thinking about how at some point Rhaenyra will become a literal ghost to Alicent. Not someone she can reach but someone she will mourn and it will drive her CRAZY.

There should be a study of how every mother in Game of Thrones loves her children. The study of motherhood. I'm serious. It's so interesting.

there's something to be said about the fact that the most sympathetic view we get of Cersei throughout the books comes from Catelyn (and Ned to an extent). They're on opposing sides of a continental war, Cersei is partly responsible for Ned's death and is now holding Sansa (and Arya as far as Catelyn knows) hostage, and still, right before the battle between Renly and Stannis, when Catelyn goes to pray, she wonders if Cersei prays to the same gods she does. She just realized that Bran learning of Cersei's and Jaime's affair is the reason he fell, and still finds it in herself to think that Cersei is a mother too, that no matter if her children came from Robert of Jaime, she still carried them and birthed them and fed them. Her hate for Cersei cannot be understated, and yet, in that sept, the moment when Catelyn thinks to herself that even Cersei, with her proud and cold and lovely features, would weep for her children too does more to humanize Cersei than any single appearance she had in Tyrion's, Jaime's or Sansa's chapters.

I think of one Ned’s funniest moments is when Cersei slaps him and he repeats to her what she said to Robert after he slapped her

Like… your accusing her kids of being bastards and your JOKING right now????

Alicent offers a response to Gwayne’s remark regarding her son Daeron, who was raised in Oldtown.
Cersei reflects on Myrcella’s death from poisoning, which occurred during her journey back to King’s Landing.

every now and then i’m reminded that liv cooke as alicent hightower is the most doe eyed gorgeous tragic unfulfilled desperate ambitious disillusioned woman ever and that i’ll always be in love with her and how makes a very straight-up book character into someone you can’t help but feel sorry for even as she makes the most awful decisions ever

The fact that so many want to down play what Alicent went through is wild. I seeing mostly by TB stans who think Aegon is cute.
Because yes she didn't treat him the same as her other children, but you need to remember he was the one who sealed her fate. He's the one who made her a Mother when she wasn't ready, he was the one who made her a true Queen when all she wanted to be was Lady Alicent. He was the golden cage she always tried a way to break free from all while polishing it and cherishing it. While her last three children were her chains the ones she could break free from but refused for what was the point there was already the cage.
Alicent and Aegon's relationship was very poetic to me especially when you compare it to her relationship with Aemond and Helaena.
Also this post was inspired by a conversation me and my bestie @sugutoad had today
