It seems like the first rule of magic, or at least the first limitation mentioned, is usually ‘you can’t bring back the dead.’
And I know it makes sense from a writing standpoint, but I also wonder if it comes from somewhere else. If that’s just the first, most common human...

So I have questions for anyone who sees this who has fostered a pet: what was your experience like? Did you have any issues with getting too attached to an animal that wasn't technically yours? How much support did you get from the rescue organization? Was the rescue organization able to do things like care for the pet if you went out of town, deal with veterinary care if the pet got sick, etc., or were you on your own?

Weirdly this goes in the opposite direction for me? I'm attracted to guys more often than to girls and I have this constant fear that I'm not queer ENOUGH and I'm committing some kind of betrayal by having a boyfriend. Even though I've dated girls and had a girlfriend in the past??? idk it's weird
idk I keep on dealing with this rush of panic when I think about how even though I’m bisexual, I have a preference for women - like! am I being mean! am I being UNFAIR to men! and I just wish that more bisexual women were shown ending up with women instead of the inevitable portrayal that our relationships with other women are just phases or college-era experiences or whateverthefuck Chasing Amy bullshit
I get very nervous idk

This is so relevant to my life right now... I literally just had a conversation with my boyfriend about the Trayvon Martin case wherein I quoted word-for-word a bunch of rules about character evidence. I was trying to speak colloquially but I just couldn't stop the phrase "action in conformity therewith" from coming out of my mouth. I'M NOT EVEN AN ATTORNEY.
Casually quoted the federal rules of evidence, complete with rule numbers, in class today and everyone turned and stared at me

Important STI testing facts: Typically, NOT all STIs will be included in a test--HPV and herpes are typically not tested for because there is no 100% certain way to tell if you have them, unless you currently have an outbreak. On a related note, lots of STIs will be asymptomatic or only have mild symptoms for a long time, so healthy-seeming genitalia are not necessarily STI-free. This is why it is SUPER important to talk to all your sexual partners (no matter how casual) about their sexual health and to ALWAYS use barrier protection (even if everything looks fine) unless you and your partner are monogamous and have been tested. You can find more info about specific STIs here: http://www.iwannaknow.org/teens/sti/testing.html
Kinda off topic, but I remember watching a show on abc family called "10 things I hate about you" and on the show, the main character, goes to a clinic with her boyfriend and they get tested for stds before she will agree to have sex with him. I always thought this was clever, but I've never heard of anyone doing this irl so i wanted to get your opinion. Like is this practical? Seems like more people should be aware of this option. Sorry for being off topic, love your blog :). Have a lovely day!
well, just as a preface, though this has a lot of overlap with things I talk about, I’m definitely not a sex blogger/expert on these things or what is the norm.
I mean, I’ve heard of it often as a concept… I’d agree it doesn’t happen often. “Practical,” I would think, is sort of dependent the ease with which you can obtain a test…? I think if you get it from a regular OBGYN it usually costs a fair amount of money, it’s not free. Planned parenthood does offer free testing, but from a QUICK look at their site it looks like that’s if you’re 200% above poverty level or less, so I’m about $1,000 or so past that, personally. And getting a test won’t be as easy if your transportation options are limited, if you live with parents and they don’t approve/won’t help you, etc. And of course, it’s not going to be all that practical if you have different partners fairly frequently. And I think, to be honest, once you’re older, relationships don’t always progress in a way that makes testing easy to get before sexual activity (you might be sexually active before you are in an “official” relationship, and that can be an uncomfortable thing to ask someone before you’re sure you’re dating. That isn’t to deter you or anything— just trying to explain why some people might not find it practical, since you asked!)
If it’s something that makes you feel comfortable, you can and should make sure it happens — it’s a good preventative measure — just realize it’s a question, not something you can demand of anyone. Someone can decline to go with you for any of the above reasons or any others and, obviously, you can break up with them if that’s not something you’re okay with. It’s definitely a good idea to get tested regularly if you are sexually active.
Anyway, if you’re in a situation like this and curious, I would ask around, call Planned Parenthood, Google etc. to see what your local options are and how to open that conversation, this reply isn’t meant to be the end-all answer in any way.

THANK YOU.
O-FUCKING-KAY
I keep seeing the headline “JK Rowling says Hermione should’ve ended up with Harry instead of Ron”
I read the goddamn article
NOWHERE do I see her say that Hermione should’ve ended up with Harry
she just says maybe she shouldn’t have ended up with Ron
WHY is it that whenever a woman isn’t assigned to one male lead, she’s presumed to belong to another??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!

So I'm kind of weirdly obsessed with the song "Frozen Heart" from Frozen. IT IS SO GOOD AND I WANT TO LISTEN TO IT ALL DAY. Does anyone know of any songs that are similar to it, so I can add them to my collection? Like.... work-chant type songs I guess? Is this a genre???
