Little insignificant headcanon that when Dick first started living with Bruce and he was in his sassy unhinged third grader era, Bruce would always give him a lollipop when they went out as Bruce and Dick. At a gala? Dick has a lollipop. To the park? Dick has a lollipop. A Gotham Knights game? Dick has a lollipop. Interview with Vickie Vale? Dick has a lollipop.

Everyone is convinced Dick Grayson just has a lollipop addiction. In reality? Bruce has to give him one so he’s too preoccupied to run his mouth. The few times Dick isn’t given a lollipop or Bruce runs out while they’re still out and about, Dick acts like a feral little brat who makes an interviewer cry, all with a smile on his face as he squeezes Bruce’s hand, giggling. The first gala Bruce brought Dick to, they had to leave early because Dick was a little too sassy with a few Wayne Enterprises partners and a couple women who were trying to flirt with Bruce and shoo Dick away. It was shortly after that when Bruce came up with the lollipop solution.

So most paparazzi pictures of Dick show him with a lollipop of some sort, but it even carries over to when he’s an adult. Did Bruce get him addicted to them? Maybe. Not on purpose. But now, everyone think Dick just has always loved lollipops, and even though he’s currently got one in his mouth and he’s fiddling with the stick, he smirks and explains, “Actually no, Bruce first started giving them to me when I was little to get me to shut up. It’s so sad, really. Children should be seen and not heard, isn’t that what you said, B?”

Bruce is glaring at him. Shit like that is exactly why he needed to keep Dick’s mouth shut in the first place.

Hmmmmmmm Dick and Jason who have whistle code that none of the other bats know because they came up with it one weekend when Jaybin was in New York.

“The guy went that way, but I did get his gun and—” Steph was cut off by a loud one-two whistle coming from a few blocks away. Her brow furrowed but she opened her mouth to continue updating Dick.

But Dick was tensed and he let out a long whistle, sliding from low to high. He cocked his head seemingly waiting for a response.

“Nightwing, what’s—”

“Sh!” He hissed sharply. There was suddenly a response, a high-low-low, and Dick launched himself across the rooftop swinging in the direction of the whistle.

“What the fuck!” Steph yelled after him.

“Jason got stabbed!”

Man that art of Dick with Jason after UTRH, his tears! Jason's hurt expression! it so angsty I love it. Could you draw Dick's reaction to the news Jaybin died, his Little Wing that he can never see again. With your arts of Jaybin always hanging on to him imagine him suddenly feeling the loss of that warm weight, thinking he'd never get it back. The anger and grief at not being there.

dickjay clothes preference hcs?

Uhm Dick would look great in casual/sporty outfits (because he's always showing off his athletic skills or climbing sth) I also like him wearing total black suits or dark blue ones ughh Dick wearing a button-up shirt under a cargidan, classic pants, a jacket and a tie aah ~ Oh and Dick only in his underwear when he's alone in his apartment 👀

Jason also looks great in a light grey suit, waistcoat, burgundy tie uhh ~ I prefer him wearing t-shirts, sweaters and flannel oversize shirt (90s vibes ☆) pants, shorts, jeans, any type, any material. And varsity jackets and college hoodies that he shares with Dick, also biker&aviator jackets suit him a lot too!

My favorite flavor of Dickjay angst is Dick feeling immense guilt for the way he treated Jaybin after his death. And then later seeing Jason alive again and seeing it as his second chance to make things right. But because Jason is so convinced that dick doesn’t care about him, he gets super defensive and avoidant. And when dick tries even harder, Jason pulls harder in the opposite direction. 

Dick's guilt toward Jason is also my main angst hc, especially as it shapes their pre-relationship dynamic, while they deal with the misunderstandings and mistakes of their youth; Dick was around Jason's age when he comes back as RH, and Jason was still a kid after all. As dickjay shippers we like to think of Dick trying so hard to prove Jason how much he means to him, cause when Jason was gone his absence was deeply felt and drastically changed Dick. However, Jason has all the valid reasons to not believe Dick's feelings are different now, or that his death may have been so significant to have affected someone else's life. Jason wants concrete proof that he is important as a human being, that at least someone cares about him; Jason's been hurt too many times by the people he cared about to allow himself to trust Dick or anyone so easily.

My less popular opinion (and what I believe to be implied by the art in Lost Days) is that rather than waking up in a fully grown body Jason didn’t actually complete his puberty until after his Lazarus pit dip while he was on his murder tour. Imagine you’re tied up in a basement in Berlin getting interrogated by a teenager and his voice is cracking the entire time and if you laugh he’s going to shoot you

Do you have any headcannon for UTRH Dickjay? Or more specifically, dickjay but Jason's identity is still secret?

My hcs on UTRH dickjay are mostly angsty and centered on Dick (cause Jason's hurt and enraged and it's consuming him; I kinda stick to canon on this) also, my UTRH Bruce wants to "get rid of Jason", as if he refuses to face 'his mistakes' and doesn't want to deal with them, but since you asked about Dick who still doesn't know Red Hood's identity, I like to think of Dick becoming obsessed over Red Hood like; Dick is not dumb, am I right? Bruce's acting suspiciously and Dick's interest in RH becomes more and more intense. I can imagine that Dick tracks RH down and the two fight and RH shows great knowledge of NW's abilities, thus not being "just a criminal", Dick realizes that Bruce's hiding something and he's preventing Dick from finding out more about Red Hood's identity. Dick's shadowing Bruce when he gets to know the man under the red hood and it's Jason, his little wing, now a young man – and he's badly injured. Dick panics, he can't let this happen again, but this time he is there, so Dick rescues Jason keeping him away from Bruce.
