I signed up for my first #ArtFight! I'm excited to see which team I'll get, but the hardest thing is going to be choosing which characters to make model sheets for. The shortlist:

Dr. Paul Feistus, a psychiatrist with old-school horror villain Sir Christopher Lee/Vincent Price vibes and a massive thing against The Medical System

Natalie Marlowe-Feistus, his hereditary witch daughter. Does the detached cheerful creepy thing far too well, likes fire, carries around a battered stuffed rabbit

June Slovich, owner of the town Pagan shop. Perky goth vibes, specializes in protective charm bundles and auras

Janus Taltos, head of the mysterious Organization. Short king Roma with quasi-immortality and the ability to manifest raven wings.

Owen Evers, one of the Organization's archivists. Runs their cover front antique store, and has psychometry (can see memories stored in objects).

Hachikawa Ko, leader of the Japanese Haven of the Organization. Descended from samurai, very austere and composed, can manifest lynx features (eyes, ears, etc).

Aidan Flann, half-elf D&D Druid & bartender with a black lab for a companion.

Played with acrylics over the weekend on a set of incomplete chess pieces, and challenged myself to do a canvas with only the paint I had left on the palette.

One zombie templar down, three to go... the pawns will have pride flag capes and be pride warriors, and the kings and queens are getting Dragged in the best way. 💅🫦

Project Halloween 2025: Part 2 (The Sash)

After scrutinizing many a screenshot and watching Eleanor Baker's woefully short tour of Robotnik's costumes, I deduced that the sash of the coat/pants/Stone's Shirt combo is part of a serape blanket.

So I've put together a single-crochet pattern of diagonal stripes that mimics the thin-thick variation of serape but still only uses the signature Robotnik red and black. It's coming out well so far:

Pattern is as follows:

Chain 20. To get the diagonal stripes, skip/decrease the first stitch in each new row and add/increase one more on to the end. Switch colors as follows:

3 rows red - 2 rows black - 1 row red - 1 row black - 1 row red - 3 rows black - 2 rows red - 1 row black - 1 row red - 1 row black

Repeat until you have something the same width as the waistband of your pants. You can also chain more or less if you need to adjust the height of the band. I eyeballed it.

The yarn I'm using is Loops & Threads Cuddle Craft Tube in Ladybug Love and Starless Night, because I'm still new at crochet and it's very easy to see and count the stitches.

THIS WEEKEND! Welcome the last of the Lines of Power special re-issue editions: The Proper Bearing!

The year is 1979, and all Nicholas Forsythe wants to do is enjoy his last few terms of boarding school before his brutish father attempts to force him into the cold, stiff-upper-lipped life of an English businessman. I needed to hear this, OP, thank you. Passing it on to anyone else who may need it, too.

As someone recently diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, one thing that’s been helping me grapple with the intense shame I have over all my “wasted potential” is accepting that potential doesn’t exist and never did.

This sounds so harsh, but please bare with me.

I procrastinated a lot growing up. I still procrastinate today, but less so. And yet, I got good grades. I could write an A+ paper that “knocked [my professor]’s socks off” in the hour before class and print it with sweat running down my face.

I was so used to hearing from teachers and family that if I just didn’t procrastinate and worked all the time, I could do anything! I had all this potential I wasn’t living up to!

And that’s true, as far as it goes, but that’s like saying if Usain Bolt just kept going he could be the fastest marathon runner in the world. Why does he stop at the end of the race??

If ANYONE could make their top speed/most productive setting the one they used all the time, anyone could do anything. But you can’t. Your top speed is not a speed you’re able to sustain.

Now, I’ve found that I do need to work on not procrastinating. Not because the product is better, even, but because it’s better for my mental health and physical health to not have a full, sweating, panicked breakdown over every task even if the task itself turns out excellently. It’s a shitty way to live! You feel bad ALL the time! And I don’t deserve to live like that anymore.

So all of this to say, I’m not wasting a ton of potential. I don’t have an ocean of productivity and accomplishments inside of me that I could easily, effortlessly access if I just sat down 8 hours a day and worked. There’s no fucking way. That’s not real. It’s an illusion. It’s fine not to live up to an illusion.

And if you have ADHD, I mean this from the bottom of my heart: you do not have limitless potential confounded by your laziness. You have the good potential of a good person, and you can access it with practice and work, but do not accept the story that you are choosing not to be all that you are or can be. You are just a human person.
