New Moon in Aries – a No Joke New Moon!

March 31st or April 1st depending on where you are in the world. April’s Fool or not this New Moon is no joke! It’s a super charged New Moon indeed.

New Moon is when the Moon moves to the same degree with the Sun and becomes invisible in the sky. She is fully charged by the sunlight before she starts her new lunar cycle each month. It marks the new beginning. And it happens in Aries represents all about one own self. 

The Sun and the Moon conjunct Chiron

What is Chiron? Chiron is an asteroid known as a wounded healer. He was a son of Cronus, but born Centaur and being rejected since birth by his parents. Adopted by God Apollo (Jupiter), he was taught all forms of sciences and medicines. He became mentor and healer to all divinities. But he was shot one day by an arrow. As Demi-god, he couldn’t die but suffered so much until he had to let go of his immortality and dived to the underworld to reborn again stronger.

Chiron in our natal chart represents wounds and where we feel vulnerable in life something that we have been carried most likely since childhood. The main issue of Chiron in Aries is around insecurity, vulnerability, wounds, the sense of unworthiness and rejection. We usually get triggered easily when this wound is touched. And yes, if it is a TRIGGER it means it’s important and needs attention from us. Out of 30 degrees in each zodiac sign this New Moon happens to be in close conjunction with Chiron. This doesn’t obviously come often or it could even be a “once in a lifetime” event. This New Moon comes to trigger the Chiron in Aries issues bringing them to the surface…the Pandora box is opening.  I do not mean to be intimidating but to point out that this is a chance for us all (including myself) to seek the opportunity to accept, embrace, work on and clear the wounds, to get healed and grow. There is no such thing as good or bad situation as such. It is how we look at it. We might allow ourselves to be a victim and keep blaming the outer factors or we can choose to use Aries’ boldness to get on a board and ride the waves where fallings are the natural part of the learning towards mastery. I wholeheartedly believe that things always happen for the better even though many times that betterment means hardship. 

So please use this chance to ask yourself when someone or something hurts you. Can you sit with that feeling? Can you hear it and allow yourself space to just be without judgment? Perhaps journaling is a great tool here to bring deeper understanding and clarity. Perhaps you will find what is the real issue behind. Perhaps you may see that this mirrors something that you disown in yourself. This is a real chance of healing and growth! Be like Chiron returning from the dark, strong and charismatic. And perhaps you can spread your wisdom to support others as well.

Full Moon in Leo 

Connect to Your Heart and Hear it Sings!

This might be one of the sweetest Full Moons of 2022!

I’ve found this Full Moon in Leo quite charming. It’s straight forward yet there is something deep about it. All to indicate how true we stay connected with our heart, how creative and courageous of us to express who we really are into the world. Leo rules the matters of the heart. It’s all that we do to cultivate joy in life. It governs hobbies, children, romance, creative expression. Ruled by the Sun, healthy Leo is charismatic, bold and courageous. Leo is the star of the show. With Leo who already learnt and live their lives from the heart space, they know how to rule their people with heartfelt leadership. Otherwise Leo could cry “Me Me Me” needing to be in the lime light all the time. Then they need to understand the lesson of the Sun in the opposite sign Aquarius which is about community and humanity. 

Moon Nodes and the Fixed Grand Cross

As Full Moon always happens in exact opposition with the Sun, this one happens to be in exact square with the moon nodes as well. And this is super rare! A Square is an astrological aspect that teaches us to become stronger through some challenges. Moon in Leo opposites Sun in Aquarius. Both are squaring the North Node in Taurus and the South Node in Scorpio. Leo, Aquarius, Taurus and Scorpio, they are fixed signs by nature. And the Fixed Signs don’t like change! But the nature of the Moon Nodes, which are the ecliptic point in the sky, encourages change! According to modern western astrology, the North Node is where our soul is supposed to move toward for progress while the South Node is where we must learn to let go. Even though this configuration only takes days, it is indeed a powerful activation. The details are varied depending where they lie in your chart. Generally, Taurus ask us to step further in to self-love and where our true values lie both in material and non-physical realms. And Scorpio is for us to work on the shadow and wounded issues to tap into our inner power. So why don’t we use the bravery from Leo to do the inner work here?!

Venus and Mars are known as Cosmic Lovers. They happen to meet each other at the exact same degree in Capricorn at the same time with the heart-related Full Moon. This makes this Full Moon have the sweeter energy than the Valentine’s Day itself. And both Venus and Mars are in mature and hardworking Capricorn. This is a chance to implement Leo creative endeavour into action or turn your hobbies into some lucrative project. We have the support from Venus who also rules finance  while she joins force with action taker Mars.

Full Super Moon Total Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius

Time for Karmic Cleansing & Big Change is on its way!!

The eclipses always happen in pair at the Nodes of the Moon whether it’s a South Node or North Node Eclipse. And they usually link with karma. And the South Node is particularly connected with the karmic clearing. It is this nodal point that indicates the issues we suppose to let go in this life time. If we don’t learn how to release, we will have to carry the loads to the next lifetime. And it most likely to become harder and heavier.

Full moon happens when she is at the exact opposition with the Sun in the Sky getting the full light reflection for herself.  Full Moon is the peak point of the matters and emotions. It’s when things come to culmination and completion. People’s emotions can be really heightened. This is because the Moon affects the hormones in the body the same way she affects the tides in the Ocean. (That’s why the Moon governs our emotional body and the deep psyche).

And when the moon comes closer to the Earth at the point called perigee, she is then the Super Moon appearing so big and bright in the sky.  Many astrologers say The Full Super Moon is the Full Moon on steroid highly energised and amplified!  The same energy happens when it comes to the eclipse. And it’s a total lunar eclipse this time. So I leave you to imagine how powerful this Full Moon is.

This Full Moon is also called blood moon because she appears reddish when the total eclipse happens. It’s also a Flower Moon according to the Native American cultures written in the Farmer’s Almanac. No surprise because flowers are blossoming everywhere during this season in the Northern hemisphere.

Now let’s see the astrological side of it.

This Full Super Moon Total Lunar Eclipse happens on the axis of Sagittarius and Gemini. It is the axis of knowledge and wisdom. The energy of Sagittarius governs about our Beliefs System, higher education, religious beliefs, morality, fairness, the quest for wisdom and deeper TRUTH out in the world. And Gemini, the sign where the Sun is located right now portrays the intellectual mind, logics, the lower education, the writing, the learning, and  the ability to express oneself in a creative way.  Both of them are fun loving. Even though they share some common traits but they are quite different in their nature. Gemini carries fresh and young energy having curiosity of a ‘beginner’s mind’ while Sag likes to follow the path the are proven working by the wisemen. On this regards, Sagittarius can fall into a fixated dogma. Being aware of it all not, we human beings usually have at least one strong believe system that becomes our stand point. As we journey through human experience lifetime after lifetime, we tend to find out at some points that what we strongly believe in turned to be the root cause of the patterns that have created an imbalance in our life. This may connect to how we raised, the childhood formation and de-formation from family, school and society.

For the COLLECTIVE, one of the key factors as a change agent of this eclipse has for us is to check in with our beliefs system, to investigate the deep impregnated traits that keep sabotaging our lives and learn to let those go. Obviously, the energy of the Lunar Eclipse is anything but the path full of roses.. the thorns may be but it’s almost impossible for us to see the flowers during the process.  The energy of the eclipse lasts 6 months up to a year. Some people feel its energy or have experienced the big change in their lives already weeks before. Often, it contains Uranian Energy bringing change in abrupt manners. It may eclipse some thing or someone out of your life. And that’s why Lunar Eclipse usually has the bad reputation.

There are other factors in play with this eclipse. Mercury, planet of communication and self-expression is squaring Neptune. This could possibly create the foggy mind and miscommunication or even an illusion. Not to mention that Mercury will retrograde in its own sign Gemini doubling this energy all up. (I will spare this part for the next report).

Again...for sure letting go of what we use to cling on to is difficult. For sure CHANGE is not easy and could be even scary sometimes. But without change, there is no evolution.  If we hang in there during the unpleasant process of CHANGE, it will certainly lead us to the AWAKENING. Learn how to release the old Karma is definitely rewarding. We will wake up on the other side of the path lighter and brighter. And that is where we can see the roses in full bloom offering very pleasant fragrance in our lives.  

So fear not everyone. Ask yourself if you can see this as an opportunity for personal growth or you want to be in a victim mode and keep giving away your power into the situation and get stuck into the flip side of the coin? The choice is yours. It’s the matter of perspective. Find the way to cultivate strength and embrace the growth pain. When you grow as an individual, you also uplift the collective as a whole. Remember, there is a rose garden waiting ahead where you can trotter along with peace, ease and grace.

Oh yes!! Here we are at one of the most potent sky of the lifetime with the Massive Karmic Cleansing factors and more. Well..I did start writing the Full Moon Partial Eclipse in Cancer happening on the 9/10th of January a few days ago. But I got a bit unwell from the detoxification after the healing sessions that have happened to me in quite a nice unplanned way and I felt deeply grateful for. Anyhow, this healing crisis didn’t allow me to finish my writing in time for the full moon. And things always happen for a reason because I can share with you the broader perspective of what is happening in this super active sky in during this period. I’ll still covering a bit of this past Full Moon eclipse as it played quite an important role in the whole scheme. And the energy of the eclipse lasts about 6 months. So it’s not that obsolete to talk about it. We are living a very strong Capricorn time with 7 celestial elements all in one sign. Capricorn is an Earth sign having mountain goat as a glyph. Mountain goat is a strong and perseverant animal that can walk up to the mountain top no matter how rough the path is without getting tired. So this sign is about working hard through slow and sturdy steps towards goals and achievement. The 7 elements are: 1. The South Node of the moon - the point pertaining what we have carried with us from the past, childhood and the deep cellular memory from the past lives. It’s the aspect we have to learn to let go in this life time for the the next soul evolution step. 2. Jupiter the Benefic Lord of Abundance, Luck and Expansion, the planet of Faith, Wisdom and Truth. Jupiter usually expands the energy of whatever he touches. In this case, he has the direct touch with the South Node of the Moon enhancing the letting go of the South Node in certain area of our life depends on where it lies in the natal chart. 3. The Sun represents our soul essence and identity. It’s the main power and the centre of the whole solar system. The Sun shines the light enhancing each zodiac sign in which it travels to every month and illuminates the celestial elements that it interacts with. 4. Mercury is the planet of news, communication, creative expression and intellect. Mercury is notorious to be the trickster and it also represents youth and juvenile energy. 5. Pluto, the Lord of Transformation, Power, Death and Rebirth, a big karmic cleanser. He is the Lord of Underworld that rules our deep psyche and subconsciousness. After we tap into our inner power to have strength to dive deep in the underworld, Pluto will also support us to be born again like a phoenix rising. 6. Saturn is the Lord of Karma, Rules, Restrictions, Boundaries and Fear. He is Chronos, the Lord of Time that put limit on everything. He is the rule setter founding the structure and stability to all matters. He rules leaders, and authority figures and the fatherly energy. 7. Ceres, or Demeter in Greek Mythology is an asteroid representing Goddess Energy, Earth Mother, Harvest and deep motherly energy. And all of this mega stellium is in the lime light on the Capricorn stage right now!! What I would love to emphasise here is the exact conjunction of Saturn and Pluto. These two big Lords conjoin each other every 33-34 years in different signs. But we won’t going to have them coming together in Capricorn again in this lifetime. it’s a rare celestial alignment we are talking about here. These two comes quite close together already for many months in 2019. When they comes together, it’s super INTENSE!! And their meeting was given a big jolt by this recent Full Moon Partial Eclipse in Cancer - the first Full Moon of the decade that had such a grand overture into 2020. It brought us quite a destabilising energy. And this one is pretty much related with our emotional body and deep feelings. It could eclipse something or someone out of our life in quite an unpredictable way. This is part of the flow of the Nature. This might happen in the area connecting with Cancer, the highly sensitive and emotional sign that rules our roots, mother figure, home and family. It could may involve home improvement, moving or relocation. It’s also a big time to clear family karma through some healing modalities. The conjunction between Saturn and Capricorn affects us on many levels. On the personal plane, it concerns big transformation. Pluto energy has ask us to dive deep into our psyche to face our shadow and old patterns, to face, clean and clear stuff that no longer serves us. Saturn stands there as a controller to make sure we won’t or can’t give up until we work enough to clear a big bunch of those out of our system. They ask us to be responsible with our shadow and become accountable with our behaviour, to use our power in the right way, to get rid of the unhealthy ego and old patterns that hinder us from growing internally. And if we manage to learn from this rough lessons, the rewards we reap after will last long for Saturn represents a very long shelf life. This change can create new structure and foundation for the area of life we are working at. The energy of this high potency conjunction may spread pretty much through out 2020. But it hits the peak point having the exact same degree on Sunday, Jan 12th. On this same day Mercury also joins this configuration. This mercurial meeting can be seen in a few aspects. On one regard, it may bring intensity or even conflict in communication. On others, I personally feel that this is the reminder for the juvenile Mercury to grow up, get real and be responsible. And on the 13th, the Sun has destined to come shine the light on these 3 parties still in very tight conjunction raising the potency even higher. This could also bring us to internalise the whole process and see what do we learn from these so to get closer to the essence of who we truly are. Well, this is why this cycle of Pluto-Saturn bonding is extremely powerful. We also have the participation from Uranus the Lord of Awakening and Sudden Change coming into play. Uranus is in a very powerful stage in the sky in the sign of Taurus right now. And this might give us a big surprise or bring us a sudden change in certain areas of our life depending where the Uranus lies in the natal chart. On the collective level, since Capricorn reflects the energy of the government, world’s leaders and authority figure, which are parts of the Old World, we are witnessing many intense incidents around the globe. This shows us the declination of the “Old System”. Pluto is about the power. We can see the power game being overly exploited in so many countries in the world. Of course it’s not a new thing that we or the generation before us has seen the violence and conflicts happening one after another. But is it about time for us to seriously question this? Do we want all this to continue for the following generations? Is it time to check in and assess how we personally use our power? Is it constructive or destructive to self and to others? We can be part of the change from understanding, accepting, love and compassion starting from doing the inner-self work so to cultivate the loving awareness and stop feeding more energy into the pattern of conflict and separation. We are all the co-creators of what’s going on in the world. Love-base action is the key to peace and harmony that we want to see in the world. And we have to start with ourselves. It’s time we get real in keeping raising our vibration to create positive ripple effect for the collective consciousness. I feel like the whole Earth is in the birth canal, pretty dark and contracted before the delivery of the New World. Kesenya Moore, one of my favourite astrologers has explained beautifully in the video that I put the link below about Saturn, Pluto and the Cycle of the Earth Evolution from Aeon to Aeon. For example, she explained that we are at the end of Kali Yuga or Dark Age transitioning to Bronze Age stepping into the Age of Aquarius. We are in a tiny spot in time of the ascending cycle. And it will take about 12,000 years to reach the Golden Age again. Please don’t be discouraging to see this number. For me, it’s a good reminder that it literally takes lifetimes for our soul to learn and grow. So please be compassionate and gentle with yourself on the path of soul growth and give yourself lots of TLC.. The last element here is Ceres, the archetype of Earth Mother and Nurturer. Ceres is also in the same area of this big conjunction. This for me reflects the environmental incidents that are happening around the world and I don’t want to go in details here. The planet Earth is now suffering like never before. This shows how human being has been using their power in such a destructive way. Saturn here suggests us to seriously restructure all issues pertaining the Earth and environment ASAP. Well, may be you want to take a few deep breaths here..as I’ll give you a bit of fresh air. From Jan 13th to Feb 7th, Venus the planet of beauty, love, relationship and finance is going in the dreamy Pisces where she is exalted! Venus lo..o..ves to be in Pisces. This is the gift for everyone and especial for those who are Libra and Taurus Sun, Moon or Rising. They may enjoy this energy more for Venus is their ruler. This may be a good time to fall in love, pair up with business partner, allowing your creativity to flow and make something beautiful especially if you are a poet or artist of some kinds. Well, overall this is how the Universe sometimes give us a tough love to bring us to the place we suppose to be. We are voyaging through the cycle in the moment in time having hard lessons. To be realistic, the transformation process is not always easy. It’s may be rather chaotic for we are pushed to step out of our comfort zone. That’s why I keep encouraging you to start some holistic practice whether it be yoga, meditation, qi gong, listening to the sound healing, receiving energy work, walking in the Nature, cooking, gardening, writing, creating art, floating in the ocean, walking bare feet on the ground,...to equip ourselves with the tools that support us to stay grounded and in Grace as much as possible during the tough period in life. This will help us not to get caught in the “Victim Mode” and cultivate the awareness, the courage and embrace them as part of the soul development process. Full Moon in Taurus 12/13 November 2019 High Vibrancy Sky for Long-Term Establishment

Here we are again in the time of Full Moon with the Sky full of planets on High!! This time the Full Moon happens in Taurus the ultimate Feminine Fixed Earth sign ruled by Venus- Goddess of Beauty, Love and Money. Taurus represents physicality, self-worth, stability, security, money, belongings and what we value in life. Taurus is when the soul starts to develop from the baby stage of Aries and evolve into form, experiencing earthly matters. The high vibrational Taurus is in deep connection and values Mother Earth and Nature, loves all the beautiful things and likes their environment to be comfortable and well taken care of. But on the other hand, one could also flip into working too hard just to earn more and never feel they have enough. This can lead to hoarding habit or giving too much value to the material world. The tendency of overindulgence into 5 senses, through food, luxurious items could also be the case. Developed Taureans know what truly hold dear to them and they really value that as they truly value themselves. Talking about the Full Moon energy… Well, normally Full Moon is the time for culmination and completion. So it’s the moment to create the Letting go list. BUT for this particular Full Moon, we have highly supportive force from the big planets like Saturn, Pluto and Neptune. Plus, the Mercury in retrograde conjuncts the Sun in Scorpio, shining the light over to the Moon across the sky from the opposite sign. (Woo Hoo!! I am feeling so overwhelmed with the thoughts of all these power houses are now activated!!). Ok, I will adopt Taurus vibe and walk you through this slowly.. Scorpio Full Moon 18/19 May 2019 True Rebirthing Time

Deep Diving into the Shadow for Transformation and Soul Growth. Full Moon is when the Moon is in the exact opposition with the Sun in the sky reflecting the light to the fullest. Full moon brings culmination, completion of matters. The Moon usually reflects the emotional body. And this particular full moon happening in the sign of Scorpio, the deepest diver into the ocean of emotion. Scorpio is the most intense sign of the zodiac. It doesn’t know gray zone.. either black or white, right or wrong. Scorpio rules the areas of subconscious mind, deep intimacy, power, sexual energy, psychology, death and rebirth. One aspect is that it opposes the Sun in Taurus which is the sign reflecting what we value in life which in some cases can lead to the hoarding behavior. This full moon has asked us to re-evaluate and focus on keeping things that are truly valuable to us both on physical and emotional level.

When the moon becomes full in this sign, it’s the ultimate time of LETTING GO. Scorpio is ruled by Pluto or Hades, Lord of Death & Rebirth, Lord of the Underworld where lies our subconsciousness. It’s the place where we usually hide all the mess and wounds so deeply and most of the time not a pleasant experience to look at.

But at this particular Full Moon, we have support from other powerful planetary configuration. Pluto and Saturn in retrograde is also about taking the inner journey to clear karmic patterns and restructure certain areas of our life. They are in a very supportive aspect with this full moon in a Scorpio to work on this issue right now.

So my dear reader, this is time to take the courage, put on the oxygen tank, and arm yourself with tools to dive deep down into this shadow land to clear the dirt of old patterns and all that no longer serve you, to allow the wounds to come up on the surface as an open wounds so that they can be can healed. Knowing that sooner or later we all have to take this step. Otherwise, the same issue will keep reappearing in our life. Please bear in mind that this is a Rebirthing process for a transformation and the soul growth. It’s a Pheonix rising from the ash. This can be quite a tough process. It requires the courage to be vulnerable. Vulnerability is the first step for us to see and accept the TRUTH  and start to establish self-connection. Then we have to take another bold leap to get out of our comfort zone and persevere to stay put in the process facing all possible chaos. Thinking of how much pain and pressure there was in the birth canal when our mom was about to give birth to us. But the outcome is so rewarding when we step out on the other side becoming an upgraded version of ourselves! Believe me, I have been going through this process several times. Each time the wave that I ride seems to be smoother until I’ve become this version of myself, offering what I am offering and be able to sit and share what I am sharing with you now. And since life is a constant journey for soul growth, we have to be armed with consciousness and be ready for another layer of learning.

And while I did my study and research, I came across a mind blowing information on an asteroid called Kasandra that is in conjunction with this Full Moon. We are guided to find deep truth in our heart that we want to live our life accordingly. And we can then learned to draw clearer boundaries. No time to be people pleaser, no time to spend compromising on life... and definitely no time for BS!!! I said this before but I’ll keep saying this again that all forms of holistic practices whether it be yoga, meditation, Qi Qong, breathing, or walking in the Nature, making arts, doing some creative expression, floating in the ocean,…. are the great support especially when we are going through this process. It helps grounding us, and support us to handle situations with grace. But if things are going out of hands, it’s not a bad idea to seek professional assistance from your holistic health practice like Reiki, acupuncture, flower essence, aromatherapy, life coach or even psychologist if that speaks to you.

New Moon in Aquarius - Creation beyond Self! Hello again everyone! I am back with this New Moon energy report for the energy is too beautiful not to share with my community!! And Happy Chinese New Year.. May this year of Earth Pig bring you abundance in all aspects that you wish for! This month we have a celestial gift happening on for New Moon. It’s one of the most beautiful New Moon of the year with so much of supportive energy from other planets in the sky. New Moon is when the Moon is invisible because she orbits and meets with the Sun to get fully charged by his energy which is Aquarius for this month. Then she is ready to start her new cycle again. Super New Moon In Gemini Time for Creative Expression and Learn to Communicate your Emotions with Care

(13th or 14th June 2018 depending on where you are in the world)

Wow.. wow.. wow..

And here comes another strong lunation of this year before we get into the “Eclipse Season” next month when there might be big changes happening in certain areas of our life. This New Moon in Gemini is powerful. It’s a Super Moon (the Moon comes closer to the Earth and her energy is three time stronger!). New Moon happens when the Moon and the Sun orbit into exactly the same place in the sky. So the Moon gets fully recharged for the coming lunar circle.. While the past Full Moon in Sagittarius has asked us to look into the deep TRUTH in our heart and to live our life in alignment with that in the big picture, Gemini New Moon asks us to bring that into practice in daily life through creative expression. This New moon brings out the Gemini energy for us all. Gemini is chatty, intellectual, curious, witty and loves for us to talk and communicate our ideas. It’s also extrovert and fun loving signs. It can bring us the urge to create, paint, write or express ourselves creatively. It also rules languages. If you want to learn a new one, here is a good time to start.  On the other hand, Gemini can just enjoy the process of “talk”, exchanging ideas rather than to bring those into practice or materialisation. Writers, authors..It’s your time to SHINE!

Not only will the New Moon cater you with supportive energy for your creative flow, the degree placement in the zodiac sign is another big factor. Another aspect this New Moon brings is the communication of emotion. You may ask… “Gemini? Emotion? Really?.. What Gemini has to do with emotion?”

Normally, Gemini is an Air sign associating with the mind, intellectual but not so sensitive nor emotional. (This is a general characteristic of the sign. If you are Gemini Rising or Sun, it doesn’t mean you are not sensitive. We have to look into personal natal chart to have the whole picture.)

This time, Mercury, the Sky Messenger, the ruler of Gemini is in Cancer, one of the most sensitive signs ruled by the Moon while The Moon is in Gemini. So they are in each other’s homes. This means that most likely that we want to communicate our emotions to our close ones. And sometimes this may not be an easy thing to do. One may take things personally more easily, for Mercury is in the deep emotion position. And emotions may seem to be confusing sometimes. It is advisable to rest and make a pause in this particular time for every single detail may not need to be fully understood at this moment. And that’s ok. Relax, and wait until you gain more emotional balance and clarity. Sometimes, the answer may come to you in an effortless way when you relax. And when you feel the need to communicate, it would be nice to learn to communicate (both talking and listening) with discernment, compassion and care. Please be aware of the fact  that everyone may want to express their emotion, and if we don’t see that others may have the same need as us, then who’s going to be a listener if we don’t practice patience and compassion?

And since Cancer is also about our immediate family, there might be more communications happening amongst family members. You might talk to a long lost relative, for instance. New Moon in Taurus 15/16 May 2018!

And Sky God Uranus has picked to enter Earth Mother Sign on the same day!!

Wow.. I never feel this overwhelmed and excited with the all the information I wish to share about this Super Special time in our lives.. First, New Moon is the time for us to set the intention and send out what we want to manifest and achieve in life to the Universe. It happens when the Moon comes exactly at the same point with the Sun in the Sky get herself fully charged for the new lunar cycle. In May 15th or 16thdepending on where you are in the world,  the New Moon happens in Taurus the Earth sign ruled by Venus. Taurus represents physicality, self-esteem, stability, security, money, and what we value in life. So it’s a good time to ponder upon what we wish to materialize and stabilize to create life we wish for. What helps us to reconnect with the self-esteem and own our value. The Moon is exalted to be here in Taurus, so MEDITATE, make a MANIFESTATION LIST and voice it out to the Universe by reading out loud or burning. Solid and earthy Taurus is grounded. It may moves slowly but surely. Taurus represents the wisdom of Mother Nature that everything has it’s own time and rhythm. The Nature changes organically and no one can force the season to change, for instance. Taurus rules all senses; perceiving, smelling, hearing, touching and tasting. It asks us to check in how we live our life physically. What kind of things we consume? Are they healthy? Do they provide us with positive energy whether it be food or news? Do we create physical healthy routine for ourselves? Is our lifestyle friendly to the Earth and environment? They may enjoy themselves too much through food to the point of becoming overweight and sluggishness. They may value their belongings too much to the point of becoming hoarders. Ruled by the planet of beauty and money Venus, they may have the tendency to over-spend on beautiful items without thinking twice! Or they may be too afraid of their stability and security to the point of becoming money-oriented person. So this is a good time to check-in with all these aspects that we might get influenced during the Taurean season and allow the energy of this new moon to re-create balanced and healthy habit. Another HUGE aspect happening on the same day of this New Moon in Taurus is that the Sky God “Uranus”, the revolutionary change bringer, the freedom breaker, the innovator, exits the fiery Aries where he dwelled since 2011. Uranus enters Taurus which is the fixed Earth and will be here for another 7-8 years. (The first period, Uranus will move back and forth and will fully settled in Taurus from March 7th, 2019.). Back to Natural Flow of Breathing for Health Benefits: Part 1

Are you taking your breath for granted?

In this article, I try to explain why breathing is so important and what the stress has done to our natural flow of breathing in a simplified way with least technical and scientific terms as possible.

Breathing is a sign of being alive! It happens in the Autonomic Nervous System, which occurs automatically in the body function. It happens so instinctively that we never think of it. We start to take it for granted and have never been aware of its importance to our whole existence.

Research says we start to breathe against our natural flow round the age of 7, when our school years commence. So what’s the natural flow of breathing supposed to be like? Well, the easiest way is to observe if you happen to be able to see how babies or very young children breathe, for everyone was born with that.  You will see that their belly will rise and expand when they breathe in and the belly falls down with their exhalation.

But the deformation started when we were put to follow the social norm where school seems to be a major institute after the family. When we are in a new environment, and starting to take in new learning and information, the body tends to tense up and we start to hold the breath. We gradually developed this ill-breathing pattern with belly contracting in with our in-breath and the belly falling down with the outbreath.

Let me explain to you what’s happening in our respiratory organs when the natural flow of breathing occurs in a light, anatomical manner.

Diaphragm…

What is the diaphragm and why the diaphragm is a really cool organ?

I admit that, like many of us walking in the street of everyday life, I have returned almost all my Health Education knowledge to my teachers since uncountable numbers of moon ago until I rediscovered its magic when I took my first Yoga Teacher Training in 2007, which I believe is worth sharing this knowledge with you guys.

The diaphragm is a dome-shaped musculotendinous thin sheet separating our thorax or chest cavity with the stomach cavity. It’s the fundamental respiratory organ which is normally involuntary (you don’t have to control it to make it work).

With the inhalation - the air comes in to our nostril going fully into the airbags in the lung tissues. The lungs expand and flatten the diaphragm down. The diaphragm then presses the inner organs in the stomach cavity, making the belly expand. (Can you feel the expansion in your lungs?). With the exhalation – the navel moves towards the spine, the inner organs in the stomach cavity press the diaphragm upwards back to the parachute-like shape to squeeze the air (carbon dioxide) out from the lungs and through the nostril again.

Now please observe how you normally breathe. If you are part of the majority whose natural breathing pattern has been deformed since your childhood, please feel what’s happening when you breathe in with belly in. If you do so, it means your body is naturally trying to squeeze the air out while you are bringing the air in.  The breath becomes short and restricted. In time, the body cells get less oxygen supply than they are supposed to. This creates, in consequence, muscular tension.  The stress has created in a physical level affecting the level of stress in your mind. And if you already live a stressful lifestyle without doing some de-stressing activities like yoga, pranayama (breathing practice), meditation, some kind sports, or taking enough quality vacation, imagine the amount of stress you may carry in your system! Gradually, in many cases, this is how one develops High Blood Pressure, cardiovascular related diseases or panic attack.

And back to the diaphragm… why I think it’s such a cool organ! The diaphragm normally works involuntarily, which means it will continue working in all circumstances. But you know it also can work voluntarily. This means mastering it and working it out like we work out our bicep muscle! Well, of course, the purpose here is not to get our diaphragm muscle back into the physical shape but to enhance our breathing capacity with the practice of conscious breathing.

In the next journal, I will share with you some benefits of breathing with a few simple  techniques to help you to re-establish your natural flow of breathing.

It really is a simple gateway of good health and well-being!
