene, Tina. Storie dalla Grande Estinzione (in cui ho contribuito nello spirito e con un mio scritto).

La Grande Estinzione. La fine dell'Antropocene. Il collasso climatico, economico, infrastrutturale, sanitario, cognitivo che incombe sulle nostre fragili e complesse civiltà. La radicale messa in discussione del nostro status biologico e culturale sul pianeta: è il tema fondamentale del nostro tempo, il tema che ha ispirato TINA, l'autore-collettivo di questo libro. Un progetto che ha coinvolto più di 100 fra artisti e scrittori, per una raccolta di micro-romanzi e illustrazioni ispirati a scenari apocalittici, trasformazioni epocali, shift tecnologici e culturali. Dal Collasso dell'Età del Bronzo alle nanotecnologie, dalla Peste di Atene alla geoingegneria passando per la Brexit, l'ultimo albero sull'Isola di Pasqua, l'incontro tra Montezuma e Cortés, ?ernobyl'. Decine e decine di eventi X e cigni neri collegati tra loro da snodi tematici, connettivi logici, squarci visionari, inneschi di una reazione a catena fra scienza, narrativa, immaginario, capacità di pensare l'impensabile. TINA è un autore collettivo coordinato da Matteo Meschiari e Antonio Vena. Il nome ricorda e omaggia Tina Michelle Fontaine (1999-2014), una ragazzina nativa del Canada uccisa a 15 anni: una microapocalisse che fa parte dei tanti genocidi a bassa intensità con i quali scompaiono individui, lingue, tradizioni, mondi, possibilità. TINA è anche un acronimo: There Is No Alternative, rovesciamento dello slogan usato da Herbert Spencer, Margaret Thatcher e Francis Fukuyama per giustificare il regime neoliberista che ci ha condotti sulla soglia dell'abisso, alla fine della storia.

Torino Disco Cross – Volume 8

La fanzine di musica elettronica Torino Disco Cross è scesa in mare in soccorso del vascello pirata di Radio Blackout (attiva dal 1992, in cui Fabio, per alcuni anni, ne prese parte come ciurma) a seguito del messaggio di soccorso: alla luce degli eventi pandemici è diventato difficile procedere all'autofinanziamento della radio tramite, concerti, feste... Torino Disco Cross ha chiamato a bordo 24 musicisti per produrre il volume 8 della compilation. Da oggi si può averne copia (in formato digitale), sottoscrivendo la campagna di sostegno alla Radio.

Mi sono chiesto (per fortuna, non sono il solo) su come suoni il mondo là fuori, oggi al tempo del Covid-19 e come possiamo possiamo portare un po' di bellezza, almeno alle nostre orecchie ? Ne ho scritto per È - arte, formazione, cura. partendo dallo sguardo del quartiere Aurora di Torino, dove realizzamo Aurora Sonora.
