Hey everyone! I have written the House of Academia’s first article! If you didn’t know, whenever I write an article or a book (on quotev) I share it here and hashtag it as #bookshelf so it feels like we are creating a bookshelf full of reads for the House of Academia community. This article contains some tips for those who may be new to university. Do you agree with any of the tips here? Do you have any tips you wish to share? Remember, here we encourage commenting on post so we can communicate as a community!

Hey everyone! Today, while I was casually scrolling through Pinterest, I came across this. I believe the tips here are so important because of two main reasons:
1) Academia is a mindset, not a label! You don’t have to be in school/university to take part in the aesthetic and you don’t have to follow the fashion everyday to be a part of that aesthetic.
2) I personally have been building my wardrobe. I don’t have everything for academia that I usually see through social media. Almost my entire wardrobe has been built by thrift shopping! I see so many cute and inspiring outfits but the academia fashion aesthetic can get expensive! I have found name brand clothing from thrift shopping as well such as American Eagle and H&M. There’s no shame in not having an entire academia wardrobe and there’s no shame in thrifting around to build it either! Also, not all your clothes have to be academic inspired. Wear what makes you happy! Once again, academia is a mindset, not a label!

Hello everyone! I have created a short five chapter book called A Guide to Academia! If you interested in learning about academia or wish to start being a part of academia yourself, this short book will guide you through academia’s meaning, fashion, and hobbies. Any book that I create and share will be hashtagged under #bookshelf as I hope and plan to create more books pertaining towards the House of Academia in the future and share it here on my blog like it’s a bookshelf. I hope you all enjoy!

What to expect from the House of Academia and about myself.
Hello everyone and welcome to the House of Academia! You may call me Angel. I am 21 years of age and I attend a university in pursuit of special education. I have created the House of Academia in effort to share not only my passion for learning but so I can also keep myself motivated while hopefully motivating others. While I have known about academia for some time, I have just recently decided the aesthetic is something I can easily identify with. With that being said, what can you expect from the House of Academia?
The House of Academia is a platform for those who wish to learn. Since I am in the pursuit of special education, you will often come across topics relating to my journey with that major; however, this blog will also contain studying tips, dorm hacks, note taking hacks, and basically anything scholarly in the aesthetically pleasing form of academia. If there is one thing I encourage everyone to do here it is to engage in conversation through comments and come together as a community. Here’s to the House of Academia!

What is academia?
Academia is an environment or community concerned with the pursuit of research, education, and scholarship. It is an aesthetic that then divides itself into subcategories such as dark academia, light academia, classic academia, romantic academia, scholarly academia, theatre academia, and more. The academia aesthetic views knowledge as its king therefore opening a community committed to intelligence and sophistication. Simply put, the community has a desire to learn. Because of their desire for intelligence and sophistication, those who are a part of the community dresses in the “Oxford look;” wearing neutral tones, plaid, trench coats, blazers, turtlenecks, polo shirts, knee high socks, flats, dress shoes, short heels, timeless jewelry, and etc.

For those of you who have joined the House of Academia, I bring to you a quiz which may help you discover what type of academia you are. It is a short quiz of only five questions. While there are many more types of academia, this quiz contains the most commonly known ones. Enjoy!
