Convenience

I am convenience I’m like that convenience store across the street I’m open 24 hours, for you I have everything you need

I am convenience I’m like an Uber driver who will pick you up When you’re too tired to commute To take you where you want to go

I am convenience I’m like a search engine Who will give you answers, and answers But you won’t give me any

I am convenience But you are the opposite of that You are effort I will always exert And you are time I will always spare

I am convenience And convenience is not free I am not free I am shackled by my kindness But I am shackled by myself

You don’t owe me anything You don’t owe me money Or stars Or answers

I owe myself Love,  Respect, And maybe higher standards

Because I may be convenience But I deserve effort, I deserve time, I deserve more

I’m supposed to be studying for an exam… (its tomorrow oops) but I felt the urge to draw princess peach! hahaha

this is a major WIP, I’m probably going to redraw her dress & arms completely, and change some of the hair on the right side…. then color!!!

Queue

I always have so many words to say So many, that they must have some sort of line A queue, where they wait their turn Till it’s their moment to be spoken

My time with you It’s like office hours At some point we have to say goodbye Some words have to wait till next time

Some words don’t have to wait “How are you?” Some words wait days “Do you… wanna watch a movie?” Some words are still waiting … They’re still waiting

Because unlike a real queue Yknow, “first in, first out” My brain discriminates There’s an express lane for the nonsense, the simple, the fun

The difficult? They’re like the opposite of senior citizens No matter how old these words are No matter how much they bother me at night They’re stuck in an unmoving line

Some brave words Armed with emotion and timing Have made it out there Past my lips, into the air

Most though? They wait till they’re forgotten Till they’re irrelevant Or till they’ve changed

Changed to something safer To words that’ll make their way down the queue Something like “Yknow, I used to like you.”

I don’t really write poetry, or spoken word, but I wrote and performed this a few months ago for Litnight, an internal event we hold in our organization. I was the Programs Director for the event, and I was feeling all these feels anyway, so might as well get out there and contribute haha!

I’m a huge chatterbox, so it was just a matter of writing down the words I wanted to say. That’s how I write tbh, I say things out loud on a recording, and if it feels/sounds right, I note it down.  Some people laughed at the FIFO queue reference... because I used to study Industrial Engineering (what a nerd HAHAJK), someone else made a lot of math metaphors, so PLS
