Hi! I was just wondering what the general stance is on animatics being made with audio from the podfic? I’ve recently really gotten into the series, and I would love to make some little animatics of things like girls night from the bloopers, but I felt like I should check in to see if that’s okay? Thank you!

Stance is HIGHLY POSITIVE! There's a few really excellent animatics that people have made on YouTube already, and we would be OVERJOYED to see more!! Go ham!

We still have some side stories in and around this world that we'd like to share when they're ready, but our regular schedule has ended with The Archivist today. Come the new year, we'll be putting up remaining Marginalia episodes as we record them, and then shifting our focus as a team to supporting any new and exciting projects our members embark on- more details to come. The future will be different, but haven't heard the last of us!

Hello! I’m the person that asked for advice on writing before. Did you have to get permissions from rusty quill to create this and post it? Apologies if it’s a bit of a stupid question I just don’t want any issues in the future with copyright and stuff <\3

the magnus archives is a podcast distributed by rusty quill and licensed under a creative commons attribution non-commercial share-alike 4.0 international license

that means that you can use anything from it so long as it is 1) attributed to the source and 2) not for commercial purposes

but more importantly, even if the source material is not under a creative commons license or in the public domain, fanfic is generally protected as transformative work and thus as fair use. unless you are straight-up plagiarizing or trying to make money off of fic containing copyrighted material (this is why ao3 has to have quite strict rules about this sort of thing), you never have to ask the original writer for permission to post. nor should you! have fun

hello! So I’m planning to try do my own version of a mcyt au with tma, might voiceact it, not sure yet. Do you have any advice for plot and writing? I adore how you write the statements, and it creates such a vivid picture

hello! sixteenthdays here. the number one trick to writing horror is to have fun and be yourself!

that sounds like a joke but i'm actually totally serious. i had a ton of fun while writing from the archives because i chose ideas that i knew i would enjoy thinking about and describing and exploring (a scientist being slowly corrupted by the spiral, a sculptor who works with living human bodies), and then went as visceral and graphic as i possibly could with those concepts.

so: don't necessarily feel bound to the ideas of tma canon, or of my fic! you can use those things as a jumping-off point as much or as little as you like, but you will have the most fun and have the best end product if you are writing about concepts that you find compelling. horror is a very freeing genre to write in, because there are no real constraints! you can be as strange and offputting as you want! take advantage of that!

hey! i'm not sure of who runs the tumblr, but if it wouldn't be a bother, could i ask if anyone still has the images from tango's notes on the fears? they seem to be gone from ao3 likely due to something discord related. thanks in advance.

hi! yes, sorry, i'm aware of this issue. the images broke because discord image hosting changed and stopped allowing you to display images hosted on discord on external sites in that way. i've been meaning to fix it for some time, i still have the images and just haven't found the best way to re-host them yet. - sixteenthdays

hey i have a question. Are there confirmed statement numbers for all of the statements in From The Archives? If so where can I find a list of them.

hey! here's the spreadsheet i (sixteenthdays) used to track the statement numbers as i was writing the series. there aren't numbers for the last two statements (life story and the archivist) because they aren't really statements that can be categorized normally.
