🚫 THIS BLOG IS TAKING PART IN THE ANTI-CENSORSHIP PROTEST ON DECEMBER 17th 🚫
The owner of this Blog will be making as much noise at Tumblr Staff about how horrible this ban in on other sites such as Twitter or Facebook.
The owner of this blog will be logging out of all accounts for the entirety of the 17th. Will Not run a queue. Will not even check the dash. Or give the money hungry executives a single page view to squeeze ad revenue out of
The owner of this blog believes in an ACTUAL positive, better, safer Tumblr and well be doing their part to fight for it by logging out on the 17th of December.

Yes, Virginia, Tumblr is important for all those other reasons and also...
There is a particular take on the destruction of Tumblr that I keep waiting for someone to write, but no one has yet. Which means I apparently need to do it myself.
The take is, essentially, that not only should adults have access to adult content – in itself, valid and true – but also it is important to cultivate SOME social spaces where the overtly/explicitly sexual overlap with the non-sexual. (Not all spaces; I still think it should be illegal to have sex on the sidewalk. But SOME spaces that enable the sexual and the non-sexual to exist side-by-side)
Part of what I think leads to the dehumanization of sex (and subsequently allows the stigma and shame to cling so heavily to it) is the complete bifurcation of life into SEX and EVERYTHING ELSE and never the twain shall meet. When we – at every turn – put all aspects of human life into one sphere, and sex into another, we dehumanize it. We remove the full subjectivity of people from it, which is a problem.
I think we need to actively cultivate spaces LIKE before-time!Tumblr where we can be people, and talk about what happened at work today, and the funny thing our dog did, and how our parents make us crazy during the holidays, and how dare they do X thing on Supernatural, and here’s a great version of that distracted boyfriend meme, and ALSO be able to talk about being horny on main, as the saying goes, and find the right porn clip to fap to. Or post nude selfies. Or hunt down that sweet, sweet NSFW Symbrock fanart.
Having spaces where the explicitly sexual and the non-sexual overlap is important to humanizing sex and, subsequently, de-stigmatizing it (which, it should go without saying, is particularly salient for marginalized people who often suffer way more heavily from sexual stigma)

Good morning! I’m salty.
I think we, as a general community, need to start taking this little moment more seriously.
This, right here? This is asking for consent. It’s a legal necessity, yes, but it is also you, the reader, actively consenting to see adult content; and in doing so, saying that you are of an age to see it, and that you’re emotionally capable of handling it.
You find the content you find behind this warning disgusting, horrifying, upsetting, triggering? You consented. You said you could handle it, and you were able to back out at any time. You take responsibility for yourself when you click through this, and so long as the creator used warnings and tags correctly, you bear full responsibility for its impact on you.
“Children are going to lie about their age” is probably true, but that’s the problem of them and the people who are responsible for them, not the people that they lie to.
If you’re not prepared to see adult content, created by and for adults, don’t fucking click through this. And if you do, for all that’s holy, don’t blame anyone else for it.

From someone who’s survived MySpace, livejournal, deviantart, and fanfiction.nets’ content purges and bad policy updates, here’s some advice on how to get through tumblr’s recent bullshit:
- don’t knee jerk delete. I know it’s tempting to peace out immediately but hang on and do the other steps first. Out right ghosting and erasing everything is how fandoms die.
- archive everything on your blog you want to keep
- tell your followers how they can archive and keep your work too. A lot of fic and art were only saved from ff.net and lj because other people saved it first. If you’re cool with other people saving your work for them to personally keep, let them know this. You can absolutely discourage reposting but I really do highly recommend you allow people to personally save fic and art they like and are worried will disappear forever. Digital Dark Ages are a real thing.
- tell people where you’re jumping ship to. Give links. Keep that info up, even if you’ve left the site.
- go through who you follow and find out where else you can follow them. Save their work if they’ll allow it. It’s tedious as hell but if you want to keep up with people on here clicking on their page to check in is the best way to do it.
- support places like ao3. This is exactly why ao3 asks for donations a few times a year. They are a 100% anti-purging, judgement free, ad free non profit run by an elected board and protected by lawyers. Places like ao3 literally save fandom so please continue to support them and other similar archives. This is exactly why ao3 is so important.

I’m on Pillowfort!
Hey all, so I officially have an account over on Pillowfort! Same name, halekingsourwolf. The site’s ironing out a few issues at the moment, but once it’s back up I’ll be transferring fics over for safekeeping. From there on I’m not entirely sure what I’ll be doing –– I’ll still be posting Sterek content, but I might start mixing a few other fandoms in there, or get into posting original content as well.
Come find me over there if you like, I’d love to see you all <3

Are you going to be leaving Tumblr entirely? A lot of people seem to be planning on leaving and I'm not sure if that's a good idea. Doesn't it kind of seem like giving up?
Hey anon :) No, I’m not planning on leaving Tumblr completely/deleting my account. But I also don’t think that exploring other options is the same thing as giving up.
This is the way I see things right now. Most of us in fandom are really unhappy with Tumblr’s change in policy, but if we stay here and keep doing what we’ve been doing, business as usual –– if we just stop posting NSFW content but keep on being as active as we’ve always been –– the signal we’re sending is basically that we’re ok with it. I don’t know how Tumblr’s algorithms work, but most sites are based off of traffic and activity, right? So if Tumblr’s traffic stays the same in the aftermath of this change, that’s a signal that we’re fine with it, or fine enough. But if Tumblr’s traffic drops dramatically, they might start reconsidering their choices and adjust their policies.
I’m not proposing an official boycott, and I’m not saying that people who keep using Tumblr as usual are doing anything wrong, but if we do want to make a statement that the change in policy isn’t ok, maybe we should consider staying off Tumblr on the 17th, or the week of the 17th, or just looking for other platforms in general, because we can make all the angry posts we want, but I don’t think they’re going to hear us unless the numbers change.
And just in general, with the way things are going, setting up a backup blog on a place like Pillowfort and/or backing up your content in general might be a good plan. We don’t know what they might decide to pull next and I don’t want anyone being caught off guard and losing any content. Better to be safe.
Social media sites rise and fall, and looking for a more welcoming environment at this point could be a good idea, just in case

Do you ever, like, respond your asks? Not judging, I’m genuinely curious bc I sent several asks ages ago and never got an answer
I’m so sorry, sweetheart. I’m in no way trying to ignore you, or anyone. I honestly have only been on this blog maybe half a dozen times this whole year, to help promote a friend and then to try and get a queue going a couple of times when I could manage it. I haven’t really been in my inbox or involved in fandom or anything.
On a personal note –– and this veers into depression territory, so warning –– anyone who’s followed me for any length of time has probably seen that I’m an absolute, spiraling mess. The past few years have been really rough and I’ve kind of reduced down to a ball of paralyzed self-loathing. Like... not working, not socializing, not managing anything productive, and just basically hiding out from the world because I very rarely have the confidence to inflict myself on anyone, and that includes you guys.
And, understandably, that’s killed my creative outlets too.
So... I know this isn’t good news, and probably not what anyone wants to see on their dash, but there’s the explanation for the long absence, and for any messages I may have missed. I’m so sorry guys, please don’t think I don’t appreciate them or that I’m snubbing you.
To end this on a potentially positive note, I’m moving at the start of next week. I don’t know if that’ll help, but getting into a new living situation will at least shake me out of my rut, and maybe that will be a start toward something better. As long as I can figure out some way to make money, and find the confidence to... speak to people.
But... sorry. Positive.
I hope you’re all doing well, I wish the best for every one of my beautiful followers

AU: And then, BAM!!! Sterek is canon.
Stiles: I don’t know… a- a spark, a twisted connection between you and me. A freaking invisible thread pulling us together. I don’t know, OK! I just feel something… more. And I know that you do too. Stiles: Are you even hearing what I’m saying? Derek: Yes. Stiles: Yes to what? You’re hearing me? Or that you do feel something? ……… Derek: Yes. To both.
