This a post with no purpose about how shitty Alastair and Charles' relationship is:

in nothing but shadows, set in 1899, alastair describes Oscar Wilde as 'a mundane who got sent to prison for indecency' (being gay). So we can assume that at this time, Alastair hasn't yet come to terms with, or realized his sexuality.

charles and alastair met 'some time before 1901', which was when Thomas, Charles and Alastair were in Paris at the same time- and it was when alastair started to properly love, or realised he loved, Charles.

In 1903, when chain of gold is set, Charles is 24. Alastair is 18. when they began their relationship, Charles was 22 and Alastair was 16. This would be wrong in any context- alastair is a minor and Charles is an adult- but specifically at this time when being gay is not accepted, and when alastair is a sixteen year old who has probably only recently realised or accepted his sexuality. Charles took advantage of alastair.

the fact that Charles doesn't want to come out isn't the problem. It's how he treats Alastair (even in private) because of this. Alastair tells him he loves him, and his response is 'you absolutely cannot say that'. he also becomes engaged to Ariadne and grace while continuing his relationship with Alastair. he also says that he doesn't care about Ariadne, and suggests that Alastair should many a woman.

essentially their relationship was toxic and Charles was a shit.

Struggle for a Throne of Faerie in The Wicked Powers

I think the Seelie Queen will die and there will be a struggle for the Seelie Throne in The Wicked Powers, and there will be factions with their own agenda who will back a candidate. I’m not sure if each (or any) of the candidates will be interested in fighting for the crown, but they will most likely feel it’s an obligation to sit upon it to prevent a corrupt faction from winning it.

Who will comprise these factions and which candidates will they back?

There will be a group of Shadowhunters who want to ensure Shadowhunters have control over the fey. They will discover the truth of Kit’s ancestry and push to have him on the throne. They will have some power or knowledge over him that threatens something (more likely someone) he holds dear, so he won’t bow out of the running. I hope it’s not the Cohort, but I do feel it is a possibility.

There will be a group of fey who feel the Seelie and Unseelie courts should be united and they will push to have Kieran take over the Seelie throne. Again, there will be other reasons that exist which prevents Kieran from backing down from this.

There will be another group of fey who want to control the power contained within Ash and to keep the Seelie throne under Seelie control and they will push to have Ash take the Seelie throne.
