I saw your post where you were responding to an ask about how if Ultron had worked, T*ny would have had the power of life and death over the planet ("So why is that good, and Steve "ignoring the will of 117 countries" is bad? Because T*ny?") and you said the implications were terrifying and he'd always been "an authoritarian prick, CW wasn’t him having a change of heart". I don't know if you've been spoiled for FFH, but lmao damn you were prescient about T*ny feeling exempt from the rules.
I haven't watched the movie and I've only vaguely read the spoilers...but I heard he created some kind of a personal drone army? And then handed it to a child?
What happened to "If we can't accept limitations we are no better than the bad guys"? What happened to "Ultron, my fault"? Why is this character such a badly written mess?

oof i was rewatching bp and tws and like. for a few beautiful hours i was able to forget the horrors of aou and cacw and basically all the bs that came after,, i didn't even have to rmbr tonky stank existed?? bring those movies bACK please!!!
This but tws resurrected Barfy so I can't even watch that now. It's weird because I can watch TFA and even enjoy Bucky's character there no problem. Russo Bucket on the other hand is so punchable to me now...he really is just a slightly battered blank slate in a bad wig.

If Tony Stark were the Donald Trump of the MCU then the Arc Reactor and Iron Man suits would have never worked
He's Donald Trump's self insert obviously. That's why his tech works and his brain doesn't. That can only happen in fiction. Since it's wish fulfillment.

Aaand finally we've reached the stage where, APPARENTLY, Peggy is no longer to be considered a well-written character (outside the AC-show); she's just "red lipstick and jealousy" and "just there to give Steve semi-motivational speeches". At least she made a greater impact on the narrative than Bucket, who might as well have been replaced by Steve's childhood teddy bear and not much would've changed.
“red lipstick and jealousy” sounds so hot though. I love that Hayley Atwell’s hotness comes through even when people are trying to insult her. The burdens of being utterly, panty-droppingly gorgeous.
But yeah she did make a bigger impact on the narrative than Bucket. Replace Bucket with anyone else and Steve would have been forced to make the same choices he did and come to their rescue. Peggy has a place in the narrative that no other character can replace.

“There’s a void that they each fill for each other, and I think they’ve each kind of had to face a little bit of, like, a destruction of a belief system along the way. They’ve each leaned on one another for different reasons. I think in a lot of ways Cap certainly looks up to Black Widow. She’s always been a little wiser, a little more experienced, a little more callused in the way the world really is… I think in the past couple of years, before we pick up in this film, they’ve really kind of become this rock for one another.” - Chris Evans.

Tony Stark is the Donald Trump of the MCU fight me
I've been saying this!! Since forever!! That's why they gave Tony a tower! It's very on the nose but a lot of people still didn't make that connection. Plus there's the lying and the weird ability where he's the only fool who ends up believing his own lies, the 1% way of living etc etc.

I wouldn't mind Bucky in another Cap movie but for the stans. I like Bucky's character in the movies, I like his familial relationship with Steve. I feel like he and Sam (and Nat when she was alive) will always have Steve's back no matter what. It's the Bucky (and Tony) stans who ruin the character by making *everything* about Bucky.
That's fair. Whatever good opinion I have of Bucky is also only because his existence makes Steve happy. So I'm like ok you can live I guess.
But on the other hand, the character himself is so... insubstantial that the fuckallery of his fans end up colouring all my opinions of him. Since it's very difficult to like him independently, just for himself. If you're not into self-inserting that is.
So...yeah...I never want to see him in another movie again just so his fans can die mad about it.

tbh? I'm also over the Steve fans who don't have a ship at stake and act like they're so impartial in their bad faith readings. That act like the character is ruined beyond repair bc things didn't go exactly like their narrow version of acceptable ending allows and make it an objective argument. Don't like it fine, can't like the character anymore bc of it, okay, just...Leave?? it's not that hard, idgi
Oh yeah...I've experienced first hand the ones you're talking about. I think they're kinda dumb tbh. Because they're the only ones who actually don't have any shipping/anti agenda involved in this mess. And they're still equating the character with the plot he was given. So plot = bad therefore character also = bad apparently. Absolutely wild.

kakskskdd I've seen this gifset floating around and, no lie, I thought they were saying Tony is a liar. And I was like "good post!". Should have known any post by a Stony shipper could only ever be pro- Tony and anti - Steve.
But like... this gifset only makes sense if you're calling Tony a liar. "I needed you"...then why in fucks name didn't you call. Why did you lock up your team in a black site and leave Steve to clean up that mess? Why were you, a criminal under the accords, chilling in your billion dollar mansion while Steve was branded a fugitive under the same accords? Why the fuck did you push everyone away and hunt them if you needed them?
"we lost and you weren't there"...Tony was the only one who wasn't there...that is...he's literally spouting bald faced lies and no one's stopping him. Steve and everyone lost on earth. Tony and dr. Strange and a kid weren't there.
And that shit with the Arc reactor. What even is that. Uwu Cap broke your billion dollar weapon of mass destruction because you were literally trying to murder an innocent man? How sad. Poor middle aged billionaire orphan. Yes please hand it over. Entitled, unstable, over privileged douchebags deserve to own weapons like that far less than Cap deserves his giant metal dinner plate.
Liar.

"Steve is selfish for creating a whole new timeline just to be with Peggy"
is such a uniquely stupid argument. Please explain to me the logic behind the assumption that there's something inherently terrible about the creation of a new timeline.

One of my favourite things about Endgame is how it wrecked even the semblance of the relationships between Tony and other characters his fans wanted to see.
Ironstrange? Strange was setting Tony up to die all along.
Winteriron? Did Bucky even know Tony died? Lol
Stony? Steve was off trying to better the world while Tony hid in his lake house and only contacted Tony when he absolutely had to for world saving reasons.
Irondad? Tony didn't want to save Peter. He was chilling in his lake house with his actual daughter and had to be persuaded to help reverse the snap that killed Peter.
Tony/Rhodey? Rhodey, Tony's best friend, has been happily interacting with and working with Steve and the rest of his team since Infinity war. And Rhodey's the one who tells Tony to cool it when he starts ranting like a two-bit villain about the pros of murderbots and the cons of people's precious freedoms.
Literally the only person who gives a shit about Tony by the end of this movie is Pepper and that's because she's contractually obligated to lmfao.

I didn't get it. Why does it say bug spray on the bottle behind Steve?
asfafhkl... Steve's going to spray the beetle that Cleopatra bit herself with (when she committed suicide) dead. And then maybe spray Augustus too.
Sorry anon! That was a shittier edit than my usual fare.

Lmao most of these movie bashers are actually just attaching themselves to every tiny detail that the movie didn't explain to show that they're ~movie hating~ but they're all so damn transparent. Let's hate on catws too then. Like why didn't they show us team cap stealing the wings, why didn't they show us how people reacted Boohoo look at all these plot holes I've found bc I'm a lazy asshat. They dumb. And not as subtle as they think they are.

I am not character bashing I am MOVIE bashing, because a better movie would have ended without those worst possible light readings as possibilities
Bullshit. You're character bashing and trying to pass it off as movie bashing now that you've been backed into a corner.
The movie wasn't very good sure but that's not because it left open the possibility for you to interpret things in the worst light possible. No movie is bad for that reason because no movie is made with the assumption that the audience is going to watch it in bad faith and assign the worst possible motives to its characters.
Because it's possible to interpret anything and everything in bad faith if you so choose. For instance I could say that in the 2 years between TWS and Civil War, Bucky actually ran back to HYDRA because it was a blank period!! Anything could have happened!! Bucky probably missed the familiarity of working for HYDRA!! Why else would he not contact Steve and help Steve hunt down the rest of HYDRA!! Gasp!! Galaxy brain!!
Get it? You're not supposed to interpret media and characters in the worst light you could think of when other interpretations are possible. Normally, people don't interpret their media in the worst possible light. It's only happening here to Steve because people are salty about Steve not validating their ships.
#~i'm movie bashing~#you really thought that was a winning argument#when I have said 20 times that I didn't like the ending either#if that common ground exists and you still think there's something to argue here#that says something about what you're actually bashing#anyway#i'm done with this pointless argument#direct your asks to someone who cares#and that's certainly not me
