Alright, okay, so here’s the deal: time in Abyss moves a different way. Oz was in the Abyss for like what, maybe an hour or two, but moved 10 years to the future. It’s literally almost the same as time travelling. If you are 20 from 2015 and time travel to 2030, are you 35? Not really, as far as my time travelling knowledge goes. So yes anon, he hasn’t lived the 10 years, therefore he isn’t 25 (part of the reason I’m kind of ‘uhhh’ at the alcohol drinking scene with Oscar and everyone, but then again they had an adult looking after them so they wouldn’t do anything crazy anime excluded). Good on you for asking!

I am honestly tired of this fandom. When I first entered it, I immediately found a lot of friends and it was so fun. Eventually the trickle of new people stopped, but I never thought much about it. Years passed and I  lost contact with most people, and had to retreat from this fandom for a while. I guess I should’ve known, coming back much more educated and matured some bit, that I would find some faults that I didn’t think too much of before. But what I see now is just a place that excuses pedo/philia, inces/t and often even puts it in a positive light. There are many more faults, such as neverending ship and character hates, but that is not avoidable in any fandom at all. But this fandom’s stubborn insistence to never grow at all almost as if they want to be left behind honestly disturbs me.

I no longer feel comfortable creating content for it nor, honestly, even try to somehow help make it better. A lot of people who knew better have already left it or at least estranged themselves to it, and I guess it’s about time I did the same. I’m not famous or anything, but at least some may care enough to read this.

I have moved to another blog, so I guess this is last call for any of my mutuals who I have talked to before- you can send me a message asking for my new url if you want. Though I guess those who wanted it already did.

I do not feel comfortable with you repeating what you said over, because you could not put your opinion past ‘we do not know what’s okay or not’. The same could be said for incest, and I am sure the fandom would surely jump excitedly at defending it the same way you defended pedophilia just now.

Also, don’t include queer people into this, don’t bring them down to the same level. That is at most disgusting and wrong. It’s also the same tactic white/straight/cis people use in order to evade the critique they receive by saying ‘if you changed x to ‘jews’ wouldn’t you sound horrible!?’ It is not the same and it will never be.

Hm, I think what’s more prevalent in the Western Media are the sexualization of minors, and it’s not even as controlled as it is in Japan whereas most of that doesn’t venture outside the media. Meanwhile here, where 20+ year olds are cast to play teens and most of the “female” population is subjected to daily harassment, it is a much more discussed topic. Too bad it’s hard to get anywhere on both fronts. I expected that too honestly, I even planned out my answer. Weird I still haven;t received anons. But this is similar to my last controversial post about the girls of ph, everyone’s quick to defend japanese media. Honestly you’re not much of a fan if you can’t admit the problems of the story.

Yes, that is true! Anime and manga alike often portray such relationships as alright or try to evade actually admitting it by making a childish-looking character actually be hundreds or thousands of years old (mostly seen in vampire genres and such). The lolico.n and shotaco.n genres are also super popular and therefore have been seen as completely fine up until recently in the entire anime/manga society, and it’s still hard to convince everyone who grew up with it that it is morally wrong. I think it is also because the society pressures teens to grow up faster in order to be seen as someone worthy of an opinion. But you can’t just earn the experiences you gain throughout the years from another person. It’s important to treasure yourself and grow as a person, which the adult side of the relationship has already somewhat done.

Honestly, your very first sentence is already problematic on its own. Do you understand that you're saying a pedophilic relationship is 'interesting' and 'ambiguous'?

Alright, I may not rant long enough, but first of all, you need to understand this: if a person, who is 18 or older, engages a person who is younger than 18 and forms a relationship with them, is a pedophile. The story that Pandora Hearts is set in is obviously somewhere older than the 19th century at least, which is when the very term was established. It is also a century where women did not have any rights and a lot of more, so to say, "ambiguous" things happened. This is exactly why the fact that Oz is considered "of age" should not at least influence this at all, because it is not that century people that are reading it. We are in the 21st century, where such a thing is illegal and punishable by law.

Do you realize that I am saying this because it is not okay to normalize such a relationship? First of all, there is a certain percental rate to the relationship thing going on: the more you age, the bigger the gap can be. It is perfectly fine if people who are older to form relationships with each other. What's not okay is to say it's perfectly fine for a child to have such a gap between themselves and an adult.

The line where you said it woud be illegal is what set it from where you're already justifying it. If it's illegal, it's not justifiable. There are kids Oz's age who can also think they are in love with the older person, and the older person might think so too. If the adult would genuinely care though, they would at least wait, which is also at the very least flawed. The adult themselves, were they to find themselves in love with a teenager, are at fault. The argument which could come up in such sentences as "but what if it's true love?", "they care about them though!" are not acceptable. A minor's safety is first priority over everything else.

Oz is a smart boy, but no matter how intelligent or experienced he is, he cannot make up for the time he has not yet lived. There are many teens who fall into this trap, and later on suffer from ptsd and similar consequences. Such a relationship is not on equal grounds, nor will it ever be no matter the circumstances. If their love is so strong, they can afford to wait at least the few years they need and test the strength of it along the way.

The bar is already set low enough at 18. A relationship between a minor and an adult is not healthy no matter what. It's not unusual, as you say. If someone is genuinely interested in them being in a relationship, they may as well write it when it's not under the bare minimum of 18.

I am not a native English as well, so you may or may not find some mistakes here as well. Please consider my viewpoint of this, because it's super important that this fandom accepts these facts and stops thinking it's alright.
