an ode to words lost
how many times have i thought "yes! a thought i should capture!"
but somehow manage to lose grip on it
and its gone before i can grab the right pen or log into my laptop or find a quiet space.
oh! how many words have i lost?
and when i die, can i have them back?

magic found
the magic is here
in the fireflies and crickets
the stars and the sticky summer air
the hot breath of my sigh.
it's here and it's in me too

thoughts on a permeating loneliness
my inner world is vast and vibrant
but i cannot help the ache that radiates even there
it pulses. the throbbing truth.
i look around
i'm the only one here

burst
what is the invisible film that clings tight to my skin,
a shield and a prison?
if i could just grab hold of it and rip myself free.
better yet tell me what to fix inside,
what demon i need to slaughter in order to earn love.
i will fight it gallantly,
the horrible thing inside me
maybe it's my skin itself that betrays me
could it be that this body that has carried me
and gone through times of war and peace
is what keeps my soul isolated and
my heart in purgatory?
there is a love in me that
threatens to burst like a faulty dam
it leaks through my eyes as tear drops
begging to be given away,
accepted and kept.
look me in the eyes and tell me if you know why. what is it about me that leaves me unlovable. tell me so i can decide if it's something i can bear sacrificing. tell me so i can change or decidedly stay the same.
holding this leaden love with nowhere to put it down
my muscles threaten to give out
searching for a safe place to rest

Kingdom of Ash Standouts
I FINISHED KINGDOM OF ASH HERE ARE SOME THINGS I HIGHLIGHTED:
SPOILERS!
"Trunks hidden in attics were thrown open. Folded swaths of red cloth pulled from within. Brooms left in closets, beside doorways, tucked under beds, were brought out, bound in gold or silver or twine... 'Fly, fly, fly!' they shouted. 'To the queen! To war!'" (pg. 561).
"'I would rather fly with you than with ten thousand Ironteeth at my side.' She smiled slightly. 'Tomorrow, we will show them why.'" (pg. 697)
"'If I don't die tomorrow, may I kiss you when the day is done?'" (pg. 699).
"Dorian touched Damaris's hilt and said, 'I will take care of it. Of Adarlan. For whatever time I have left. I will not abandon it.' The sword glowed warm... 'I know,' he said. 'I have always known that.'" (pg. 702).
"She saw them all, familiar and foreign, fighting and at peace, in sprawling cities or hidden deep within the wilds. So many people, revealed to her. Erilea. She threw herself into it" (pg. 801).
'The scent of Dorian's and Chaol's tears replaced the salt of Endovier as Aelin stared up at Rowan and smiled" (pg. 802).
"Two women, who had never known each other, two women who the world had deemed ordinary. Two women, Josefin and Marion, who had chosen hope in the face of darkness. Two women, in the end, who had brought them all this moment. This one shot at a future" (pg. 904).
"The power of creation and destruction. That's what lay within her. Life-Giver. World-Maker" (pg. 905).
"I took his name, Erawan spat, writhing as the words flowed from his tongue under Damaris's power. I wiped it away from existence, Yet he only remembered it once. Only once. The first time he beheld you" (pg. 907).
"Two mothers, whose love for their daughters and hope for a better world was greater than any power" (pg 908)
"Life- life was pain. Pain, and joy. Joy because of the pain. He saw it in Elide's face. In every line and age mark. In every white hair. A life lived - together. The pain of parting because of how wonderful it had been" (pg. 915).
"All the women who had fought by her side, or from afar. Who had bled and sacrificed and never given up hope that this day might come" (pg. 964).
anyways wtf do i do now
