I’m posting a photo of her so I can share it elsewhere without having to add personal social media accounts. I fought with myself about posting anything at all.

This is my dog, Maya. Her birthday was December 1st, we had such a great long weekend together. She turned 13 years old. I had adopted her from a shelter when she was just around 4 months old.

The following weekend she started to get sick and on the 21st I made the hardest decision I think I’ll ever have to make, I had to say goodbye to my entire world. I miss her a lot, she was everything to me.

Nobody realizes what a huge impact a dog has on people like me. I have very little people I keep close (usually just one or two) and I don’t desire being around my family. Maya was my favorite, I grew up with her, she was there through a lot of ups and downs.

I’m never going to be able to give you morning snuggles before we get up for breakfast and a walk.

You aren’t going to be waiting eagerly at the top of the stairs every time I come home.

I won’t get to experience your goofy zoomies or watch you whip around your carrots before we go for our last walk of the night.

I won’t have you to sing and dance with on my days off while I clean and get ready for our day.

I won’t be going for walks like I used to. Because I don’t have you. You made the world so much fun.

You inspired so much of my artwork, I see you in so many things.

My stupid brain told me my dog would live forever, we were invincible together. Even though I was very aware that wasn’t true, but I still believed it was.

I feel like I lost the best part of myself, I feel like I lost the only thing that made hard days worth it.

I miss you terribly. I wish you were here. I love you, Maya.

P.S. I’ll keep your favorite goose toy safe, I promise.

EDIT: I’m not familiar with their anatomy so, I accidentally gave her an extra finger lol and apparently her arms are to long. People are chewing me out for it buht I figured I would mention it here before anyone else decided to. IM AWARE OF MY MISTAKES
