When you get weight at the doctor and you don’t have a full meltdown even though your weight is higher and you still go work out because it is good for you but not because of a number. I call that a pretty awesome body positive day!
*PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT*
If an immigrant or a person of color asks you to call them by a different name–respect their wishes! They just don’t want to hear you butcher their name. I asked a senior white woman to “just call me Lima”. She consequently tried to explain *to me* the meaning of my name and her credentials to pronounce it correctly because she is married to a Latino. Obviously, she got the side Frida stare.
I love my body! I love it as it is now and as it will be tomorrow. So many institutions try to eradicate or police our existence: with deportations, mass incarceration, limit woman's choice and in the worst possible scenario death. Even the aspects that they are unable to explicitly erase the other parts are taught as undesirable; we will be taught to do the work for them and hate ourselves. With so much work put into all these structures the only logical conclusion I can make is that my body is the most radical and subversive tool I have. It does not mean it is perfect it just means I am grateful for it. Today, tomorrow and forever.
I am totally obsessed with this podcast! Heben @heavenrants and Tracy are my best friends (in my mind)! Thank you guys for helping me see myself in a different light. Thank you for helping me embrace who I am as a brown woman (at the age of 29)! Love you guys!!😘😘😘😘😘
