With your song Merch of the Cards, did you take inspiration from general dungeon crawler games or just the vibes of Decked out two or both?

Ooh I’d say a little bit of both! I love dungeon crawler games (Binding of Isaac is one of my favorites)!

I wrote it pretty early into the development of Decked Out 2, so I referenced DO1 a lot too. But there’s actual an entirely different version of the song that I wrote before I settled on Mercy of the Cards :D

Favorite Tumblr Artists

Hey everyone! I've been loving scrolling through Tumblr and finding a ton of MCYT visual artists.

I realized I should ask -

Who are your favorite artists here? (Or people I should know about!)

What's your stance on making covers of your songs?

I want to get into making music, and one of the ways I want to start is with covers of some of my favorite songs, which includes many of yours! I also wrote lyrics for a desert duo song, which was heavily inspired by your style of music :3.

Good question - I absolutely love it when people make covers of my music! Try to credit me if you can :D (and tag me! I love to listen/repost when I can!)

I used to make a lot of covers to learn music production/songwriting, so it means a lot to be in a position where someone is doing that with my music!

In general, you're also free to use my music if you're adding creative value to it (like with an animatic, speed paint, or remix). There have been a few cases where people just reupload my music, and for the most part, that's not as cool. But it's less of a problem now that I'm a bigger artist :)

Q&A!

How'd you get into music? Like what the first platform you started on, was it an irl instrument or like garage-band? Did you have a love and interest for music, or was it through school or smth? ☺️

(I have a spotify playlist just for my favourite songs of yours, and I play it periodically. They're so genuinely good, I'm so grateful you've made 'em!)

I grew up doing musical theater and taking piano lessons! I also played percussion (melodic and rhythmic) in my band class. Music has always been a huge part of my life!

I think I started recording music with an electric piano and the program Audacity, but then moved to Cakewalk by Bandlab. Once I got a little bit more serious, I invested in Ableton Live (everything from my YouTube channel has been using that) :D

This song is about Hermitcraft's pesky permit office exile plot and my own life. I thought the silly story of sending people to a remote island mirrored the feeling of parting ways with someone, being on your own, and the joys and challenges of it all.

I hope you can relate - or at least enjoy it in the silliness of the Hermitcraft universe :))
