STATEMENT FROM VIOLATOR - ENGLISH / PORTUGUES

Friends that accompany Violator for the last 12 years, This note is to explain in public that we will be taking a break from doing concerts for at least the first half of 2014. It is a very simple matter: some of us need some time to organize our personal and professional lives, a task that is not easy with all the dedication, passion and focus that we have with the band . As you may know, our claim with Violator was never to take our livelihood with music . Rather, we were always very proud to produce the music we love so much without thinking of money, in this world where everything is dictated by money and all relationships seem determined monetarily . For choices like this , we've heard many times that we are "anti -professional", almost a compliment to us, but more than that, a value that we want to continue leading, producing the way we think should be the underground: based on friendship, cooperation networks, autonomy and do-it -yourself. Violator was never our profession, nor will be, and that's why now we need this time to take care of parts of our lives that do not concern the band . We believe this option to take a break is the most respectful possible to what Violator means is in essence for us: the product of our intense friendship . Therefore, we prefer a collective pause than continue with the band playing and traveling without the presence of any member . We don't want to set a date to return to stage yet, life can be quite unpredictable. But now we would like to leave the statement (and commitment) here that we already have some plans of return and when things have stabilized we'll be back to normal playing. Amigos e amigas que acompanham o Violator nesses 12 anos, Essa nota é para explicar publicamente que iremos dar uma pausa nos shows por, pelo menos, o primeiro semestre de 2014. A questão é muito simples: alguns de nós precisam de um tempo para organizar nossas vidas pessoais e profissionais, tarefa que não é simples com toda a dedicação, paixão e foco que temos com a banda.  Como vocês devem saber, nossa pretensão com o Violator nunca foi de tirar nosso sustento com a música. Pelo contrário, sempre tivemos muito orgulho de poder produzir a música que tanto amamos sem pensar em dinheiro, nesse mundo em que tudo é ditado pela grana e todas as relações parecem determinadas monetariamente. Por escolhas como essa, já ouvimos muitas vezes que somos "anti-profissionais", quase um elogio pra gente, mas mais do que isso, um valor, que queremos continuar levando, produzindo da maneira que achamos que deve ser o underground: na base da amizade, redes de cooperação, autonomia e faça-você-mesmo. O Violator nunca foi nossa profissão, nem será, e por isso mesmo agora precisamos desse tempo para cuidar de partes das nossas vidas que não dizem respeito a banda. Acreditamos que essa opção de dar um tempo é a mais respeitosa possível ao que o Violator representa em essência para nós: o fruto da nossa amizade intensa. Por isso, preferimos uma pausa coletiva a continuar com a banda, tocando e viajando, sem a presença de algum integrante. Ainda não queremos marcar uma data de retorno aos palcos, a vida pode ser bastante imprevisível. Mas já gostaríamos de deixar o aviso (e o compromisso) aqui que já temos alguns planos de retorno e quando as coisas se estabilizarem voltaremos a tocar normalmente.
