“Alright, Dylan, let’s go.”

Ryan’s head spins with the rush of adrenaline flooding his veins, the bottle trembling lightly against his knees as he tries to still his hands by digging his fingers into his jeans. Don’t get him wrong, Kaitlyn was cool and all, but something about Dylan grabbed Ryan’s attention. Maybe it was the cringey attempt at flirting or the complete lack of common sense- or it could've been the fact that Ryan had a feeling this Dylan wasn’t actually who he said he was. Either way, he had his interest. 

Sharp whistles and whoops make Ryan's heart kickstart in his chest and his eyes watch Dylan stand, a smile growing as bright as the fire in front of him.

It didn’t take long for Dylan to bend down in front of him, but in that moment, Ryan’s world stilled. Like time had paused, he gazed up at Dylan and he is nothing but a dark shadow with embers circling around his being like a golden aura. The light from the fire made his features sharp, casting geometric patterns on his face, his pupils holding the reflection of the full moon in them. Dylan was grinning ear to ear as he drew closer to Ryan, tilting his head to the side with brown hair sweeping across his forehead and clinging to his long eyelashes. Ryan could smell the stale beer and smoke on his lips.

It was Ryan who closed the gap between them, leaning forward to brush his lips against Dylan's.

It was fast, but when they kissed, Ryan felt everything. His entire body lit up because kissing Dylan was like kissing the flames of the fire behind him- making Ryan's lips burn and his vision explode with orange and yellow, both his new favorite colors. His chest burned. His nerves sparked. Dylan tasted like honey in his mouth and it was intoxicating. And when Dylan pulled away slowly, those eyes flicking up and down Ryan's face,  a smug, boyish smile appeared.

Dylan knew the truth now. He knew exactly what he did to Ryan.
