I vote career - it’s a new way of reading the cards for me and I found a 3 card spread that should be applicable for the workplace!

Situation: The Star

The Star is a card of hope and rejuvenation. This card in the “situation” location suggests that you’re either beginning a new phase of a current job, or maybe starting a new job? If you’ve only thought about making a change though; consider this card as a marker that you’ve got the right idea!

Outcome: Page of Swords (Reversed)

It’s possible that in all of the enthusiasm towards starting a new chapter, you might have inadvertently put the cart before the horse. Which believe me I understand - it’s hard not to get wrapped up in opportunities and potential.

Advice: IX of Swords

Considering that this is a card that revolves around worry, and it came up in the advice slot? My advice to you is don’t over think things. Personally I like to take a step back from work and remind myself that in a lot of ways, I’m not in control of my position at my job. I do the best that I can, but at the end of the day, whatever will be will be. It’s just not worth stressing myself over.

(which I say after getting diagnosed with depression and anxiety at 33 - If I can make it this far without medication, then you can do ANYTHING!)

Just guessing from your questions, I have a hunch you may know, or at least hope to know, the answer to a few of those yourselves. But! I have found a 3 card relationship spread that might be able to help fill in the gaps.

You: X of Cups (Reversed)

Seeing this card reversed lets me know that you’ve had a few sour relationships in the past that have left their marks on you. No wonder you’re looking ahead to future relationships!

Dynamics: The Star

Never you fear though, as the star reminds us to hold fast to our faith in a better tomorrow with an even better person. Another aspect of the Star is rejuvenation, so take the time to take care of yourself. Maybe a deep cleaning purge to fill your home with fresh new ready for love energy!

Oh there’s stormy seas ahead in that little noggin of yours. It’s alright though, everyone’s entitled to spend some time enjoying the role of brooding anti-hero. Very Mr. Thornton of you! Just keep in mind that it is possible to be a little *too* introspective.

Thinking: High Priestess (Reversed)

The High Piestess reversed generally speaks to feeling off center; like you’ve suddenly lost track of the conversation going on around you and you’re desperately trying to catch back up. Having her in the ‘thinking’ position of this reading tells me you could be facing several options but feeling unsure of which to choose, or how to choose. Take a moment to let all the outside influences quiet and listen to your own instincts and intuition; it’ll help clear things up.

Feeling: X of Wands

As a result of losing track of your intuition, you’ve likely taken on too much and are definitely feeling like a candle burned at both ends. Pinterest boards will tell you to “SAY YES TO EVERYTHING!” but that’s not really good for us. Take a lesson from the High Priestess and listen to your gut on what you should say no to.

When you’re feeling somewhat insecure, it makes sense to want to hold on to every little bit that you have. But there’s a difference between being conservative and becoming miserly. Brain: The Hanged Man Reversed

In the immortal words of Paula Abdul, you take two steps forward, one step back. It’s an awful feeling to look back at all you’ve sacrificed and have to admit that it’s not enough. Not yet. You’ll need to be really honest with yourself about where your choices have brought you. Have you been making the ‘easier’ choices because you’re afraid of what the other option will cost you? Take a look at that fear and let it help you decide if they are justified or if you are avoiding moving out of your comfort zone.

Heart: X of Pentacles Reversed

Carrying directly out of the fear of the reversed Hanged Man, it feels like you have worked and worked and gotten little to show for it. And in fairness, that would give you very little reason to want to work even harder. Take a step back from the situation and try to check if maybe you have let your expectations get the better of you. If you’re not getting back what you haven given, then maybe it’s time to consider a different path?

As I continue practicing readings, I thought it would be helpful to sort of meditate on each card in turn to help cement my own personal interpretation of each.

So we start with The Fool. Our common understanding of the Fool is that it is a warning against naivety and rushing over cliffs that we didn’t take the time to see. I think it’s easier to focus on the danger of The Fool because by and large, we’re not The Fool - we are the dog barking at them. We’ve all been conditioned with our culture’s idea of what is “safe” and “wise” and it’s certainly easier and more comfortable to stay on the well walked path.

At it’s best though, The Fool is the courage and faith to step off of that path and explore something truly new to us without the guarantee of safety. It’s these risks that often have the most fulfilling rewards for us in the long run, even if we fall off a few cliffs on the way.
