(I know I changed my Username now but this has been in my drafts for a while, hence the old username in the header)
So hey guys! long time no post, but to make it up to you here is a long requested maths edition of my “how to study” series
Preparing For Class
I always recommend reading over your notes from the last lesson to ensure that you’ve understood the topic. Usually in maths it’s essential to understand the basics of a question before you move on to the more advanced areas. So make sure you understand what you’ve done so far before you move on!
Doing a practice question before class can be really useful in a) making sure you’ve understood and b) boosting your confidence, if you can nail this question there’s no way you can’t nail today’s lesson!
In Class
Take Notes
If you do have a textbook many teachers will correspond the course to the textbook meaning it’s easy to think you don’t have to make notes as the textbook has all of the information! NO, I still recommend taking notes as this will make you pay attention to the information, and include anything your teacher says that’s not in the book.
Try and write things down as STEPS i.e.
Step 1)
Step 2)
this will help you when reviewing what you’ve done and help you remember the order in which you should complete the task and ensure you don’t skip steps (which is very easy to do in maths)
Ask Questions
The same applies for every subject but if you don’t understand what your teacher is telling you, ASK THEM!!!
If you get lost during a lesson!
Don’t be sad, be S.A.D.
STOP! look at what you’ve done so far,
ASK! the teacher for assistance or clarification,
DON’T give up!! try again until you understand, if you’re still lost when you get home watch a youtube video about the topic or research the topic until you understand.
After Class
Practice, practice, practice! honestly practising math questions is the only way to make sure that you can answer them.
Review your notes!
Do at least one practice question! Really do as many as you have time to do, but don’t overwork yourself.
5 for 20, I personally used to find it useful to go back 5 lessons in your book and answering a practice question on that topic, then go back another 5 and so on until you’ve done 20 minutes. This made sure that I practised previous work and I also became pretty competitive with myself - how many can I do in 20 minutes? Can I beat my previous record?
Revising
Whiteboards
As always, I’m a whiteboard fanatic and will recommend them until I die. But really whiteboards are so useful for maths because you can do practice questions on them and then just wipe it away! For more about my love of whiteboards here is my post about them.
Flashcards
Flashcards can be kind of difficult to make for maths but I do recommend making some with important equations or general rules like circle theorems or other topics that have general rules. But don’t focus all of your attention on learning the theory! ensure that you can apply it!
PRACTICE!!!
I’ll repeat it for you guys in the back! practising math questions is the only way to make sure that you can answer them!!
Start from the HARDEST topic that you know the least about!
It’s human nature to want to go over topics you’re kind of good at, or the smaller topics, or the ones that are slightly easier! NO! do the hardest, or the one you are the worst at first.
Resources
So my favourite resources for maths are:
Khan Academy
Youtube (really just search your topic into the search bar and you’ll find great videos - try sorting by most viewed too)
I hope that was helpful, check out my other posts in my how to study series
History
Biology
Chemistry
Psychology
French
If you have any requests for subjects you’d like me to do next let me know :)

@your opinion post. Personally, I would block him. That is a massive red flag for me. I had a “friend” once who was just like that: an otherwise okay dude but who said girls are too sensitive about harassment. It freaked me out, and for good reason, because last year he was convicted of sexual assault and misconduct and also domestic abuse. Not to say that this guy is the same, but it raises a red flag for me based on my own experiences 😬
Thank you!! I can’t block him as he’s in my classes so I feel like he’d just confront me and it would make him act out but I’m definitely going to stop replying to him and distance myself. I only have 3 classes left with him until my group changes so luckily i can ignore him. He’s an awkward guy, I’ve noticed he says everything to try and please me, like saying what I want to hear not what he wants to say. So I think if I just stop replying he’ll get the message and leave me alone whereas if I blocked him he’d confront me about it.
Thank you though for sharing your experience! And if he carries on even though I don’t reply I’ll definitely block him!

Opinions please!!
So I don’t know if I’m overreacting and I need your help 😂
Basically I’m texting a guy that’s in my class and I just told him about when I was followed home in first year and had to get security involved because this guy followed me for over 30 minutes to my halls of residence. (Where I lived) quite a traumatic experience for me anyway..
So the guy I was texting said I should think “maybe I’m just pretty enough to be followed home. Is that a good thing, or a bad thing.. hmmm? I’m not sure”
This pissed me off so much for so many reasons would it annoy you? I don’t know if I’m being overly sensitive -.- but he says things like that quite often where he thinks guys acting ‘creepy’ are a compliment to the girl

Brain scans and Blog rates
Sorry I’ve been inactive lately but there’s a lot been going on so here’s the dl.
I went to my opticians for some new glasses (my eyesight is deteriorating so I need a stronger lense).
My optician noticed that the back of my eyes are swollen so I was referred to the Eye Hospital.
They ran some tests and have concluded that my eyes are swollen where the nerves connect the eye to the brain suggesting that I have too much pressure in my brain.
I now have to get an MRI scan and a lumber puncture (needle in the spine to remove fluid) so they can identify the problem.
So that’s why I’ve been inactive 😂 ngl I’m very scared about it so haven’t been studying as much as usual hence why I haven’t posted.
To make up for it imma do some BLOG RATES! So I’ll make a separate post for you to like if you want one!
Love you all, Bella x

So managing your readings can be super difficult, so I decided to share my method of managing, annotating and organising my readings.
Organisation
Folder
So I use a folder/binder to hold all of my readings and I use plastic dividers to separate each of my modules. (I used to use card dividers but since I got the plastic ones I’ll never go back! they feel really nice and DO NOT RIP, whereas my card ones would always rip.)
Checklist
So this may not be possible for everyone but it’s really useful for me.
My university has a portal/website that I can access which details all of the readings I need to do each week and other information about my modules.
I use this portal to make a checklist for each of my modules, the checklist includes the date it needs to be read by, the title of the document and a checkbox. When I’ve read the document I tick it off!! (it makes you feel really accomplished to tick readings off of the list)
Post It Note
So I go through my checklist and write all of the readings I have to do for the week on a post-it note that I then stick to the front of my folder. This means that I can just quickly glance to see a) how much I have to read and b) what I have to read.
Annotating
So I only highlight the MOST important things on the page, if more than 10% of the page is highlighted then I’ve probably highlighted too much. I like to use post-it notes and summarise the entire reading (if it’s a big reading I’ll use a sheet of paper and stable it), I then stick this post-it note to the beginning of the reading.

Autumn university tips 🍂
- Get a BIG scarf, cool fashion accessory that can double as a blanket for lectures or library sessions
- Hot chocolate, get a loyalty card at Costa and fuel your studying with hot chocolate
- Gloves, you may not think you need them but honestly you’re little fingers will thank you
- Wear a dark lip, you’ll feel badass and that will help your overall mood
- If you’re studying at home get some candles!!! Autumn candles are some of the best and they make studying more enjoyable and relaxing.

I changed my major halfway through my application period and I’m so happy I did. I’ve just finished my first year with the highest possible grade and I honestly believe that’s because I’m persuing a major I love
College Tips: How Do I Know If I Should Switch Major(s)?
College is an intense transition from high school – you don’t have 5+ one hour classes every day. You sit in a lecture hall for an hour or more a day, and will have a different class every day. You may even have work on top of a hectic and/or rigorous college schedule. On top of all of this, you have to prioritize your study time to excel in your coursework. You may have to sacrifice your social life on certain weeks to study for three exams piled in the same week. Or, you may not even have a social life.
This is college – and trust me, I get it. Things get tough way too often, and you feel like you’ve not had sleep in days at some point in your academic career.
As you complete your coursework towards your degree program, you may realize you don’t like your major anymore. Or rather, would like to change your major to something you find would suit you better and enjoy more.
In high school, many find themselves attached to the idea of a certain major or career. They never want to switch majors, and are so focused on this that they develop what I call “tunnel vision” – they focus solely on that career and major, and only that. If you find something you love, you tend to cling to it. How do I know this? I dealt with this exact same thing into my sophomore year of college. This was literally me for a year and a half!

Here are some French YouTube channels I enjoy that you could check in order to practice and improve your understanding of French ! I will describe them a bit if needed, and I hope this post will be useful !
