So the landlord sold the house I rent at without saying a word...and now I need help.

I currently live in San Diego, California where my city has been in purple tier for Coronavirus cases for months. It's scary shit. And at one point, last November, I had the virus but managed to weather it. Small blessings, right? But the big blessing was that I had a roof over my head and food in my belly. Enter: shitty landlord.

Shitty landlord sold my blessing for pennies to another shittier landlord. Without telling us. That is illegal. And I could fight it-except my name is not on any official paperwork for the house. And since the person who is on the paperwork has another place to stay, they don't care to fight it. I'm fucked.

So now I must pack my shit ASAP and venture out into Coronaland. I have a safe place to land for awhile, I just need money.

In exchange for money help, I would like to offer my tarot services. I do excellent, precise, and transformative tarot readings for people. I consider it one of the reasons I'm even alive; to provide a mirror for people in order to help them see a solution/gain clarity on whatever it is that's vexing them. ☆ July 31st, 2019: New Moon in Leo/Conjunct Venus in Leo 

Oh hey, it’s Alizar back at it again with the astro!blahs. ♡ I took a hiatus due to real life circumstances (depression) but lately? I’ve felt well enough to break down the celestial conversation that we have every time the solar system does a thing. Not only do I feel well enough…but very recently, in the past few days, I’ve come to recognize that rambling about astrology is part of who I am. It’s something I shouldn’t doubt the value of, minimalize, or (worse yet) stop talking about due to criticism. And it’s one of the things that makes me shine!

If any of you out there in the Tumblrverse big mood to my above sentiment, then you’re most definitely feeling the beginning notes of this new moon. It’s a particularly powerful one. It’ll be much needed tonic for us after the two eclipses we just had. Particularly the solar eclipse in Cancer (which rattled and shook the first week of July) that had a lot of us changing up our living situations and comfort zones in a big way. The eclipses were cool and nessecary-but let’s be honest, the new moon in Leo is the star of July. So without further ado, I’m going to break down this diva of a lunation for y'all.

New Moon in Leo Summary: Venus has cast off being in super sensitive mom!friend mode (the sign of Cancer) to dazzle us in the sign of exuberant Leo. But that’s not all, folks! The planet of love, beauty, and relationships has decided to team up with the New Moon-who is also in the sign of Leo-and with their powers combined (conjuncted), they’re forming Captain Planet to shine the limelight onto new beginnings in the realms of:

♡Self-love, self-worth, creativity, personal energy, and our relationship with ourselves.

We are the celebrities of this New Moon show. And it’s time for a make-over fit for a diva.

Like I was mentioning before, we’ll become more focused on what makes us ☆shine☆ as the 31st approaches. Aaand we might become a little self-absorbed and carried away with that shine. Venus conjunct with the Moon (in any sense) is all about “the good life”. This astrological aspect will have us wanting to celebrate, to have good things, eat good food, and be social. That, in of itself, sounds great! Right? Right, Tumblr?

Right, well. Here’s the twisty twist:

The New Moon and Venus in Leo is squaring Uranus, so…we’ll most likely want to buy all the things (so watch your budget!), throw ourselves a party, and shake up the routine we’ve been keeping. Or fly away from it entirely. Especially within our relationships/friendships. Particularly if there’s no thrill in it for you anymore. (And by no thrill, I mean it’s become flat with inauthenticity and restriction) Doubly triply so if things in the sack with your partner have grown stale or automated. If your partner won’t oblige something new or at least try, you might be tempted to run off and scratch that itch for excitement/stimulation elsewhere. Impulsivity and indulgence are keywords here. But so is discovery!

The positive aspect of Uranus (in Taurus) squaring Venus and the New Moon (in Leo) is an energy that brings sudden revelation and change to our personal relationships. Especially the biggest relationship we’ll ever have: the one we maintain with ourselves. Have you lately felt stuck living in a role that’s super rigid and has long since past it’s expiration date??? Uranus in Taurus specializes in throwing your metaphorical spoiled milk away and replacing it with something way better. Via the impulsivity muse that this Uranus Square will provide, July 31st will be an inspired moment where we can recreate ourselves again by realizing/learning something new about ourselves.

Use that indulgent impulsivity as your roadmap. Let it guide you to new horizons in your life. Just…remember to be safe with your impulsive decisions and exercise some patience with yourself/others while doing it. Everyone else is having their “aha!” moments too. This New Moon is having us focus on figuring ourselves out more than anything so try to be considerate of everyone else who is doing the same. You’ll get more of a chance to show off that new you on the Full Moon in August.

Perhaps this new discovery about yourself is a knowledge you’ve always been skirting around but have never fully accepted in your heart for one reason or another. Maybe accepting that knowledge came with a responsibility we weren’t ready for? Or a pain that was just too uncomfortable? The asteroid Chiron (the wounded healer) is trining this New Moon and will be sucking out the poison of denial that keeps us blind to whatever revelations Uranus throws at us. We can either come to accept the truth of our feelings and allow change, this personal revelation, to heal us…or struggle against our own emotions only to hurt ourselves in confusion like so many Pokemons.

It’s time to own up to our real feelings. About ourselves. And stop being complacent in allowing our feelings to own us rather than the other way around.

Chiron is going to make you extra sensitive and aware of the wound that needs fixing. You won’t be able to ignore that hurt. Which, in this case, is your prolonged (possibly willful) resistance towards accepting the change in yourself/your relationships with others that this New Moon will catalyze. The best thing you can do on the 31st is to allow this fire moon to work it’s magic and burn away the old you…then open your arms wide to the change in your life that happens the moment you let go.

So to wrap up this summary: the New Moon on the 31st is a “new phone, who dis?” moment where, by accepting an emotional truth we’ve long withheld, we’ll come to a new understanding of ourselves that’ll spark a change in our lives. And open a door to a new beginning. Resisting that acceptance will only bring us more pain and restriction in the future. It will also make the alterations that Uranus intends to zap our social circles with that much harder to handle. Allow yourself (and others) the opportunity of getting to know who you really are again. Or more like, who you always have been deep down inside. Follow that crazy hunch! Chase the white rabbit of your hidden eccentricity! Take yourself out on a date. Romance yourself. Do something new (or that you’ve always wanted to try) and exciting…especially in your relationships! Welcome a change of behavior. It’ll be the key you need come the start of 2020.

I’ve drawn a Tarot card to help give additional insight into this New Moon in Leo. What the deck spat out at me was the “Transformation” card (I’m using the Goddess deck btw). Pretty straight forward. Embrace the change. Allow the New Moon to transform you and your relationships. Don’t hold on to the old ways or old connections that don’t honor the person you are today.

☆ The Venus/Sun conjunction in Leo is only gonna get sexier and more extra from now until late August. Our social circles are gonna get lit up. Our love lives will expand. Our creativity will be on some next-level solar fire. And depending on how much self-restraint we have, we could end up with a fuller wallet, or an emptier one after this conjunction party is done. But this doesn’t just apply to money, it also applies to all matters of abundance as well. Have fun but make sure to remember the spiritual bills need to get paid in Virgo season!

☆ This is a potent day for all artists, psychics, writers, dancers, and anyone who uses any ounce of creativity in their craft…or in their life. The muses will be dancing to the tune of this New Moon. If you follow along with the beat, you might just revive that old project, or break that nasty writer’s block of yours. Be receptive to whatever inspirations you have on the 31st! It’s sure to pay off.

☆ Saturn in Capricorn (no fun discipline daddy) is in the 12th House of death, sleep, fears, and the subconscious mind. Meanwhile, the North Node in Cancer (that feeling of finding where our true home/place is) is sitting in the 6th House…the place where all work, routines, organization, and service is jurisdicted. It’s also the place that rules over health concerns. That being said, this New Moon will be bringing up how our subconscious limitations that we place upon ourselves keep us from being healthy, working towards our goals, and make us uncomfortable within our own environment. Or more to the point, make us uncomfortable within our own skins.

☆ Neptune in Pisces Trine the North Node has us dreaming of a future unrestricted by perceived limitations that Saturn throws at us. We might think these limitations come from outside of us but with Saturn in the 12th house, all those limitations are actually self-inflicted. And an extension of our own self-harm. Allow the supernatual vision of Neptune in Pisces to loosen your ideas of what can and cannot be. Be flexible with your perceived limits. The future you is an endless possibility. Just be aware that this energy is also prone to escapism and intoxication via it’s vivid imagination. So use this astrological energy as a scrying pool but don’t get too caught up in the future vision and forget that there’s real work to be done in the now.

☆ Mood swing alert! With Uranus Squaring the New Moon, we might get a little testy, and flakey. We’ll be fluctuating emotionally. We’ll be chasing anything new and shiny…especially if that means a new person or situation that looks super appealing on the outside. This astrological aspect might have us prone to outbursts and running away from anything too emotionally demanding on us-like spooky scary personal commitments. If you’ve made a plan with someone on the 31st, don’t be surprised if it spontaneously falls through…unless that someone and you are keeping it interesting. Uranus Squaring the New Moon also bucks against any and all traditions. It needs CONSTANT change. This is a key factor in the personal revelation that will be handed to us this New Moon. We might find ourselves (surprised) bucking against our own self-perpetuated traditions.

☆ The New Moon is sandwiched between two very prominent stars in the Cancer constellation called “the Aselli”. Also known classically as Ascellus Borealis and Ascellus Australis who are nicknamed “The Northern and Southern Donkeys”. In Greek mythology it is said that Dionysus and Vulcan rode these beasts into battle against the Titans. The donkey’s braying and hooves made such a clamor that it scared the Titans off, back further into the Cancer constellation, where the Titans became the star cluster called “the Beehive” (Praesaepe). In astrology, the Aselli involved with any celestial event, are said to enhance aggressive impatience. And moodiness. So if you think those Cancer vibes are over? Whelp, we got one more hoop to jump through before the crab will let us scuttle away. Don’t let the Aselli make an ass out of you, haaaa! Get it? Yeah, puns are terrible.

☆ The Beehive cluster (Praesaepe) being involved in this New Moon is the most interesting and symbolic detail of this whole article. While the Greeks say that the cluster is a bunch of cowering Titans, the Chinese believe in something completely different. In their culture, the Beehive cluster represents humanity’s ancestors. It is said that this group of stars, aligned with any astrological event, gives one spiritual access to the realm of the dead so one may learn from the wisdom of those who’ve gone before us. But because the Universe likes to keep it spicy, the New Moon is Squaring Uranus, and old traditions aren’t being valued in the grand scheme of self-expression. What we have then is the exact scene from Mulan where, by rejecting the tradition laid out for her by the ancestors to follow her heart, Mulan brought honor to her ancestors in the end. We are being called to break away from old traditions, become radically ourselves, and by doing so…honor our ancestors. Both genetic ancestors, humanity’s ancestors, and our spiritual ancestors.

☆ As an additional aside, the Beehive cluster was thought to be a gateway called the “Pushya Nakshatra” in Hindu belief. And that the human soul descends to the mortal plane and back to the heavens through this gateway in the Cancer constellation in much the same way a crab can go back and forth from the waters of the sea onto the soil of the land. This being the case, our New Moon in Leo might be a perfect time to do some transpersonal necromancy, and bring back an aspect of ourselves that has been dead. Another suggestion for magic on this day would be any sort of astral work as moving between altered states of being/consciousness will be extra easy to do on the 31st.

☆ There are two Yods (fingers of Fate) formed by Neptune, Pluto, and Saturn. They are all pointing to Mars in Leo on the New Moon. This implies that some personal action will be taken on the 31st. Since Mars in Leo is in it’s 19th degree and in the 7th House this action will most likely revolve around:

-Partnerships. Especially your identity within a relationship. Emphasis on marriages.

-Following your inner genius to get the nectar/sweetest possible result. It might even feel like the call of destiny.

Most hellhounds, using the term broadly, serve one deity or another. There are variations in breed much like mortal dogs, and “hellhound” is a rather imprecise term as it has connotations of one specific religion.

They are usually psychopompic, associated with death, serving such roles as guarding the land of the dead, either keeping the dead in or the living out, or retrieving wayward souls.

The Greek version is among the oldest, but if there is a specific term in Greek I’ve never been able to find it. Generally just “Hounds of Haides” as most are the servants/pets of the lord of the Underworld, mostly bred by Hekate, who is the Hellenic patron goddess of hounds and almost always accompanied by them.

I’m sure food offerings would be appreciated. Mostly meat, though I understand pastries and honey also go over well. There’s a myth which mentions Kerberos being subdued by means of drugged oat cakes.

But first and foremost your priority should probably finding out who this hound serves and speaking with them, because it sounds like they have an interest in you.

The Black Hound of Hades

First major post in quite a while, but it looks like the stars are aligned so here we are! I have a bit of a story to tell about some dream encounters and a potential familiar/spirit ally that has appeared, let’s get into this:

It starts as it usually does, with a dream, the halls of a museum, a collection of undersea fossils, bejewelled skulls and skeletons of strange serpentine creatures. Then a woman with black hair, recognise her, though who she is I can’t say. She hands me some paper with a symbol drawn upon it. Soon the dream fades and morning steals it’s way in, I find some paper and draw the symbol before it fades from my mind.

Night returns once again. This time I meditate on the symbol before I retire, this time I am face to face with a wall of ice, encased within are animals, of a sort. the most prominent being a large dog, with charred flesh visible through bare patches in its mangy black fur, In place of a living head is instead a skull. Whether through my intervention or another’ the ice melts, setting the dog and other animals free, a skull faced rat weaves it’s way through a church while I try and catch it, as it passes the rows of church pews, people start to throw coins into the collection box I now hold.

From there the dream fades and I am left with more questions than answers. As is the way of these things synchronicity was quick to answer and arouse my suspicions.  allusions to the realm of Hades in readings. The dead pigeons that appear with alarming regularity after my workings; the rat skull found near a source of limestone fossils. Descriptions of hell hounds including charred flesh, something I’ve never seen or heard of as being a common descriptor.

So I currently have a seal that either is or can call a hell-hound (or a variant thereof). I suppose I need to start digging deeper and figuring out what I can do to verify my theories and start developing more of a connection. 

As I sit and ponder the seal during meditation, a thought occurs: I could do with preparing a suitable vessel In case I can form a relationship with this being. Then the pieces click into place: the undersea museum with the fossils of the long dead (or never living if you want to get Cthulhu about it), the rat skull. My current living situation and financial status is somewhat limiting, but I do paint and customise miniatures as a hobby: I can construct a vessel using  the body of a plastic dog model or toy, remove the head and use the rat skull in it’s place. This adds a somewhat chimeric element (probably not a word, sorry) to the vessel, but the spirit appeared as a rat so it seems fitting.

Now the choice of plastic as a vessel seems somewhat non-traditional especially going by picatrix standards, however I feel like it fits perfectly: plastic is made from oil (hopefully mineral oil in my case), which is itself made from ancient plant and animal matter that has changed under high-pressures over long periods of time. creating a vessel for something that is at least cthonic if not an actual hell-hound out of a substance made from the bones of long dead plants and animals seems sufficiently necromantic in my eyes, am I wrong?

Anyways this has been quite a long one, let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions.

Probably my favourite permutation of the Headless Rite, the upwelling of synchronicity i get from this is impressively high.

Preparation: Headless Rite

1. The only real requirements is a piece of paper or parchment on which to write the words of power:

AŌTH ABRAŌTH BASYM ISAK SABAŌTH IAŌ 2. Be clean. Be in a space that is clean. (Optional if you are doing this someplace atmospheric like an abandoned train tunnel. Whatever floats your boat.) 3. As for candles and incense, these are largely theatrical. Use new candles if you are going to have any and probably stick to frankincense. For the Four Kings component, if you are performing this outside, I recommend some rum to pour out as an offering. If this is unachievable, then carry the incense with you to each quarter. 4. Locate the constellation Orion. I use one of the many available stargazing apps for this. Even during the daytime, just wave your phone around pointing at the ground until you find it. If anything, having the stars under the earth is more appropriate anyway. You will perform the rite in the direction of Orion.

The Headless Rite

Face north, touch your left temple and then your right temple with the parchment, and read aloud what is written on it six times:

At this point, move to face east and continue on with the invocation of the Four Kings. It is worth mentioning that you can effectively cut the performance into two completely separate standalone rituals at this juncture. I use a variant of the Four Kings ritual below as part of my regular offering practice (more on that in later chapters). If you have rum, pour out a quarter of it as you begin the invocation, otherwise take the joss stick or censer with you as you perambulate the directions.

I invoke the Four Kings of the four corners of the earth. Most noble and ancient spirits, be with me now. O Eastern Oriens, most shining, most excellent King, who reigns over and commands the Eastern Regions, whose Kingdom began with the founding of the world and shall endure until the end of All Things. Turn around and face west. Pour out some rum. Continue.

O Thou Paymon, King most glorious, who holds powerful dominion in the Western Regions of the Heavens. Paymons, I conjure thee, by the virtue and power of the Creator, and by the virtue of virtues.

Turn back to the north, pour some rum, and continue.

O Thou Ariton, King most strong, whose Mighty Empire reaches into the cold regions of the North. Don't turn back

Walking through dimly lit streets at night to the chosen place. The effect of your decision changes things, even before you've called out for said change. The steeples of that chosen place are shrouded by the night, yet from within the bells peal a song of praise. They seem discordant to you now, in light of your decision.

You return to the place where it began, with history as your mantle and the stars as your torch; and yet, as you round that corner to reach the appointed place the song ceases and the dark encloses the stars themselves. Looking into the corners of that holy place you feel the stares that the grotesques cast from the dark, aware of what you will bring. At your feet sits an iron grill, now a cage keeping the dark at bay. The inky blackness that peers forth quickens your pulse. You drop your message into the abyss, clap thrice and call out.

The stars shine bright once again.

Urban Iridescence - Dealings with City Spirits part 1.

So I've never really done something like this before but thought I'd try something new, I'm going to start sharing some stories of my encounters with the intelligences of our modern urban abodes; cities. This first part is a prelude to how I think with these sorts of concepts.

So cities, eh?: A lot of people live in them and it can often be pretty overwhelming at times, especially in our current societies; it's easy to feel disconnected from the things we normally associate as being more 'magical'. Having been to a lot of beautiful and incredible natural environments in my life I can understand and feel the draw to the less human-populated places, even if I love cities.

That being said cities are largely unavoidable for many of us and wholly unique in a sense, with their own personalities and identity; if you spend enough time in a place you can really get a sense of the dimensionality of a place, the layers of time and experience and history that have accumulated, regardless of the size all cities and towns have this quality.

Like everything else in creation, cities are multifaceted: even in a singular city you'll come across different places that epitomise different aspects of the settlement and will have an entirely different feel to other places in that same city. My home town for example has an older quarter situated above the rest of the city, upon which the cathedral looks down over the moors and farmland for miles. This area is the oldest region in my city and you can really feel the sense the spiritual weight and self-importance it has. Comparing that to the block I lived in for a few years prior, It was completely different: that place was pretty much a lifeblood of travel through the southern part of the city, surrounded by a lattice of highways and crossroads. (also the sight of a former temple to Mercury).

Even if your going just by the 'vibe', it isn't just the architecture, infrastructure or affluence; the people do. Cities are almost like solar system of overlapping orbits of different communities, at times they are at odds and other times they work in concert. This gives cities a somewhat conscious dimension (Unconscious may be more apt).

All these factors heavily impact the overall spiritual identity of a city and usually coalesce around focal points in the city. These places (I usually refer to them as nexuses so i can feel edgy) are usually the best places to communicate and open a dialogue with the entities that compose this city spirit. Fountains, parks statues and monuments can all be good for this.

has anyone ever experimented with sound / audio / vocal sigils ?

I’m extremely sensitive to sound and the best altered states / gnosis like trances I get are related to music (writing / playing).

I wonder if a sigil system using the ephemeral, instant quality of sound could work ?

Almadel update

As per the written requirements I began pouring the wax moulds for the almadel this Sunday during the correct planetary hours of the sun.

First step. Melting my candles.

Was a bit miffed to find my red candles were just coated and not fully red but meh, had to get started making this thing. This process was relatively simple, just used a larger pan full of water to boil and a smaller pan containing the broken down candles. Quite surprised how quickly the wax become liquid. Only took ten minutes or so.

Then came the part I dreaded, pouring it into the matrix. My fear was that there would be spillages and my entire kitchen would be covered in boiling wax, buuuuuut

It went perfectly. No leaks, sound as a pound. Put the matrix into the fridge to speed up the cooling process.

Next step were the four candles which act as a support to the almadel itself.

This gave me headaches but I thought of a crafty way around it. Cut the neck of a plastic bottle, used tie wraps to keep it secured and covered it in tape, just to make it air tight and again to avoid leaks. I’ve been clearly very lucky as all four went well….kind of.

So two of them went swimmingly, but the other two kinda didn’t. One caved in so I poured more wax to fill it out and one just didn’t go the way I wanted it at all. The one on the furthest left. However the top is flat enough to support the almadel so I’m not fussed. The LKoS also specifies that the almadel and four candles need to be made from the same batch of wax, so I can’t really make them again.

Also my little matrix for the candlesticks started to break, so my hands and kitchen counter got covered in wax 🙃

Due to my misunderstanding of the wax, it’s kinda gone more pinky than rose red, as my almadel is for the angels of the second chora. Undecided whether to consider this a test run and buy pure red candles.

But the almadel itself turned out to be perfect and I reallllllly don’t want to do this again.

Need to carve the almadel tablet itself, however I ran out of time so I’ll have to pick it up next Sunday.

The process went somewhat easier than expected, cleaned up the pans and kitchen so no evidence of my exploits will be known. Wax is an interesting medium to work with and I’m lucky I had enough for my batch to make the tablet and four candlestick supports.

There’s no consecration for them per se, but I’m writing my own as I like all my tools to be blessed. So fingers crossed they’ll be completed next week. Just need to get my hand on some mastic to burn, as that’s the prescribed incense to use, and also a red pot to place beneath the almadel.
