how/what do you use to edit sprites?
I make all of my sprite edits on my laptop in Photoshop, using a drawing tablet. But Photoshop is expensive, so that's definitely not the best option, it's just what I happen to have. There is a free program that's very similar to Photoshop called Photopea that I've heard about, but I've never tried it myself so I can't exactly recommend it. I don't think the program matters hugely, as long as it has layers, you can draw in it, and also select parts of the image to move around.
Aside from that, the only interesting thing I use aside from default brushes in a texture overlay (if I'm drawing new things or covering up part of the sprite), since Danganronpa sprites have a slight texture to them. I don't have a specific one I normally use, it depends on the sprite, but if you Google "Danganronpa sprite texture overlay" there are a bunch of options. It just makes anything you add match the rest of the sprite better.
