Hi! I just ended a nearly all day binge read of the fics in your collection 'Finnick Odair- the kraken of district 4'. I don't often write asks and it's late so this might be a touch incoherent but I hope I can still get my point across:
I don't know how you do it, but every one of your fics I've read is an absolute work of art. Some had me crying, some had me smiling until my face hurt. You've captured all of the characters so perfectly. I don't get exactly why, but the way you write emotions is just immaculate. I can genuinely feel what the characters feel, something I struggle to do most of the time when I'm reading.
In conclusion, while I don't know exactly what witchcraft your fics contain, I love them. You're an amazing writer and I thank you for making these.
Highest form of complement ever for aspiring author - I'm so glad you enjoyed them! My aim is always to try and convey things so that you understand what the characters are feeling - whether it's overwhelming panic, all-consuming sadness or sickening love, so actually having you address that specifically makes me incredibly happy!
Thanks so much for your comment - I hope you continue to enjoy my work!

I know Haymitch won the 50th Games since he won the second Quarter Quell, I'm just wondering if it's gonna be his perspective. I think Plutarch is roughly the same age as him, but it's been a while... :(
a new hunger games book has been announced !! about haymitch's games <3
I'm so sorry for the delay in responding!
I have indeed heard the news, and let me tell y'all I am incredibly excited!
I could really see this book going one of three ways (yes I know that's not the saying but roll with me here): way number 1 being Haymitch, 2 being Plutarch, and 3 being another Capitolite. Let me explain (below the cut in case people don't want my theories):
I have taken this excerpt from Wikipedia BC fuck it:
Collins was inspired by Scottish philosopher David Hume, specifically his ideas of implicit submission and "the easiness with which the many are governed by the few", which is comparable to her inspirations for The Hunger Games trilogy, namely Greek and Roman mythology.[5] Questions surrounding the use of propaganda and the power of media narratives also inspired Collins to explore the concept of what is ‘Real or not real?’ in the upcoming novel.[6]
So, this is how I see it going.
Way Number 1: Haymitch
Obviously Haymitch is a well established character, however we see Haymitch at his absolute worst. In the original trilogy, Haymitch is a broken man who lost his family, friends and every tribute he ever mentored. Haymitch is a remarkable representation of 'the many' - and is a stark reminder of the damage 'the few' can do. Couple that with the fact that Haymitch was heavily punished for doing things differently from the Capitol, and we could look at Haymitch perspective as 'the example'. We could follow from his games, watch him lose his family and friends, and then watch the horror of being a mentor. Watch other victors falling into submission after seeing the tragedy that is Haymitch. Watch Haymitch lose his hope, and it would probably have a sad ending, but we know he would gain it back again when a certain Miss Everdeen volunteers for her little sister.
Way Number 2: Plutarch
I'm not 100% on the whole Plutarch one, but I think the timelines could work out. This is definitely a more literal interpretation - Plutarch is, indeed, one of 'the few' who ends up assisting in controlling 'the many'. However, here is also a parallel to TBOSAS, which is a Capitolite finding the Games. Only difference being, while Coriolanus threw himself whole heartedly into them, Plutarch dedicated himself to dismantling them. We could have the whole behind the scenes of the revolution, maybe watching it start. Maybe he's a small gamemaker for the Quarter Quell, maybe he has a crush on one of the tributes, and that makes him realise the true horror. It could even be Maysilee Donner if SC really wants to make a load of links, and he could be thankful to Haymitch for helping her as much as he could. It could be interesting.
Way 3 - A Random Capitolite
While I don't really think SC will go this route, the fact remains that we don't know what the majority of the Capitol feels about the Games at this period in time. I can't predict where this route would go, only that I'm sure whoever it is will be in a position of power and probably have connections to some of the other previously named characters. I can't really see this route being taken, but it is food for thought.

Hey guys.
Sorry I took so long off, I know I have a couple of people who liked keeping up with my content.
I honestly really needed to take some time off after my dog died. I didn't realise how much heavy lifting she was doing for my mental health and honestly I kinda... Shattered, is the best way of putting it.
But I'm back. After some help from my coworkers and a couple of weeks to get a hold of myself, I managed to write a fic for you. And also pass university somehow (how did I manage a 2.1? A mystery for the ages).
Anyway. The Ninth Hunger Games has been posted and I hope to have another one shot or so out soon. I can't guarantee my posting schedule will be anything like before, but I hope to ease back into it.
Love y'all 🩷🩷

Me when I get my results via email tomorrow and I really don't wanna open it in case I don't pass but I also need to pass BC the education system inherently beats out any creativity you have within you and if I don't pass my parents will pressure me to go back into school and I don't have the mental strength to fight them on this and if I spend any more time in education I'm actually gonna throw myself under a bus amd

A star won't stop shining when we can't see it
So why do we think that of people
If we assume the worst of everyone
Everyone will start to be lethal
But if a star doesn't have time away from our eyes
It starts to be taken for granted
For people it's all the same
But for people seeds of hate can be planted
some poetry inspired by your finnick angst :]]
idk i was just vibing here

that's so cool :0 that's also like ... the only genre i read- i very quickly learned to not tell dark stories after the first time my parents tried to get me into therapy lmaoo .
yes ofc :>
-star if you couldn't figure that out
Ayyy hallo star!!
He is so beautifully tragic 😓 I give him fluff far less then I give him whump... And boy if that ain't just the biggest mood, I alternate between writing my book and writing my fics now tho! It's my own personal cure for writers block!!
God I completely get you! I'm lucky my mum's taste in books is just as fucked up as mine LMAO, she's been enjoying beta reading my book for me (what's the professional term??? It's surely not beta reading...)

Finnick Headcanon
I know I've touched upon it in my fics but I'm just putting it out here - I fully believe that Finnick was prostituted/planned to be prostituted from the second he won, and even though he was skilled, I also believe that his first Games were subtly rigged in his favour.
It's well known in the fandom that Finnick was considered a fan favourite in the capitol from the get go, and we know certain people in positions of power tend to prefer... We'll say younger sexual partners. My personal headcanon is that Finnick was put on the market from the get go, however he was exclusively available to the most rich and the most privileged people in the capitol. Obviously the average citizen would probably balk at the idea of a 14 year old being openly promiscuous, even though a standard had been set at 16.
So my headcanon is Finnick had 2 years of private prostitution, where they were told not to leave visible marks his stylist couldn't cover up, and then once he hit 16, his body became public property. His assigned style became more promiscuous and provocative, his public demeanour was expected to shift, and the more vicious and sadistic patrons were given free run as he could now wander around with visible marks (obviously not big ones though, any major wounds would be healed).
I also believe his games were subtly rigged in his favour because Snow could tell how much money he'd make from him. As soon as the sponsor money and ratings came pouring in and he realised how much favour Finnick curried, there were subtle threats made that Finnick should be the one to win, and the gamemakers obliged. In my History of Panem series, I've actually had them switch two arenas around to give the 65th tributes an easier time, therefore allowing Finnick an easier win. However, you guys won't know which arena he was supposed to be in. You'll have to wait until I release the 66th games for that 👀
Either way, Finnick had a rough go of it :(

LMAO you really do whump him a lot [as you should he's so whumpable]
omg you're working on getting published ?? that's so cool !! what genre do you usually write :0 ?? ig making up stories for siblings is a universal thing lmaoo
i am very honoured to be your first [and second now ig-] ask
star [giving myself a fake name cause I CAN DO THAT HAHAHA]
Indeed he is whumpable. Man is practically my punching bag rn lmao
Me @ Finnick like
Also I am indeed! My primary genre is adventure with horror aspects - think a little bit along the lines of Hunger Games (ironically) with some Poppy Playtime thrown in! I like to toe the line between them, but there's usually dark undertones to my stories now! Obviously the stories I used to tell my sister largely revolved around warrior princesses and dragons LMAO I wasn't that messed up as a kid - but my mum does some proof reading now and every so often I do get concerned glances! 😂
Thanks for the asks Star!!
