During a meeting.. UHH a random fake Kingsman doujin I doodled.. I was inspired by that interview I saw, don’t remember which one it was but Taron said one of his favourite moments when filming was when he turned on Snapchat and took a photo of Colin with the puppy dog filter. Selling my BTS DNA risograph poster up on my store!! The poster is 11 x 17" and is printed with halftones in blue and fluorescent pink (the pink is a lot more vibrant IRL). The paper is a natural yellowish tone to give it a vintage feel. Each print is unique bc they have differences in the way it’s printed.

FINALLY DONE!! Original Dream Daddy print that I’m going to be selling at Fan Expo next week @ table A37!! I was heavily influenced by JC Leyendecker (it’s actually kinda funny because every time I search up Joseph Christiansen, Leyendecker always shows up because their names are so similar LOL). This piece was mostly supposed to look like a formal photoshoot where they’re all posing in fancy suits. I also wanted to make each dad show their personality in this!! Idk if I actually succeeded. This print was good practice because I felt like I really improved in painting faces of different ethnicities with varying facial features. Which is usually not the case when I paint anime characters because they usually have the same type of nose LOL. Anyway I actually spent so long on this I’m gonna sell this for $20!! And when I sell it my signature thing won’t be there I only put it to prevent art thieves. I might put it in my online store in September depending on if there’s extras or demand for it. Thanks! DREAM DADDY X JC LEYENDECKER?? Just kidding… it’s an original piece but it was heavily influenced by his style. A print for Fan Expo @ table A37! Just finished the sketch AHAH. This is actually my first time planning out my own composition for a print and it was SO HARD because I wanted to challenge myself (just kidding there was no Leyendecker piece with 7 people). But I felt like last time people lowkey thought I was cheap for taking his compositions LOL. Ok but really I looked up so many references and had a lot of trouble fitting them in and making it look unified and just good. Friends were actually asking me when I was going to make fancy suit daddies LOL. It’s supposed to look like a formal picture but I tried to make each of their personalities very evident. Robert is the only one with his shirt open and flower on the wrong side because he’s problematic. I originally had Hugo do the funny bunny ear pose on top of Joseph but my sister told me it was so out of character. Gonna spend the next few days painting this and I’ll post the final soon. (Sorry for the WIP I didn’t want anyone to steal it because it’s been happening)

your tags say this is the last you’re going to reply to this so i was going to leave it here but the recent influx of anons i’ve gotten has changed my mind. i don’t appreciate that you ignored my apology, and that i did, in fact, acknowledge that being asian (and therefore providing an entirely different context), it’s perfectly valid for you to represent yourself in your artwork. and i never said you were obligated to represent 90% of the asian population, i meant to explain why it came across as whitewashed to me – because generally speaking those are features that east asian people don’t have.

you could have clarified that you are indeed an east asian person trying to represent yourself. but instead you had to call me a racist for stating what would otherwise be true and insult my url and make ridiculous claims that i’m discriminatory toward straight people. this could have been resolved very easily, but you decided to take it to another level unnecessarily and that’s on you, tbh.

Hey guys, so I know some of you saw what happened on my YOI art. Basically, someone made false assumptions that I was white and accused me of white-washing the Yuuri in my drawing, which was based off my own face. I wasn’t going to make a text post about this, but I saw this reply and felt the need to. I didn’t mean to aggravate this person that much; I mostly didn’t like this person’s attitude which is basically the embodiment of this toxic-ness on Tumblr. I actually purposely ignored their “apology” because I felt like it was half-assed and not sincere since they only apologized for assuming I was white and not what they actually said. They also blamed the fandom for their assumptions and contradicted themselves a lot i.e. accusing me of calling them racist, when I said their post was and saying I’m not obligated to change my art although that was their whole point.

But THE MAIN POINT IS: what really surprised me was that I had no idea that a lot of people were defending me and personally sending messages to this person on my behalf? I saw a few of them and they were very reasonable (and honestly I agree with them) and I’m very thankful for having people who care about me and my art enough to do this. But I want this situation to end since it’s going nowhere so please stop sending this person messages!! I know they weren’t anything hateful, but this person feels discomfort from them and wants them to stop.

 What I really want to say though is that personally, I think that it’s ok to draw POCs!! And never be scared of drawing them. I know how hard it is to draw POCs because in art school, 99% of the models are white and we only learn to draw those same features over and over.  We’re only victims of our culture/media influences. Drawing a POC portrayed well in an artwork takes A LOT of skill, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a white person (or anyone really) attempting to draw a POC. Most of the artists don’t mean to white-wash. So like, seeing a POC being drawn (no matter how ‘real’ they look) should only be encouraged and not frowned upon. Because it might really hurt that artist and cause them to never draw a POC character ever again. I feel like it’s mostly the people who have never drawn in their life that feel the need to criticize artists because they don’t understand any of this, but I think it’s very important to be aware of this.

“I’m not racist BUT 90% Asians should have these features”

My final print for AN!! I spent 2 days on this it was pretty rushed. My other ones were like subtly gay but this is outright gay HaHA. It’s Yuri on Ice! Yuri and Viktor are dancing; it was a parody on the Dancing Couple from Leyendecker (a prominent gay artist in the 1900s, so it’s also a tribute to him). I ended up doing parodies for all my prints to keep it consistent. I actually had the idea earlier of doing parodies of famous romantic works of art in the past but replacing the het couples with gay couples, so I’m glad I finally did it. I wrote “born to make history” because it’s a famous quote from the theme song but it’s also fitting because the show was kind of revolutionary. It showed a mixed race gay couple openly and got really big in the LGBTQ+ community. Viktor and Yuri’s relationship is really genuine… my favourite parts are when Yuri is teaching Viktor about Japanese culture and he seems so interested, it’s so cute. I also included his promise ring!!

I know there’s a lot of Ddadds merch out there already and a lot of them look cute but y'all know I’m about the SPICY. I tried to make Amanda look cute but I accidentally made her a bit spicy looking too OOPS… it kind of looks like she’s staring at them LOL?? We just sent them in today and TBH I have been working on these nonstop for the past 4ish days and have not been eating properly. The buttons have glitter on them so they’ll look extra SHINY. I’ll prob sell them for $3 each and 2 for $5.

Dream Daddy & Voltron!!

 So my friends convinced me to get this game and I’ve been playing it… you basically make a dadsona and then date other dads it’s really funny and gay. My favourite dad so far is Craig because he looks like Shiro?? Their resemblance is uncanny so I had to draw Shiro as him. It’s like Shiro on the fake template I would love to play a dating sim with him TBH. I tried to mimic the Voltron style too LOL. Is anybody else hyped for season 3 COMING OUT THIS FRIDAY??? I KNOW I AM… (even though I miss Shiro a lot sobs)

Ok guys, we need to talk about J.C.Leyedecker, and how its a fucking travesty that no one has made a film about him yet.

So Leyendecker was an illustrator during the 1910′s-1940′s. His work was absolutely gorgeous and highly ubiquitous at the time, and his llustrations for the Arrow shirt company created one of the most iconic images of male beauty of the early 20th century. But this icon came with a delicously romantic twist.

So this image of The Arrow Man was both incredibly macho and well built, but also ethereally pretty and dapper. But the model who the drawing was based on cropped up in A LOT of Leyendeckers work. In many he was engaged in casual social scenes with other men, in others he was shaving in the bathroom or getting dressed, broad shouldered, skin glistening, dark blond hair perfectly in place, jaw sharp as a fucking shovel, but with a slightly rounded chin. In one ad for war bonds he even appeared as the statue of liberty. This same man appeared in hundrereds of drawings, each with the same sharp care and attention to detail which makes looking at him almost feel voyeristic. 

So this mans image is EVERYWHERE during the early 20th century, and he is a fashion/lifestyle icon for men on par with the female gibson girl. He was the celebrated symbol of male strength, virility, and power. 

And man who modeled for Leyendecker’s iconic univerally adored macho man? That would be his lover, Charles Beach.  

so all this gorgeously homoerotic artwork defined the image of hyper macho masculinity during the interwar period. Leyendecker painted Beach onto the face of the world, that was his love letter. He basically immortalised the love of his life by making the whole world adore him as much as he did.

Leyendecker’s work would go on to influence the likes of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Norman Rockwell. After his death in 1951, when people figured out that the unmarried man he’d been drawing and living with for decades, right up until the time of his death, was actually his lover, Leyendecker’s name has sadly been pushed out of the history books in favour of more wholesome characters.

And that fucking sucks

I would like to request a full length movie, with all the jazz era glamour and steamy romance that this genius deserved. During a time when homosexual men where thought of as weak deviants, this man not only had the nerve to use his lover as the model for all his great works, but he made him into the STANDARD of what it was to be a man. 

J.C. Leyendecker and Charles Beach deserve your rememberance.
