Heya, this is entirely and I mean ENTIRELY speculation on my part. HOWEVER: due to the many places in Larian has studios, I wouldn't put it past them to have based their decision making when picking Kar'niss' name in real world linguistics for a little morbid pun. His name sounds an AWFUL lot like the word "carniça" which is the Brazilian spelling (and effectively homophonous to his name) to the Latin word Carnitia/Carnis (meat); and it means carrion nowadays. Much love from a Brazilian reader!
We welcome speculation in this house. In fact, speculation is the only thing holding this rickety shack together!
This was interesting to read and, while dark, could very much so work if that is what they were going for. Kar’niss is a meat shield for the Absolute and completely disposable even if he himself doesn’t see it that way. To think his name is a play on words that basically means “dead meat” is both funny and depressing at the same time. This guy can’t catch a break, it’s almost like he was Larian’s punching bag. Thanks for the cool bit of information from the Brazillian side of things. I love factoids like these!
Both these pictures were taken during very important seasons of my life. For the next two weeks, I will be saying goodbye to my homeland. Brazil is such an amazing, magical country. I am grateful for the opportunity to have experienced the depths of its beauty and culture, like few can, living in the "portunhol salvaje" border, in this intersection of worlds.
Probably, I'm going to be writing more about my homeland once I'm gone, when my heart misses the heat, the beat, and the wild wonders. For now, the old goodbye will have to do: "Au revoir, beauté latine!". I promise to remain salvaje, to remain gaucha, to remain strong and kind, like you taught me to.
